Q:A water pump that consume 2kW of electric power when operating is claimedto take in water from a lake and pump it to a pool whose free surface is 30 m above the free surface of the lake at a rate of 50 L/s. Determine if this claim is reasonable. You have to show the minimum power required is 14.7 kWand i can't get it.
A liter of water mas a mass of 1Kg. How much work must be done to raise 50 Kg of water through a height of 30 m? You can say: Work done (W) = potential energy gained (mgh), Or you can say that Work done is the weight force (mg) * the distance moved against the force (h) Either way, W = m * g * h where m is the mass; g is the acceleration due to gravity {9.8 m/s?}; h is the height W = 50 * 9.8 * 30 = 14700 J If you need to do that amount of work in one second, that's a rate of working of 14700 J/s A joule/second is a watt. Minimum power required = 14700 W = 14.7 kW
Q:i'm trying to make a small water fountain, i have a tiny motor that i can use, but i dont know how to use it to make the water go up :( haha heeeelpthanks in advance:)
I doubt that your motor is waterproof. You would do better to just purchase one of the many fountain pumps all ready available at many home improvement centers or online. They are water proof and have the pump and motor all in one enclosure.
Q:How do you remove the water pump from bmw m42 engine?
Remove fan from pulley (usually using a big special open end wrench) turning clockwise with you in front of the car/engine. Loosen bolts holding pulley to water pump (but do not remove bolts and pulley yet). Adjust fan belt tensioner to remove alternator belt (there is a plastic cover in the middle of the tensioner pulley under which is a bolt usually torx 50 with which you can adjust the pulley pulling clockwise/to the right). Proceed to remove bolts and pulley from water pump. Remove bolts from water pump. Put 2 screws into the empty/previously unused holes in the sides of the water pump to pull it out. Remove and replace water pump. Refill with coolant. Bleed cooling system to remove air from the system.
Q:I have a 1985 Jaguar XJ6 that runs great, that I was thinking about trading for a 1991 Alfa Romeo 164 that needs a water pump. Just wanted to get feedback from Alfa owners and find out how hard it would be to put a water pump in the car. Thanks
About $130.00 for the water pump (first link below). As for the difficulty, take a look at the second link for a good thread on replacing the water pump on the 164.
Q:I'm not too familiar with computerized cars, just wondering if the water pump going out would cause the car not to start?
Drain coolant, would would desire to eliminate coolant reservoir, next pull belt tensoner back and eliminate belt remembering the way its routed. next eliminate the bolts on w-pump pulley eliminate outer ring of bolts on pump. sparkling gasket setting up new one ,.bleed air from equipment to pevent overheat.desire that's stable.
Q:have a leak and want to replace the pumphave tools, any thing I should know before getting started?I intend to:drain from lower hose of radiatortake of fan ( using a 1 1/2 wrench method)do I need to remove shroud first???remove fan, remove serpentine belt then remove water pump , use a little brake cleaner to clean new pump gasket area and existing engine area, put a little gasket sealer on gasket and replace pump.put everything back on, and refill with prestone Green coolant.its what is in there now and it says dextrol only but is that necessary?, most people in the know I ask say it does not matter...hows that sound?
sounds like you know what your doing. but i would advise you to take the shroud off first because it will get in the way. you might want to replace your hoses and thermostat also and use a gasket scraper instead of brake clean. happy wrenching.
Q:I need to do a new water level indicator interface for an experimental rig. I'm going to have the buttons that will start and stop the pump. And a column that will show the percentage of the water level in the experimental rig. Please help. I'm so clueless. And this is my final project. :(
They're equal (VB and VB6 variations of VB, surely VBA is super high-degree) in the phrases of where they rank within the excessive-stage/low-stage programming language rankings. Java is extra priceless without problems for the reason that it results in other matters (and could be very marketable on it's own), particularly c/c++/c# and net languages like php/javascript which have c-like cyntax. VB.Web and VB6 don't particularly result in so much (although they each support comprehend object-orientation). you can do the identical matters with visual normal that you can do with Java or C++. You are not able to do the identical things in VB as c++. For C# that you would be able to make a small case because it does aid c++-like code (hazardous keyword) but absolutely not VB.Internet (or VB6 most likely). Just are trying doing a C# an identical of stackalloc in VB.
Q:I have a 1.5 horse Power Hit and Miss engine? Is it possible to buy a water pump I could run off of the hit and miss engine that would pump water from a river over a big hill and little ways and into a water tank or is this just a waste of time. How much water could I pump at a time? A trickle or a gush of water? When I say hill I don't mean like a little hill in your yard I mean a hill you have to hike up? If you don't know are there any resources I could access? Where could I buy such a pump if there is one?
A horse and a half won't do much. You would be better off with a hydraulic ram type pump if you can get about a 10 or 15 foot fall before the ram. It will pump about 4 or 5 times the height of the fall, but in small quantities. It will run 24/7 without gasoline, so it will fill a tank over a long period of time. The railroads used them during the steam era when they had huge water towers out on the plains.
Q:I am planning to build a koi fish pond, and I know I need a water pump. All I know is that a water pump will circulates water. Does it do anything else? does it act like a filter? does it provide aeration or oxygen to the pond?
It only circulates the water, nothing else. Also, make sure your pond won't be in sunlight the whole day. Sunlight makes algae grow. ~ZTM
Q:I have an 1982 El Camino 305 small block and am having troubles with determining if it is the gasket or the pump. I can't quite locate a leak, but it seems to centralize from the water pump and drip down the hose to the radiator. After my engine gets hot, which mind you my temp light has never turned on, and I shut of my car steam rolls out from behind my pump. I think it is the pump and please be it so. (Easier and cheaper fix. Replacement with a inexpensive part XP.)
Most likely it is the water pump... Probably leaking from the weep hole at the bottom of the pump and coolant is running down the lower hose. Head gaskets blowing on a small block Chevy is pretty rare unless you have ran it HOT!, which you have said you have not done. Use an inspection mirror and look under the pump just behind the pulley and see if the coolant is coming out of the weep hole. Small block Chevy water pump is inexpensive to buy.. Good luck
