Q:Are laptops good for gaming?
A laptop can be just as capable as a desktop, but you have to pay for the extra portability. A gaming laptop will be considerably more expensive than a gaming desktop with identical specifications. As for comments in one of the other answers that laptops are fragile Yes, you can break a laptop if you drop it, but so what? What does that have to do with the capability of the laptop of running games? And as for them running hot, a laptop doesn't necessarily run any hotter than a desktop, though it might seem that way since you have the thing in your lap, and they can indeed run hot if you don't let it get enough ventilation. (A friend of mine complained about his laptop overheating and blamed the manufacturer. Then I pointed out that he puts the laptop on a pillow in his lap when he uses it, which completely blocks the air vents.) But again, that has little to do with the gaming capabilities of a laptop. And if heat is an issue, there are cooling pads and other products available to help with that.
Q:What to consider when buying a laptop.?
The two most important considerations are what are you going to use the laptop for, and what is your budget? If you just want something convenient and portable to do email and web surfing, then a netbook is fine, since it's lightweight, inexpensive and easy to carry around. Price range $300-$500. If you want to do a little more, like maybe watch DVDs and play music, run Microsoft Office, take to the library for studying (basic student stuff), then a basic full size laptop will handle most of what you need. Price range $450-$600. If you want a desktop comparable system that will be your main system for all but the most demanding tasks, then you want a 15.4 monitor, 2Ghz or faster Core Duo processor, 250GB hard drive, 3GB RAM, DVD burner, maybe a better graphics adapter. Figure $500-$750. A gaming system will cost a lot more. You'll need more memory, a better graphics adapter, bigger screen. Price $1500+. A full desktop replacement that will serve as your only computer can run anywhere from $750-$3000. You'll need a larger hard drive, 4GB memory, probably on-site service, backup software, extra battery and a strong back. Once you decide on what class of laptop you're looking at, the choice is really more based on which brand you prefer or trust and which system gives you the best performance for the bucks. Most of the brands use the same or similar components so the choice (in my on mind) comes down more to price than anything else. Make sure the system has the components you need either built-in, or easy to add. Adding a DVD burner to a system that doesn't have one is easy; changing video cards is impossible.

Q:charge laptop from USB?
Laptop circuits are not designed to be charged from USB. The charger circuit is 12V, and USB is supposed to be protected from current surges from the outside. You can seriously damage your laptop in trying to charge it from a USB port. A USB is 5 volts. The input port is 11 to 18 volts for laptops, and the usb ports on a laptop are for power coming out of a laptop and not for going in. It is possible to get a 5V to the appx 12V input to the laptop, but it is not an advisable thing to do.

Now a days laptop hardware are built to withstand more heat.If Ur laptop is over heating then its mainly due to lot of dust inside.Once u clear it off the problem gets solved. My laptop is a couple of years old, I don't use a cooling fan my pc is on always on high performance. I use it as a desktop at my bar, that way I don't have a bunch of wires bulky hardware. Anyways, laptop's been on for months only periodically gets rebooted, no problems thus far.
