- Q:I am a 20 y/o male ectomorph body type 130 lbs 5'7. I have been working out for about 2 years but probably only started getting serious with compound exercises with high weight, low reps, for about 2 months.I have already seen alot of improvements by doing more compound exercises vs isolated ones. I do squats, deadlifts, clean and press, dips, chin ups, etc, but when it comes to the bench press.... I just feel flat out weak. I am doing 5x5 for my sets/reps. I can only put a 45 on the bar and barely get it up 5 full reps. It's been like this for awhile. - Sierra, unless you are already very talented...no one will entertain your desire for a press pass. At an event there is a lot that goes on in the background...the last thing anyone needs is an inexperienced photographer getting in the way. Every teenager dreams of what you are asking...the reality is that photography isn't as glamorous as you imagine...it's hard graft. For a press pass you would be expected to have a complete understanding of photography techniques...it would also help if you had some evidence to support your experience...like student ID...an evening or weekend class in photography would be a great place to start...this helps you meet people that can guide you towards the best route for your goals...camera clubs and photography groups are also a great source of advice and experience...great for building contacts that might be useful in the future. If you want to learn how to photograph concerts or gigs then keep your eyes and ears open for local community events and use these for practice...my reasoning for this is...it helps you realise exactly what goes on in the background to support an event...if you can manage to pull off some decent shots it helps build a portfolio at the same time...if you can't get the shots you dream about then you wouldn't manage to get them at one of your idols concerts either...and you might want to consider your next scheme. If you are determined to go in this direction then ask one of your teachers to help you with your approach and contact a local community newspaper to ask if there would be any chance you could shadow one of their photographers...even a church newsletter is worthwhile experience if it uses your images...you need to start somewhere...not many 15 year olds start with getting a press pass.

You WILL almost always feel your shoulders being worked on BP, but the pain should not set it. I would lower the weight and work my way back up by getting more strength. Simply pyramid. For example 135lbs x 12 reps 145lbs x 10 reps 155lbs x 8 reps 165x 6 reps 145 x Failure This exact routine will help build strength and size and will give you a nice pump to engorge those muscles with blood and nutrients, meaning if you eat a meal or take a protein shake right after, it will easily be delivered into the muscle fibers. This is just an example, do it to YOUR OWN strength levels. Don't try and be braveheart on the first set because the rest of your regiment will fail. Good luck.

- leg press can be too easy with the 45 degree thing, much better progress and larger muscles can come doing squats and its better for flexibility as well yes bad circulation will exhaust your muscles and the bigger the muscles the bigger the effect. maybe you need some hypoxic training?
