- Q:how long will cigars keep in tubes?
- Cigars are hydroscopic, that means they tend to match the relative humidity of the enviornment in which they are kept. A tubed cigar in a tube that is hermetically sealed outside of a humidor will keep for 3 - 6 months. After that, even the best seal will begin to fail. In a humidor, a tubed cigar hermetically sealed will keep nearly indefinately. In a plastic tube, you may as well not even have the tube.
- Q:Will the results be any different? If so, why?
- Absolutely they'll be different. The normal plastic bad is not permeable to much of anything. I'm not sure of your experiment, but if you are using starch and Iodine, with dialysis tubing, the iodine can pass in and out, but starch cannot because the pores in the dialysis tubing are too small. With a platic bag, there are no pores, per se, and so neither the iodine nor the starch can move in and/or out.
- Q:Hot melt connection method of PE-RT plastic pipe and the matters needing attention
- When the connection is made, the pipe end without rotating is inserted into the heat sleeve to be inserted into the marked depth, and at the same time, the pipe fittings without rotating are pushed on the heating head to reach the designated mark. Heating time should meet the requirements of the above table (also according to the provisions of the manufacturer of hot melt tools);
- Q:Plastic tubing is touching compressor (or close to it) and gets hot and brittle. I recoupled a bad spot 1 year ago and it is leaking again. I would like to replace the tubing from the back of the refrig (solenoid) to the water filter. Any ideas on what material to use? I would like to use copper line thru the bottom of the refrig if not all the way to the water filter, but don't know how to connect it to the solenoid. Also would pex (1/4 OD) line be a better (albeit more expensive) choice for this?
- You can replace the line with copper. If the connection point is metal you'll want to use a brass compression nut (brass) with a (brass) compression sleeve (know as a ferrules) if the connection point is plastic you'll want to use a nylon compression fitting. The metal ferrules one wont work as you would need to crank the you know what out out it to make it seal, and run the risk of stripping the plastic threads. The nylon takes less torque to seal if that makes sense as its a more dense material. You should be able to get all the parts from a local hardware store or big box store such as lowes or homedepot.
