- Q:Ive been thinking of subscribing to some magazines, I don't know much about gardening but I'd like to start one next spring, vegetables and flowers, and I'll prolly be planting some stuff this fall too (tulips! maybe other stuff too?) So some magazines with lots of information and tips would be nice. I was thinking of getting better homes and gardens, but I'm not sure, maybe that and another one.. Any suggestions?
- Blooms Birds, or Birds Blooms. I can never remember which way it's suppose to be even though we subscribe to it. Lot's of interesting and educational articles worth reading.
- Q:How can I make sun-dried tomatoes using tomatoes from my home garden?

- Q:The recipe is for Blue Cheese Bacon Mini Corn dogs. I was reading the magazine in a dentist's office, and didn't have time to right it down. I figured it would be on the Better Homes Gardens web site, but it isn't, and I couldn't find it any where else on line. Also...would cubed steak taste better than mini hot dogs with the blue cheese and bacon?
- Well I see you were given the recipe. I have another suggestion for you. Whenever this has happened to me while waiting in a doctors office, if there's an article that I want to finish reading, etc. I just ask the receptionist if I can take the magazine home with me. They've never said no before. I also like to return the favor by taking my own read magazines and giving them to my doctors offices to add to their collection. Not only am I returning the favor but the magazines are put to good use, a lot better than throwing them away. (my trash company doesn't offer those recycle bins)
- Q:I am in college, but I want to start a garden just in case a plague hits. I don't have any physical area (like land) to keep my vegetables. What would be a good place? Maybe large or small pots, or wheel barrel. I also need it to be mobile. Also, can anyone give me the best survivalist websites?
- You need a lot of room to grow enough to sustain yourself try Hydroponics, its the only way to grow in a small confined area a lot of pots in an enclosed area is asking for dampness humidity problems and if the dirt is not clean, welcome to gnat city hydroponics can be set up to grow vine type plants that hang from a string to get more yield, but IMHO you wasting your time unless you have a good sized room supplemented with light from outside, if you want to use pots use vermiculite/perlite mixture and powered all purpose hydroponic nutrients you will have to learn how to adjust the PH information is readily available on line on how to do this and what to use as far as being mobile, that is something I would be wanting to see myself hydroponics can be set up and broken down very easy given the right system.
- Q:I'm almost 30 and am due with my first child in December. I have worked a fulltime job since I was 17 mostly in nursing. My husband and I decided it would be best if I just stay home with the baby once she is born. My issue is I know I will go stir crzy after a month or so. What are some hobbies I can do at home? PS I can't do any art things(like drawing painting etc.)because I royally suck and can't grow anything so gardening is kind of out

- My second oldest son just got put in charge of the big garden at his university. My oldest son has a huge garden and is selling vegetables to farmers markets and to an inn near his home. His wife was raised on a farm but he's the one that does most of the work in the garden. I'm glad they didn't think it was a girl thing when they were young. They were great helps in the home vegetable garden my husband and I have. That second oldest son also designed and planted a study garden. It was a place for him to study away from his younger siblings. Its a great place to go to for peace and quiet. Its full of ferns, flowers and shrubs. Grow some weird vegetables that will amaze your friends and shut them up. I grow brilliant GREEN and blue corn, purple sweet potatoes, purple green beans, purple tomatoes and purple potatoes. You can find the seeds from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds. BTW, the guy that founded Baker Creek started the company when he was just a kid and look where its taken him!
