Q:When i was young, my dad used to make us meatloaf from the Red 'Better Homes and Gardens recipe book... when my mom left, she took the book, so we don't have the recipe anymore.i am looking for the meat loaf recipe for using the microwave. I've found a copy of the baked version from BHG website, but it just isn't the same... the help would be VERY MUCH appreciated.(ingredients were eggs, milk, bread crumbs, onion, mustard, brown sugar and ketchup...)
FOUND IT!!!! Microwave Meatloaf with Tomato Sauce Ingredients 1 8-ounce can pizza sauce 1/2 cup shredded zucchini 1/4 cup rolled oats 1/4 cup finely chopped onion 3 tablespoons snipped fresh parsley 1 teaspoon bottled minced garlic 1 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper 1 pound lean ground beef 1/2 pound uncooked ground turkey breast Directions 1. In large bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of the pizza sauce, the zucchini, oats, onion, 2 tablespoons of the parsley, 1/2 teaspoon of the garlic, the thyme, salt, and pepper. Add beef and turkey; mix well. Shape meat mixture into a 7x4x2-inch loaf. Place loaf in a greased 9-inch microwave-safe pie plate or greased 2-quart square baking dish. 2. Cover meatloaf with waxed paper. Microwave on 100% power (high) for 5 minutes, turning plate once*. Tilt dish slightly and spoon off drippings. In a small bowl, stir together the remaining pizza sauce, remaining parsley, and remaining garlic. Pour evenly over meatloaf. Cover with waxed paper; microwave on 50% power (medium) for 21 to 24 minutes or until cooked through (165 degrees F), turning plate twice*. Makes 6 servings. 3. *There is no need to turn the dish if your microwave has a turntable JM
Q:Hey I've always liked gardening and planting things and I can finally get a push through some of my greatest endeavors in the field as a newbie and I was wondering if there are any cool, helpful, online gardening communities I could join for tips, tricks, discussion and such.
Here is a fantastic place for garden tips and it is regularly updated news.gardentoolbox .uk/
Q:I planted some Romano beans and some corn just a week before last. What stunned me--by the end of the first week--was just how *fast* the corn grew, while only *one* of my Romano bean cups blossomed in full--while the other three have not.Why is that? All 4 were planted at the same time, all got the same amount of sunlight and such, but only *one* exploded outright. Is it genetics, a 'switch' that still needs to be turned on, or is it something else entirely?I'm sure that the rest will grow on their own--eventually--but this recent growth spurt just took me by surprise.
I'm no gardening expert, but do know that genetics is at least 1/2 as important as the environment, both in nurturement of human beings, and romano beans, lol. Possibly there could have been a few more nutrients in the one that exploded, grew faster, in the soil, perhaps a dead bug or worm was there, where the other three missed out on that opportunity. Not only are nutrients from worms important, but also bees in fertilization of crops like beans and corn. As you probably know, the USA bee population has been in decline for years, due to many reasons too. The worse problem of gardening in many places will be squirrels, rabbits, moles and other varmints that will wait patiently for their own ill-gotten rewards from your hard labor. Putting up some small wind-mills or having a cat or dog in the yard can help reduce that problem. Good luck in trying to reduce the carbon footprint by home-gardening.
Q:A LONG time ago I had made a Tuna and Rice casserole, I used the recipe out of a very old Better Homes cook book. IDK what had happened to the cookbook, but it was the best thing I had ever tasted and I cant remember the whole recipe but I do remember some of its ingredients. I really only want the recipe out of a better homes cook book. So if you have one of these cook books, flip open to casseroles and 'if' it is there PLEASE share. I have looked everywhere for this recipe and I cant find it anywhere.
* 1 small onion, chopped * 1-1/2 teaspoons vegetable oil * 2/3 cup water * 3 tablespoons Homemade Cream-Style Soup Mix (recipe also in Recipe Finder) * 3/4 cup frozen chopped broccoli, thawed * 1 can (6 ounces) tuna, drained and flaked * 1/2 cup milk * 1/4 teaspoon salt * 1/8 teaspoon lemon-pepper seasoning * 1-1/2 cups cooked rice * 2 tablespoons slivered almonds, toasted Directions * In a small skillet, saute onion in oil until tender. In a microwave-safe dish, whisk together water and soup mix. Microwave, uncovered, on high for 1-1/2 to 2 minutes, whisking occasionally. Add soup to sauteed onions. Stir in the broccoli, tuna, milk, salt and lemon-pepper; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer for 5 minutes or until broccoli is tender. Stir in rice. Cook and stir 2-3 minutes longer or until heated through. Sprinkle with almonds. Yield: 2 servings. Tuna and Rice Casserole published in Cooking for One or Two Cookbook
Q:I am planning to get a home spa. Any tips about which one to buy?
Raji, go visit a Home Garden Show, which are plentiful in California and along the westcoast. There you find exhibits of so many spa dealers, that they literally fall over each other.
Q:Do you think that Garden Offices like Outbuilds are a good solution for home workers ??...Does any work in a garden office, does is seperate your personal from work life ?
no, they look very small....just separate one room in your home and make it your business...get dressed for work, and close the doors...only allow interruptions if necessary.
Q:Spicy , Lamb, Peas and Mint can someone please give me the recipe it was on Better Homes & garden tonight?
Could not find it on website but it says everything from tonights show will be in the may copy of better homes and gardens.
Q:E.g. size, location, rooms etc.
I usually think of British homes to be much like the ones in America but perhaps often somewhat smaller. I understand that those Agga cookers (a kind of stove) are also pretty common in the kitchens there. The way I understand those, they remain on 24/7 and 365 days a year which is unusual by American standards and practically unknown here . I've noticed from visiting there that the British take a lot of pride in the appearance of their houses, yards, and home gardens. From what I've seen, real estate prices in England are very high. .
Q:How should a house with a garden be decorated?
Japanese dry landscape plants and landscape elements to match the fence to reflect
Q:WHAT ARE HOME REMIDIES FOR KILLING GRUBS IN YOUR VEGTABLE GARDEN
Beware of any home remedy used in a vegetable garden. The cure may be worse than the disease. I have seen some crazy things on this website which should not EVER be used on edible crops. I'd recommend that you learn to live with them unless you can specifically identify them as doing damage to your plants. In all likelihood they are not harming anything. You should squish them when you find them. Beware of home remedies in vegetable gardens and on any edible plant....and PLEASE use spell check. Bug Doc
