Q:Hi-i just bought a new Lite-on DVD ROM drive for my PC and there is no stereo audio output cable supplied to connect to my M/B--can anyone please let me know if the drive will give audio output just by connecting only the data cable +power supply cable?Thanks---best wishes to all
You don't need the audio cable - cd/dvd drives will simply read the digital data off the disc and convert it to an analog signal on the motherboard.
Q:What are the requirements for the safe distance of the cable line?
The wires are long and the voltage will drop, and the wires are resistive, although the wires are made of copper and aluminum with a low resistivity, but the resistance of the wires can not be counted. If the resistance of the wires is one ohm, The current is 10A. Then the voltage drop on the wire is 10V. With 220V power supply. Call the electrical device at both ends is 210V. So long-distance transmission to use high pressure. If the distance is not long thick copper wire can be used to reduce the voltage drop
Q:Could someone please help me! I got a new Comcast digital cable box today and I pressed something that erased all the codes programmed into the remote. I can't control my box now! Does anyone know the code?
try pushing the cable button on the top of the remote. If you actually need to program the remote, You need to say brand the box is.
Q:I have a Media Center PC with an IR blaster port, and a set-top box with a IR command port. I also have an IR blaster cable, and an IR receiver cable, both of which appear to be using nothing more than standard mono audio cables. My question is, can I simply connect a mono audio cable between the two, and will it work? Will Windows be smart enough to detect the setup, and if not, is there anything I can do to make it work?It doesn't work with a stereo audio cable (I tried that), and I just wanna know if it'll work before I run out and buy an otherwise useless mono audio cable.I know that I could just tape the IR blaster to the IR receiver, but that seems a waste if a simple cable connection would work just as well.
I don't know exactly what you are trying to do Are you trying to control your cable box with Media Center? Uh, I am gonna say no. Not sure why you want to You can always use a sling box to control your cable box and stream the video / audio to the PC.
Q:Does anyone know if the Logitech Harmony remotes can control my Comcast cable box? I was thinking of purchasing one, but there no point if I can't use it to watch TV. Will I be able to use one like the comcast remote and navigate through the menus and On Demand?
I have a Harmony 880 and it can control just about any device you could imagine. All you need is the model number. Programming isn't so tough when you use the computer but it takes some tinkering with to get perfect. Enjoy your remote. By the way my advice would be only buy a Harmony if you have a more significant system, particularly if you're using an A/V receiver.

Could it be the weather? Sometimes--if everything checks out--it can be that. I should know: I live in the Northwest and internet disruptions are very common here because of the weather.
Q:Hi there. For those of you who had cable tv in the 1990s, what was it like? Did you need a cable box? Best answer gets 10 points.
You did require a decoder box, just like you do today. Most of the stations that were cable only, were completely commercial-free, which was awesome. Channel outages and audio/video issues were much more frequent. It also wasn't quite as packaged for National consumption as it is nowwith Learning Channel, etc. You also had a lot of per-channel choicesyou could order HBO, but not Cinemax. Now, you have your choice of the company's Packages which are much more expensive. Manhattan Cable was the best. They had the freakiest local programming. During one show, some straight-laced guy would litterally sit at a desk and take phone calls, no matter how insane/obscene they were. You would never see that today. Its much more controlled and censored. Cable TV has now become such an ugly big business, thanks to Mis-management in companies like Adelphia, Cox and Comcast. Also, phone and internet services through your cable was still all but science fiction at the time.
Q:i just replaced input shaft seal. and now the trans wont shift vary well i know there is oil in all the gears. now i know about the tv cable and the govinor. but they both look fine. but i really dont know. but here is what happens. i put it into revers and it shifts hard but i can drive. then i shift to drive. then i get going i get to 25mph it should shift to 2nd but it dont and my rpm is 2500 i hold speed at high rpm then it shifts. but i try it again to get to 3rd but i have to floor it to kick in overdrive to make it shift and by this time i think im in 2nd going 55 then i let go and it might be in 3rd but im puching 3500rpm going 55 i use to be going 1100rpm b4 i dropped the trans.this is all in a 84 gmc jimmy 5.0.i dont know what to do.

Q:I have a Panasonic PVC2032W TV/VCR combination and a Comcast Cable DTA digital converter box. I am trying to program the DTA remote supplied by Comcast to control the volume and power of the TV (as described i the instructions) but none of the programming codes provided work (codes 10250, 10051, 10055, 10162, 10226, 10375, 11310, 11410, and 11919). Does anyone know any other code that might work?
That remote won't program to a tv/vcr combo, if you call Comcast or go into the Comcast Cable Store you can get a DCX Universal Remote, it will control the dta and will program to your tv.
Q:I am just going to hook up my sub and amp into my stock stereo but im just wondering if they have like a bass control that I can hook up to my stock stereo? Is there anything from bestbuy?
Some amplifiers have a bass control option. The jack looks a lot like a telephone jack. If yours doesn't you can still purchase a universal subwoofer gain control. It simply has RCA inputs and outputs. Use a high to low adapter on the radio and feed it into the gain control's inputs. run the outputs to your RCA cable that goes to the amp. Turn the amp's gain all the way up and use the control to lower it. Enjoy!
