- Q:I rent a duplex and the carpet was brand new when we moved in. the first time i went to vacuum it tore up a big string of carpet. now i have 3 or 4 spots in my house that have runs in the carpet. How do i fix these? is there away without redoing the whole carpet? I would like to get my security deposit back.
- First, I would call the landlord/lady and tell him/her what happened. If it is new carpet there may be a warranty for defective carpet. You don't want to be responsible for damage to the carpet if it is defective. Second, What kind of carpet is it? My carpet is Berber and my cats have pulled up areas where the seams are and where it meets the tile. I use Household Goop (I get it at Home Depot) for almost every problem and it works well. You also might try some carpet glue. There is also a product called FABRI-TAC that I got from a fabric store. It is a permanent adhesive, fast grab quick dry, bond fabric, lace, trim, leather wood, and is washable. I used it where the carpet meets the tile and it worked well, very quickly. I hope you find a solution to your problem quickly.

- Rug burn is chafing , so neosporinr is perfect. Just wash with soapy water and let it dry first. It will clear up fast if it's just red. If its bleeding or oprn will take longer. Aloe, from a plant will work too.

- The best way to remove small bleached spots from carpet is to use a magic marker. Take a small piece of the carpet to a craft or art store and match up several markers. Start with a lighter color. It is better to error on the light side than on the dark side. I have seen carpet mills use this to correct defective carpet patterns.

- We had, or I should say Mom and Dad had a beautiful Blue and turquoise shag rug under the coffee table. It was about 10 inches bigger than the table, on all ends. It wasn't as long as the sofa though. Looked real good. Byee

- This can be awful for you! The answers you received are all good ones! Paraffin wax is a very difficult thing to get out of carpet. So my first question would be which kind of candle is it? If it is paraffin, then probably one of the answers already given will be good. If it is a proprietary formula of vegetables and other natural resources (a natural wax blend), then you will be able to clean it up with soap and warm water. And it will not mess up your carpet. You may also want to look up on the internet the company that made the candle and see what they suggest. I hope this helps.
