FAQ

Our automatic garage door opener has developed some problem. Repair person identified it as stripped Gear. Instead of replacing Gear (which could cost ~$50), he is suggesting to replace complete opener (cost ~$300). It seems if we replace Gear, we might have to replace it again within a year. What should we do?
Unless you have had constant problems, just replace the gear.Order the whole assembly(which incudes the driveshaft and top bearing). And do not skip installing the worm gear. Doing this I see no reason why the new gear should not last as long as the original.
12-volt access control and 24-volt Panasonic automatic door machine wiring
12 volt access to the current you first find, and then borrow one of the open signal points to control the 24V Panasonic automatic door machine system. This may need to be modified according to the situation to install the circuit. Plus a 12V miniature relay can be used. I have transformed a similar system.
What is the meaning of the jogging of the electric door?
Jog is to hold down the button it moves, release the button it stops
The main requirement is that if someone or a car or the like to achieve the automatic stop to prevent the folder hurt people? Microwave radar is the displacement of the object response, and thus the reaction speed, suitable for people walking through the normal speed of the place, it is characterized that once the door near the staff do not want to go out and still do not move, the radar will no longer react, automatic The door will be closed, the door machine has a certain protective effect; Infrared sensors react to the presence of objects, regardless of whether the person moves or not, as long as it is within the scanning range of the sensor, it will react to the outgoing contact signal. My automatic garage door opens for 1 feet and stops. Thoughts?
there are safety switches most time a beam of light from one side of the door to the other. When something obstructs this beam or there is a defective sender/receiver unit the door will not go up/down any further. Check for obstructions or if the send/receiver unit is bent. They should be facing each other and line up center to center
I got a new house, idk the garage code and neither did the realtor. Any way it opens fine but.it won't even go half way down when you try to shut it and then it rolls all the way back up. It does shut manually but IM too short to reach so how can I fix it! The sensors are clear, nothing is blocking them. Idk how to see if they are aligned. Please help!
Since I don't know what type of GDO you have I can't tell for sure. AND I'm not a GD expert (No, GD doesn't stand for Gosh Darn either). Generally speaking the sensors have a light on them. If they're green the door can close. If something blocks the beam they turn red and the door will reverse. But there's another safety feature: If the door senses resistance during closing it will reverse and open back up. It's possible the sensitivity is set too high. The slightest resistance and the door can return to the open position. Get the make and model number and go on line and see if you can find a manual for it. There it should tell you how to check the beams and the resistance level. It should also tell you how to set the max open and the max closed positions. There should also be a Troubleshooting section that might answer more of your questions. It will also tell you how to clear any old codes and how to enter new codes (or learn a remote you already have - provided they're compatible). It will take a little researching on your part but that's where you'll find the answer, in the operators manual. For now, operating the door manually with a cord you can't reach - get a ladder and replace the cord with a longer one. Or tie an additional cord to the existing cord. Hope this helps. I have a 2 car steal roll up door with a Genie 1024. It's by far the slowest opener I've seen. On my 3rd door I have an old American Door co opener and it's at least twice as fast. The springs on the door are well balanced. I tested them by disconnecting the opener and ensuring I could open the door by hand with just two fingers. Is there some sort of speed adjustment? BTW it's been slow since the day it was installed.
Well, the Genie openers are designed to open at 7 per second, so a standard door (7') will open in a little more than ten seconds. The 1024 has a soft-start feature which opens the door more slowly at first, then speeds up to normal. It could be that yours is stuck in the soft mode. If that's the problem, I can't tell you how to fix it, but a serviceman could (if no one here can explain it). If it's a problem with the motor, you'll have to resort to the guarantee (they offer a lifetime warranty on the motor and gear assembly), and lots of time communicating with them. Good Luck
