Q:if you had a choice would in be in the shape of a boat well like a boat kinda or in the shape of a panda as in a lot of pandas stuck together to form a chair???Thanks
Could you repeat the question?
Q:I have 6 dining room chairs with fabric seats. The fabric is light and I want to make a cover for them. I do not want to cover the entire chair, only the seat portion. I have a little sewing experience so I'm not worried about the construction of the cover, just the measuring of the fabric. Any ideas or references on how to do this?
Upholstered seats should screw off the frame of the chair. Lay the cushion top down on your fabric and cut it about 6 out. Pull up the corners first and staple in place with a staple gun. Pull up the centers of all 4 sides and staple, pulling snug. Now pull up the rest of the fabric and get it all stretched and stapled. Trim off any extra and screw it back on the chair frame. No sewing at all.
Q:I found a very cool shaped very old chair at a junk shop for $5. It is in fairly good shape and sturdy (none of the arms or legs wiggle). But it is missing the seat, which I would imagine was one time a woven cane seat that has fell out. I would prefer not to re-cane a new seat (I have done this before, but I don't find it comfortable to sit on this type of seat and they don't wear well). I would much rather put in a padded upholstered seat, but am not sure how? There is just a large hole in the middle where the seat used to be, and I'm having trouble thinking of ways to attach a piece of wood with padding and upholstery. It doesn't have to be super sturdy, as it won't have more than a 170lb person in it, and will more than likely not be used daily (it will be for our bedroom). Any ideas?Chair similar to this one (no seat)- http://krypton.mnsu.edu/~wayne/Caning/roundchair.JPG
Well, I think the thing to do here is cut a piece of 1/4 plywood and inch or so bigger in each dimension than the hole. then put your piece of foam on it with some spray adhesive, and wrap like quilt batting and upholstery fabric over it and staple underneath. then to attach, without damaging your antique frame, I would say attach some turn button type things. If you glued some blocks onto the plywood just a little thinner than the chair frame, and then some longer blocks screwed to those which trap the chair frame under them.
Q:We need chairs platforms and stuff for the theatre
No offense to answer one but knowledge of Where you are isn't strictly relevant. I had my own theater company in Washington State a few years ago, and the first thing we did was solicit the area for donations, even offering free admissions. Check with Churches for rentals or loans of folding chairs. Check with catering companies, perhaps with a warehouse of furniture they may want to upgrade, and have old to deal with. Check with other theaters. I was involved in the remodeling of Seattle Opera venue and they GAVE away Hundreds of very plush seats. Do fund raisers to BUY white resin chairs, OR offer the possible patrons, a chair in their name for a donation. Beyond seating on chairs, and depending on your budget and commitments, seek advice or aid from your local chamber of commerce. In the beginning, offer Cheap seats if you have to in home made bleacher style. Get your Company involved in scouring neighborhoods, garage sales, Aunt Agnes and her garage, etc. etc. etc. Your best resources are going to be your patrons in the end. I put out a call List before any performance, asking for donations and loans, and certainly on a lobby poster gave due credit to anyone involved, as well as comp tickets. Q:I have the brenton studio bungee chair in my room for almost a year and I just read the labels in the bottom and it says, Ca prop65 warning: this product contains chemical, including lead, know to the state of california to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. should I get rid of it? Its my favorite chair but im afraid of the harmful effects.
Unless you live in California, you have nothing to worry about.
Q:Im trying to lower my office chair but it is different then my last one. My last one had some lever that you just puch and your weight will lower it like hydralics, but this chair is different it dont have that lever the only thing it has is some type of knob that turn at the bottom. I tried that and nothing happens does anyone know how to lower these types of chairs?
My guess is the paddle that adjusts this either broke fell out or was somehow removed. Flip your chair over and you will find the manufacturer, model and serial number this will help you re-order also look for a place that the paddle would fit into by the cylinder and lastly the knob you' re referring to is most likely a tilt tension knob and if this is the case your chair should certainly have a height adjustment.
Q:What are some of the pros and cons of each? Massage chairs are generally expensive, are they worth it? how close do they mimic a live massage?
massage chairs are good if there is no one around who can do massage. Let's say in the middle of the night. It can be quite relaxing. But the problem is that most of these things put out a lot of Electro magnetic radiation, something that has been connected to cancer. So in case that's true, there is possibly a big health gamble. No machine can replace a good massage therapist's hand. As it is not just applying massage, but also able to check and feel changes. It's probably best for you and your to learn massage, then you probably don't need to get a massage chair.
Q:So I bought a Gaming Chair and I have a all the cords but Power Cord. It is a Audio Responce Technology chair but one of the older ones and the part where you control the sound from chair is a 52000 Sound Rocker and if you could tell me what type of power cord that would be great and Thanks in Advance.
You mean you brought a gaming chair WITHOUT the Power cord? There should be a label on the chair (probably under the seat) that tells you what make it is - if its a older model, they may not make power cords for it any more - especially if its a discontinued model and there is two, three or more models that have come after it. A quick look around Ebay shows that there is nothing there - so you're best bet would probably be to go to an indepent game store (NOT A CHAIN). Independent Game stores are a great source of information (as well as deals) and whilst they may not be able to source you one directly, they may have a regular customer, who has a friend who has a spare one. Certainly my experiences in my local independent game store - is that information is traded freely between owner and regular customers - if the shop itself can't help you directly - they ask their regular customers if they have/can source a certain item and if they'd be willing to sell it to them for resell.
Q:hey im 13 female i want to build a chair not sure what type can you please help me my room is old and i share it but i want to update it but cant paint it yet or anything but i need some ideas??
Wow - I've made many chairs.... they are the big leagues. You really have to know what you're doing to make a good one. But you can just build a box - something to sit on. It doesn't have to be super heavy or strong - just enough to hold you up. But a nice graceful chair is a very difficult job and takes every tool in the shop.
Q:Hi so today my band teacher assigned us our place in the band and I got second chair for flutes. It's that good or bad? I wanted to get first chair but I guess I wasn't playing my best. :P so is second chair considered good or bad? Will I get anything like special from it? Or should I work my way to first chair since in my school we can challenge the chair above us. I want a opinion so I can make up my mind.Oh and if it helps, the other first chair (we have two groups for flutes) guy is kind of annoying and he always distracts the people around him. I know I should I have a good relationship with others but I dislike him
You should challenge no matter where you sit, and if you ever get to be first, you should encourage people below you to challenge. Competition makes you better, and as long as you have that drive you will be fine. Which flute section are you in, and how many flutes are there? Second chair in the first group is good if there are ten of you, not so good if there are only three. Second chair in the second group is probably not all that impressive. You will never like everyone in your band or orchestra. Learn to do your part, make friends with a handful of people and learn everyone else's name. Beyond that, you should keep to yourself and limit conversation to small talk. Spending too much time on relationships with band mates will draw you into the drama, and you will end up making enemies instead. Focus on the music and your own advancement, and you will be much happier with yourself and find it much easier to get along with others.
