Aluminium is a relatively soft,durable, lightweight, ductile and malleablemetalwith appearance ranging from silvery to dull gray, depending on the surfaceroughness. It is nonmagnetic and does not easily ignite. A fresh film ofaluminium serves as a good reflector (approximately 92%) of visible light and an excellent reflector (asmuch as 98%) of medium and far infrared radiation. The yield strengthof pure aluminium is 7–11 MPa, while aluminium alloys have yield strengths ranging from200 MPa to 600 MPa. Aluminium has about one-third the density and stiffness of steel.It is easily machined, cast, drawn and extruded.

Aluminium alloys (or aluminum alloys; see spellingdifferences) are alloysin which aluminium(Al) is the predominant metal. The typical alloying elements are copper, magnesium,manganese,silicon,tin and zinc. There are twoprincipal classifications, namely casting alloys and wrought alloys, both of which are furthersubdivided into the categories heat-treatableand non-heat-treatable. About 85% of aluminium is used for wrought products,for example rolled plate, foils and extrusions.Cast aluminium alloys yield cost-effective products due to the low meltingpoint, although they generally have lower tensile strengthsthan wrought alloys. Q:Metalic Finish On Aluminum?
Most colored aluminum is anodized. A process where a colored finish is bonded to the aluminum. What ever you use, make sure to scuff the surface with a Scotch Brite pad and clean the surface with alcohol to remove any dust as well as oily residue ( from handling ). Use a primer compatible with both aluminum and the finish coat.
Q:Why doesn't aluminium rust?
Rust as we know it is a common term for ferric oxide, which is corrosion/oxidization of iron alloys. So technically, aluminum does not rust. However, aluminum does oxidize very rapidly when exposed to air. So aluminum always has a thin coating of aluminum rust (perhaps alumrust would be the term?). The good news is that aluminum oxides are very thin and remain well bonded to the surface forming a protective coating that helps protect from further, deeper corrosion. Ferric oxide on the other hand flakes easily from the surface and forms cracks that actually assist the corrision process. Caution though that under the right conditions, heavy corrosion of aluminum can occur resulting is similar flaking of the oxides and loss of the protective oxide layer. I've seen dusty piles of aluminum oxides when aluminum was used in a highly corrosive environment. Also, consider that there are steels that are highly resistant to corrosion. Think surgical stainless steel. All metals can and will form oxides.
Q:How do you make aluminum foil reflective?
Aluminum foil already IS reflective, at least on the shiny side. The trick is to avoid crumpling it. You can try carefully gluing a piece of foil, shiny side up, to a piece of cardboard, masonite, or thin plywood (use a gluestick on the cardboard or whatever) then rolling it smooth with a brayer, rolling pin, etc.. Here's another approach to consider - use Mylar, like from an old helium balloon, or you can buy rolls at party stores. If you need just a smaller mirror, get an embroidery or quilting hoop (thrift shops often sell them inexpensively, and you can get them in sizes up to nearly 2 feet in diameter) that's at least 1-2 smaller than your Mylar piece, then stretch the Mylar evenly in the hoop. Presto - instant mirror! If you don't want to mess with the hoop, you can just glue the Mylar to cardboard, Masonite, etc. - Mylar doesn't crumple nearly as badly as foil. If you have any good thrift shops near you, take a look there for mirrors - you may find you can buy a used one as cheaply and more easily than you could make one.

There is a wide source for scrap aluminum foil mainly from the package of cigarette, food and medicine, whose main component is aluminum, so it has high economic and social value to recycle scrap aluminum foil. The best conditions to produce poly aluminum chloride with scrap aluminum foil and the range of application for purifying water have practical significance for the increase of resource utilization rate and environment protection after test and research.
