Q:Do you have to set them up and break them down or does the renting fee include this?We're having our ceremony held outside, and the place we are having it is costing us $6/chair and they are just conference chairs with white covers. We saw the nice, white ceremony chairs at a rental place for $2.75. That will cut our ceremony fee in half, which is great!! Especially with having better looking chairs. I just am unsure if they normally set them up (the rental company) or if we have to do this ourselves.Thanks :)

The simple thing here is to ask who sets up the chairs. That way you'll know for sure. If the venue is charging you for the chairs, that includes the set up, of course. I doubt very much that you would be allowed to bring chairs in from the outside. You can ask, but keep in mind that these reception venues make their money on these rentals and services. If you are allowed to bring your own chairs, ask the rental company if the cost includes set up (I doubt that it does). Still though, if you are allowed to order your own chairs, you might ask a couple of friends to be in charge of the project to avoid the set up fees.

Q:Someone gave me an old chair. Looks cool in a vintage way, but some of the upholstery is worn. This may be a dumb question. But can any idiot reupholster or do you need special training? Are there any cheap ways to cover furniture? For example, I did a search and found a lot of decorative furniture tacks? What are these exactly. Since I have no upholstery experience, I was thinking of buying some cool looking fabric and tack it on the chair? Is that a dumb idea? Also, do furniture tacks stay put? I don't want them falling on the floor and me or my pets getting tacks in our feet.

There okorder I remember seeing two or three tutorials on upholstering. They seemed very detailed and helpful. I tried to do this myself, but the chair was so old that it just made a huge mess when I tried to take off the existing upholstery - dust, fabric particles everywhere. Good luck, I hear it's not easy.

Q:I am getting married this October and I'm having my reception in a banquet hall...it's very nice and of course they provide white tableclothes for their round tables but their chairs are like an ugly pinkish color...I'm wanting to get some white chair covers to cover them up and make it look more elegant. The banquet hall recommended a place that they use and I guess the people come out and steam the covers on the chairs so they aren't wrinkled and they have a display out at the hotel we are having the reception at and they are really nice but they are $6 a chair cover and I'm having over 200 guests at my wedding and I don't want to be spending that kind of money on just chair covers. Just wanted to know if any of you have ever ordered chair covers online that you can rent? I found a website where you can rent them and they are only like $1 or $2 for each chair cover, but I hate to order them and they come and are are really wrinkled and don't even look nice...any of you done this?

I have a similar situation and my banquet hall also charges $6/chair cover. I've already included it as one of my wedding costs - but I agree it's a rip off. If you want to buy the $2 chair covers I would ask a friend to help you coordinate this on your wedding day. Keep in mind that they will probably come folded and will all need to be pressed. Decide if saving the $800 is worth ironing 200 chair covers and putting them on the chairs on your wedding day.
