Any motor with a positioning system is a servo motor. Having said that there are motors specially designed with high torque to function as servos, for which different testing procedures must be applied. DC motors are best to work as servos. .

oh shoot, according to the previous answerer, it's under the hood on the firewall. that's a pain in the butt to change. here's a time saving tip that will prevent unneccessary curse words and random wrenches through the windshield of the vehicle beside yours: remove the cradle bolts that attach the lower subframe to the body. either 15mm or 18mm but have a jack under it so it doesn't fall too far. this will lower the engine assembly enough to remove the blower motor. next, use a strap or ratcheting tow strap to pull the engine forward AFTER REMOVING THE ENGINE MOUNTS in front of the engine. this will pull the motor forward and the jack can lower it. after these two steps, the blower motor is gravy. without these steps, you will be bleeding and cursing, guaranteed, i've been there!
Q:How do reversible gear motors work?
Usually a two direction motors are three phase motors thou it can be single phase motor but with three phase motor its easy to control. This if it works on AC currant. It also can be DC that is easer to control. 3 phases AC motor you can reverse the direction of rotation by switching two phases instead of U V W you have to make it U W V or any other combination. And it will reverse you can achieve this with a switch to give an order to a contactor to do the switching. Note that you may need a time delay to make the switching to have the motor at complete stop before reversing. Single-phase motor is very complicated process I think no one do this. A DC motor is easy you just switch the + to – and the – to + then it will reverse this can be achieved by a change over switch. Also you can use the change over switch for the 3-phase motor.
Q:Do household AC motors (mixer, vacuum cleaner, etc) work as electricity generators if used in reverse?
No. a generator requires 'excitation current' to the coils or permanent magnets. You have to have a magnetic field. Just spinning an AC motor won't work. If a wind turbine is your goal, and you're 'lost' in things electrical, an automotive alternator with it's regulator and battery is the way to go. A relatively cheap inverter will give you the 120V. AC . All the electrcial engineering is already done for you, and all you've got to do is spin it at about 1500 - 2000 RPM.

Your mixer motor is just getting old and worn out. My best advice for you is to get another mixer. The copper winding have deterioated over the years and the coating over the wires has burnt off and is starting to short the motor out. The is no economical fix for this unless you completely rewind the motor. Have a big wallet ready because it will cost more than a new one.

Q:difference between ac open loop , vector control, servo modes?
With open loop you just send a voltage at a set frequency from your inverter to the motor. You only measure the current to see if the motor is having trouble or not. You could have the motor turning erratically or not at all if there is a problem in the connection. The inverter will have the same output regardless. With Vector control you normally need a normal motor with some kind of feedback like an encoder on the shaft. This way you can determine the speed that the motor actually runs at and correct accordingly if it doesn't respond like you want it to. If the motor doesn't turn correctly for any reason it will trip on the inverter. You can also run on vector control with an encoder mounted on a pulley or belt or product that the motor is controlling. Servo mode is a pretty precise control and you can control the motor to a specific position and hold it at a position without turning. You can get a normal AC motor to react in this matter but the accuracy is not as good as an actual servo motor. 5% against 1%. You need to have an encoder on the shaft of the motor for this. In general you run on open loop unless you want to control the inverter in special application.
