Q:Is a graphics card power cable needed because not all graphics cards come with one? And if it isn't needed, what is the benefit?
Graphics cards get their power from the computer slot into which they are plugged. I've never heard of needing an external power source.
Q:I just purchased and mounted my 52lcd and I cut holes to run the HDMI cables behind the wall. As I was snaking the power cable, I realized this might not be the best way. Is there anything I need to do (I only have basic 'contracting' skills) to keep my install fire code safe?
The hole should be sealed for a fire stop. That little hole should not amount to anything. If you seal the hole and have a problem with the tv set you are really going to have problems removing the set for service.
Q:My system was working fine until today. The bass stopped hitting to the music and thumps in intervals of about 5 seconds regardless of whether the music is turned up or down. I hooked up my system without my capacitor to see if this was the problem. It worked...but only for a minute. The bass was hitting like it was suppose to but all of a sudden it went back to the interval thumping and the power cable got hot to the touch and the fuse inside the holder was melted. What the heck is the problem?
to much electricity going throught the wire u need thicker wire try 0 gauge
Q:I just have the power cable for battery, lost the ground cable.. Can I cut from power cable and use for ground? Are they the same thing or different cables.??
the only difference is the plastic coating (the color)- as long as you don't mix up the pos and neg at the amp you are fine
Q:Why is an aluminium and iron mixture used for power cables ?Please could I have a detailed answer, as detailed as you can make it.Thankyou x
The cables have some few steel wires for strength, and many aluminum ones to carry the current. THey use aluminum instead of copper because it is a lot cheaper and much lighter.
Q:i have a dell inspiron 9100. for some odd reason, it won't recognize its power cable. I have tried all outlets in my room that I can plug it into.
It okorder
Q:Like from a computer monitor?or a pc power cable?would a generic power cable work for it or would it like, blow the brick up lol?
I asked an electrical engineer friend this same question, and I'm using my original launch 3 prong cable with a new official 203w xbox power brick with 2 prong input and he said it's totally fine. I've been using it for about a week.
Q:where can i put my amp power cable through my bulk head in my 1999 1.8L 16 valve ford mondeo lx?
Find the main harness going through the fire wall and follow it
Q:He has made a couple of really small slits in the black plastic on the wire, all in the same place, but on both sides. I can see silver through it, but no other colours. I have unplugged it from the laptop and the mains, as I assume I shouldn't use it. However, it is the bit attached to the big square thing (sorry, I don't know what it is called), does that have a charge, so should I do something special with the wire? Also, is there any way to repair it, like electrical tape, or should I just go buy another cable this afternoon?I have a Sony Vaio in case that is important.(and before anyone says, don't let your dog chew the wire, he usually leaves the wire alone, I left him for a couple of seconds and when I came back he was chewing something next to the wire, so I guess he missed! I've learnt my lesson and I won't be leaving him in the vicinity of the laptop on his own ever again!)
no its fine but i would suggest that you take caution in plugging it back in maybe wear rubber gloves or something but you shoould be fine, some people would go out and by a new cord but it is completely unneccesary
Q:Welding cable (230v) doesn't, so why would (14v) car audio cables
Some car audio power cables have extra-thick insulation because the manufacturer is trying to sell them as larger than the actual wire gauge. These types of rip-off amp kits are often sold by online vendors. Amplifier power cables have to be very flexible, very resistant to temperature extremes, resistant to oil and gas, and they're typically designed to be used in an environment with lots of sharp metal edges. A thick, flexible jacket is preferable to a thin jacket that might crack when it's flexed in cold temperatures.
