Q:How long should a water pump last?
unless the pump is leaking it is not the problem
Q:I want a water pump that I can tie into my home water and put on a timer.?
Most self watering devices for animals don't use a timer. Imagine a big coffee can with no lid, with a small hole on the side near the lip. Fill the coffee can with water, place a pie tin over the coffee can opening, and flip them both over. The pie tin will fill with water for awhile, but only until it covers the hole in the side of the coffee can. At that point, air can't get into the coffee can, therefore water can't get out of the coffee can. Your pets will drink out of the pie tin. When the water level falls below the hole in the side of the can, a little air gets in, and a little water gets out. So water will be available on demand for your pets until the coffee can is empty. A coffee can holds nearly a gallon of water, and being short and squatty your pets won't knock it over. Fun science project.
Q:When is it necessary to replace the timing belt and water pump on a 2001 Mazda Protege?
That could have either the 1.6 liter or 2.0 liter engine. My information shows that if you have the 1.6 liter, at least you don't have to worry about bending valves against pistons if the belt breaks -- you'll just be stuck out on the road until you can get it towed and fixed. Not so with the 2.0 which is an interference engine. So if you DO have the 2.0, pay attention -- you don't want an expensive breakdown! You're on borrowed time at 75K. For both engines, Mazda recommends that you replace the timing belt every 60K miles. Gates (a major replacement supplier) seems to think these belts will go 105K. Since it's a factory belt, stick with 60K. As for the water pump, it's often one of those while you're already in there sort of things when you're doing a timing belt. 60K makes it a tougher call, especially with the better quality of water pump bearings and seals. If your interval were 80K ~ 100K as is true on some cars, I'd say go for it without blinking. As cheap as it'll be (it's really just the price of the pump), and it was my set of wheels, I'd do it anyway, even at 60K, if it needed to be pulled to do the belt.
Q:i am looking for a water pump?
Flow? Head? suction pressure? Type of pump if that matters to you? You'll get better suggestions if you provide as much information as is relevant.
Q:What is optimal on/off cycle for well water pump?
There is no optimum time. This is dependent on several factors. Assuming you are pumping into a small tank which is pressurized by the inflow of water from the pump (and the pressure also controls the pump) these reasons can be excessive use of water, the air space at the top of your tank has been absorbed into the water over a period of time and the volume of compressed air too small causing the pressure to drop too fast, or you could have leak in your water piping. If there is not enough air space in your tank, the pump will cycle extremely fast. If you don't have a tank, then the above information is incorrect. Good luck.
Q:what is the discharge amount of 10hp water pump?
the discharge amount in a water pump is very much.
Q:How long will a bad water pump last?
If the water pump is being described as quite loose then typically the bearing would be going out and the water pump very well could go at any time, the severity of possible damage if that happens and it overheats is ridiculous. Don't risk it. If it was a drip from the weep hole in the water pump then you could ignore it for a bit or a gasket leak for as long as you needed but if it's loose as your mechanic suggests the pulley/shaft can go without warning.
Q:water pumps?
There are many types of water pumps. What type are you interested in?
Q:my car spilled water from its water pump what does that mean?
your car was almost out of water t overheated and blew a hose. You need to find out what is leaking the coolant out and fix it. You did not mention the year make or model so there is little we can advise. Many cars have a weep hole on the botton of the water pump and when the seal breaks this is usually because the bearing in the water pump is worn. Put in a new pump and inspect all heater hoses and radiator hoses replace the thermostat and then add coolant. Be sure to open the heater core so no air bubbles block the system.. leave the radiator cap off and let the car warm up good so the thermostat opens and coolant starts to curculate rev the enging slowly several times to work out any air fill the system (replace radiator cap with a new one too) put new cap on and drive around for about ten minutes and park the car. Let it cool so that any coolant needed gets sucked in through the pressure cap. Refill overflow bottle as necessary.
Q:How do I repair/replace a water pump for a '99 GMC Sonoma? I'm leaking water like a runny faucet :(?
you probably hit the nail on the head with the head gasket, but i believe there is also some kind of a heating device that helps to stop the water from getting into the engine. if the heating device breaks water can then condensate and get into the oil. i had to replace this device on my 93 grand am so i know it exists on some cars and trucks. ask around about this heating device. if it's the head gasket there is a STOP LEAK product that you can try from any auto store such as abc auto, pep boys etc. i've used it and sometimes it works sometime not. depends on how bad the leak is.
