Q:I bought a 1999 Volkswagon jetta and there is no sound coming from the speakers. There are speaker cables, power cables, and input cables in the trunk. The powers cables ( there is 2 of them) are both connected to the negative terminal of the battery. There is also 2 input cables. Do I need an amp in order for my speakers to work? If I do how do I connect it? I connected my ipod to each speaker individually and they all work.
what your probably missing is actual RCA cables from the head unit or you speakers were supposed to be connected to a amp and when the original owner took the amps he didn't connect the amp back to the stereo. so if you want theres more than one thing you can do. have a shop connect the speakers back to the head unit. get an 4! channel amp and have it hooked up also by a shop or you can try your self but i recommend a shop doing it if your not confident. but theres really no mechanical problem so you don't have to drop any money on replacing any speakers certainly if they sound good up to your quality when you heard them.
Q:can you use just one power (positive) cable cut it and use the rest for your negative
Wire is wire. The only difference is the insulation color. The biggest problem in using wire with the same color insulation is that it's really easy to get them reversed. And just one fraction of a second of reversed polarity and the amp power supply (maybe other things too) is fried. If you insist on using the same color, you should slip a short piece of shrink wrap onto the end of the negative wire close to the terminal so it can be readily identified.
Q:Wire and cable should be used in parallel when the attention

Q:Apparently my computer has a 300 watt power supply. I am wanting to purchase a new graphics card but apparently in order to get a better graphics card then my existing card, Geforce 8400, I need a larger power supply. What will I need to purchase to increase the power supply to 500 watt and is it really worth buying all this? I am thinking I might aswell save up a bit more and buy a new computer.Any help apprietiated, thank you.
Replacing okorder /... That link sorts the power supplies (ones in the 500 to 600 Watt range) by customer rating. DON'T cheap out on a power supply, you will only have headaches down the road. Stay away from companies like Rosewil and HEC for power supplies. I love the Antec brand, been using them in my PC builds forever (15+ years). Also, look for ones with a 120mm fan, they are a lot quieter. One note.... some computer manufacturers use a non-standard power supply, and you cannot retro-fit a standard ATX style power supply in their case. I have an old Dell that uses a really long and slim power supply that sits at the bottom of the case, and I am stuck with it unless I buy an upgrade from Dell (which aint gonna happen).
Q:I tried asking WikiAnswers but no answers. So I wanted to ask here.
Power cable supply power to the device, so its charging speed is greater than while charging it with data cable
Q:I have a SATA hard drive and a SATA cd drive. Is the power supplied through the SATA cable or do i need seporate power cables
there is a sata power cable that u need to plug in, it comes from ur power supply and is a lil different than the normal power cable .
Q:I recently moved from one state to another and brought my XBox 360 and games with me, but forgot the power supply, power cable and AV cables. I can't get a family member to ship them because they are all locked in storage and even if I mailed the keys, they are probably buried under everything else anyway. Most electronics stores sell the AV cables so that isn't a problem. But nobody seems to carry the power supply. Most places I've found online carry generic or no-name brand equipment which I want to stay away from for something this valuable and will only purchase genuine Microsoft equipment. Where can I look or buy it? Will I have to order right from Microsoft themselves?

Q:why power cables are to be earthed at both ends?
Its called the M.E.N. system. It stands for Multiple Earth Neutral. The neutral of an appliance acts as a return, held at a low potential by earthing at each house, using rods into the ground, transformers in the street with earths, and earth mats where required when soils are not conductive. When a fault occurs to earth the low earthing point causes the fuse / breaker to trip. GL
Q:Is the ribbon cable the data cable and the wires the power cables?
You are correct. Power cables will always have 4 or more separated wires going into a plug. Data cables have all of their internal wires inside a single sheath.
Q:I had gave my amp a 16 volt input, then there was a spark which came from fuses that got burnt. I then replaced the fuses, rewired it nd gave it a 12 volt input it came on and went on protection. So i left it aside and after a few days i tryd connecting it again but this time it came on and it was burning the power cables no matter what guage wire i used. Any idea why its doing that?
