im thinking about buying a new bed and want to save some space in my room so i thought maybe a sofa bed. i was just wondering because i suffer from back pain now and then but do sofa beds damage your back in anyway over a long period of time because i would use it as my permanent bed? cheers
It all depends on the sofa bed. Futons for instance are fine, they have a quite hard mattress, and they are OK for using regularly, but maybe not for many years. Other sofa beds are usually for occasional use and therefore not necessarily good for your back etc. You could get a futon and top it with a reasonably good mattress, as this would also be higher and therefore more easy to get in and out of bed. I'm sure that would be better, but it would not save you much space in the room.
i dont want to re-upholstery my sofa. its too expensive. it costed me a lot. the stain came from sweat and dust.
Try woolite with resolve for upholstery on the sofa, spot shot on the carpet. if you don't have a steam cleaner, rent a rug doctor from your local grocery store, or walmart be sure to get the upholstery attachments. Buy a small bottle of carpet cleaner for the machine, a can of spot shot a small can of oxi-clean. Pretreat with the spot shot, add 1 scoop of oxi-clean to the water with the carpet cleaner clean the sofa carpet. Add 1 scoop oxi-clean with every water refill (and the capful of shampoo) it should all look like new. I use this method everytime I clean my light beige carpets it works great.
like if i want to pick up a used sofa or mattress to use but maybe the previous owner had pets or was a smoker, what is a good way to clean an sanitize mainly cloth furniture like a couch or mattress.
Don't buy used soft furnishings like sofas. And definitely DO N-O-T buy a used mattress. You are asking for trouble if you do that. Besides, many charity stores don't even take in bedding (sheets, etc) because of bedbugs. Do yourself a favour and do without furniture until you can afford to buy it new (or get it from friends and relatives). The smell of cigarette smoke isn't the only undesirable thing in getting used furniture. Besides, you absolutely cannot 'sanitize' an upholstered couch or chair. It's just not possible. You can clean them with Bissel upholstery cleaner, but you won't know if there are bugs inside it. Not worth it - just take 10 minutes and check out the various questions that are on this site and you'll see how horrible it is to get bed bugs in your house. You can't see bed bugs because they usually come out at night and bite your butt until it bleeds!
I'm looking for a quality L shaped sofa bed thats more plush that firm and preferably not leather.

Here are the details of measurements:Sofa: 75 W x 36 D x 30 H (28 with legs off).Doorway: 29 W x 79 HHallway leading to doorway: 29 W x 90 H.All measurements in inches. Not concerned about other entry ways. Basically, seems to me that I should be able to pivot the sofa in through the door If I stand it on its end, put the back in the door first and then pivot the seat portion in.Any thoughts from any movers out there?
Is the hallway a straight shot? If it curves at the door you will have more difficulty. Also, do you have a straight shot after you get through the door? If the sofa is material and stuffed you have a little more give. You stand the chance of damaging the sofa a little also on the door facing especially if it is leather. You should be able to fit it in. It is a lot easier if you have more than one person moving the sofa.
I am looking for a new couch and loveseat. When I look at furniture websites they offer sofas and sleepers. I am somewhat confused on the differences since the both have identical measures and they don't have foldout beds in them.

I am looking for a leather sofa or sectional that will fit a small person or a small room with out taking it over.
Leather sofas come in all sizes and shapes. You might be more used to seeing those big over plumped behemoths but most comtemporary leathers are smaller and sleeker. You just need to expand your furniture shopping range to more contemporary stores and not the traditional stores.
i just came back off holiday and the dog wont stop sitting on the sofa,he has never done this before.I think maybe the person who was looking after him let him do it.he doesn't seem to know that he's doing anything wrong because when i shout at him he just looks at me.does anybody have any idea how i can make him stop?thanks
well my dog used to sit on the sofa when i was not looking or when i was not home but when i came back home she would go in the kitchen like she did nothing. i realized she did it when she went deaf and never heard me come in .i would leave her on the couch because it might be comfy but if not they have mats that u can put on the sofa and when she jumps up it annoys her or u can get the mat with the sensor that makes a noise when she jumps up there u can buy it at dr.foster and smith they have a website
