product description

The photovoltaic effect was experimentally demonstrated first by French physicist Edmond Becquerel. In 1839, at age 19, he built the world's first photovoltaic cell in his father's laboratory. Willoughby Smith first described the "Effect of Light on Selenium during the passage of an Electric Current" in a 20 February 1873 issue of Nature. In 1883 Charles Fritts built the first solid state photovoltaic cell by coating the semiconductor selenium with a thin layer of gold to form the junctions; the device was only around 1% efficient.

Following the 1973 oil crisis oil companies used their higher profits to start (or buy) solar firms, and were for decades the largest producers. Exxon, ARCO, Shell, Amoco (later purchased by BP) and Mobil all had major solar divisions during the 1970s and 1980s. Technology companies also participated, including General Electric, Motorola, IBM, Tyco and RCA.[16]

Q:Solar Panel experts...please help.?
I'm not an expert, but I recently went through the process and now have a system on my home. I got 3 quotes from 3 licensed contractors and they all seemed to be about the same, the prices seemed to be based on the amount of energy they produced. In CA and I'm sure everywhere else they are tested by an independent agency which rates the output of the panels. You seem to have similar usage as my house, I got a 3.75kwhdc unit, it isn't expected to eliminate my bill, but it should reduce it by quite a bit. I've only had it for a few months and it took me from about 45 kwh per day to around 0. I know I'll have lower output in the winter, but my usage is lower in the winter as well. I decided on this size unit to maximize my rebates and I can take advantage of my utilities rebates when I add to the system in a few years. The difference between panels seemed to be how big they were. Some systems can be twice the size and produce the same amount of energy. I put a couple links below that I found helpful. The roseville pv buy down program has some great links that give information about specific systems.
Q:Tell me the guidelines for making solar panels?
I think it will be useful for you.. just try those things ..To begin, you will need a Multimeter which is able to measure DC fractions of voltage and your collection of solar cells, once you have this, position a light source near your solar cells as this will allow you to get a consistent measurement of voltage output of each of the solar cells.set your Multimeter to measure DC voltage and place the negative test lead on the side of the solar cell which shows negative voltage. Then place the positive test lead on the side f the solar cell which shows a positive voltage. Check to see what the maximum voltage output is and don’t move the solar cell around to try and get a higher reading. Next you need to separate your solar cells into groupings of .05 volt increments and this will allow you to take maximum advantage of solar cell output.the next step is to connect the solar cells with tinned interconnection wire and in order to achieve this you will need to take the spool of interconnection wire and cut it into 0.5 inch lengths.next every piece of the tinned interconnection wire should have solder put on it and you can do this by adding solder to 5.25 inches of the wire beginning at one end, then flip the wire over and add solder to the remainder of the wire beginning at the opposite end.now you must solder a length of the interconnection wire to each connection strip which is located on the front of each of the solar cells.
Q:Does a solar panel work on a cloudy day or a rainy day?
There okorder.com/ Why pay thousands of dollars for solar energy ($27,000 average cost) when you can build your own solar panel system for just a fraction of the retail cost. You can build a single solar panel or you can build an entire array of panels to power your whole house. Some people are saving 50% on their power bill, some people are reducing their bill to nothing. But what’s most impressive is that just by following these instructions some are even making the power company pay them!
Q:Building my own solar panels?
Hello, okorder.com. Look at some videos ( There are few hundred of them ) Basically though they all stay with the same idea or plan. Look at how they wire them and get more familiar with what they are running on them depending upon how much wattage panel they are running. I seen a 400 watt system costing about 600 dollars US currency. Because two 200 watt panels = 50.00 each and the diverter = 50 and the charge controller = another 50.00 at the least. Then you have wiring and some deep cycle 2 or 6 volt batteries to loop up which is extra cost if none laying around to use. Check-out youtube though for the best advice and opinion you can give yourself then maybe look at a few solar panel websites which sell Solar kits for some more price ideas. To run a laptop i assume you will need atleast 400 watts and 2 to 4 ,twelve volt batteries which are deep cycle and it might take 3 to 5 days to charge up your batteries but they should charge laptop battery no problem without much loss if you keep laptop charged often. TV is power hungry and you will need something like a $500.00 system for that. 000 watts etc. Tv just drains the battery bank way too fast. So to answer your question about what you can get for 200 bucks. Maybe a 80 watt kit system for about 250 bucks complete except batteries. with 80 watts you could power some cool nighttime night lighting with super bright LEDS or LED light strips which are about 0.3 watts per LED or 5 watt LED cabinet lights work well So for a 80 watt system you probably only want one 2 volt battery or else will take alot longer to charge on such low wattage. But you could run LED lighting for nighttime lighting and easily save 250 dollars in a year off your bill by charging phone from it, using LED lights and other low wattage devices if utilized daily. Just don't draw more power than it makes and it should be ok. Goodluck with your research.
Q:Is there any way I can get solar panels with my restrictions?
Nope; I see no escape. Best advice I can give is this: sell out and move to a single home residence that has no HOA. If you want solar, I believe the main roofline should run east-west, so that the south exposure of the roof can be easily and economically populated with panels. APS is better than SRP wrt solar ....maybe. Im not sure, everythiong around here is APS so there's no balance. Ive occasionally heard rumors from SRP folks who are unhappy.... check into it before you buy.

Q:What home appliance can be powered by a solar panel?
that's going to take approximately $forty 4,000 to place sufficient photograph voltaic panels to furnish the comparable quantity of skill which you at the instant have coming from a 220 v a hundred amp skill line on your place. you additionally must understand which you truly want some approach of storage for use at night or dark days. this might upload yet another $7,000 to the fee. the only actual answer for the skill issue is nuclear skill.
Q:how do i build a solar electric panel for my home?
Solar energy is very expensive. Or I should say, solar panels are expensive, because once you install them the power is free. A typical residential solar power system that supplies around a kilowatt of power at best conditions (noon, sunny day) will cost about $0,000. This includes the solar panel, the inverter (converts DC into AC), the cabling, but not installation (that would probably run you another $2000). One kilowatt is not that much electricity. It would run one microwave oven, or one hair dryer, or 0 light bulbs, and nothing else. Most houses use 3 times that at peak hours. So you would still likely get some power off the grid at peak time, and other times you can sell it back to make a little money. The good news is that solar panels are getting cheaper. They are around $5 per watt now, and are projected to drop to half that in the next decade. At some point, it will reach the sweet spot that makes solar an attractive alternative to grid power and more people will jump on board. There are some tax incentives too, but more would certainly help.
