- Q:I am in soo much trouble, i am baby sitting at a brand new house. The child im taking care of wet the carpet so i used a hair dryer to dry it out. I found out the carpet was synthetic and it melted, there is a huge melt stain, plz help me, how can i fix it, i will die!!!
- WHAT?? Are you sure that was a hair dryer and not a freekin' HEAT GUN? I've never heard of a hair dryer that was hot enough to melt the typical polymers used in carpeting. In any case, you tried to fix a problem and for some strange reason it didn't work - if I were the owner, I might be upset, but if you really used just a conventional hair dryer, and it indeed melted the carpet, I think I would be more upset with the carpet company. After all, you were trying to do the right thing. Now, if you're lucky, the homeowner will have some spare carpeting that they've saved away for exactly this kind of accident. An experienced carpet layer can surgically replace that using any one of two or three techniques. They can even do this if the homeowner doesn't have some spare carpeting, although that will add some additional cost, and the match may not be quite as good (depends on the color and style, which if the house is new, will hopefully still be available).

- They should warranty it if the carpet itself has a stain blocker warranty. Not all carpets do. Check your paper work for the type you have. Any good company will have given you paper work on the stain properties. Damage to the walls will fall on the installers shoulders. Take pictures and start complaining ASAP. Empire should contact the installers and make them pay for it. And your salesperson will handle the warranty work as far as filing a claim. Don t give in if it brand new and has a warranty. - Q:The rug is to be 6'0 and roughly ?60 max. I've been looking at the Norti Nedi range and have come to a hard decision. do i get a fixed neck where it cannot be removed or do i get a neck attatchement??? but also will this rub at my horse's mane as this is the first time considering a neck??
- My horse has a heavy weight turnout rug which has the fixed neck to keep him warm when it's extra cold and when the snow comes. I didn't see the point in getting a detachable one with this rug as he'll only be wearing it when it's super cold and will always need the neck on anyway. His medium-weight turnout rug has the detachable neck for when it's not cold enough for the heavyweight. this way you can choose if the neck has to be on or not, depending on how cold.
- Q:So I spilled red juice on my carpet last night and thought it would be a good idea to clean it up using bleach and clear soda. Needless to say the bleach kind of messed up the carpet. Is there any way to pull out any of the bleach or to make the stain a little less noticeable? PLEASE HELP!! I really don't want to loose the security deposit....
- My neighbor did that. She bought a box of 94 Crayola crayons and experiment with them until she found a color that matched. She then colored in the spot on the carpet. You have to redo every now and then but it worked. Next time you spill something on the carpet, try using table salt. Just pour it on, let it absorb the wet spot and most of the color will come up. Do not wipe it up just vacuum it up, while it's wet. If the stain is still there do it again. I had to do mine about 3 times but it is hardly noticeable now. My carpet is light tan and the spot was berry red. The spot now is a very, very, pale pink and gets lighter every time I clean it. There is also a cleaner call Krud be gone and Goo gone that may work.

- Q:I was hoovering today and I took a closer look at the carpet when I realised my carpet is full of little white cm long bugs. I searched on google and they are saying it is carpet bettle larve. But looki g at the pictures of these beetle larve they look nothing like them. To give you a picture they are pure white cilinder shapes that have a sort of tuft on each end. They are a cm long and I'd expect a mm in diameter. Please help

- The store I work at sells carpet and I work in the flooring department. 800sq.ft. = approximately 89 sq.yds. carpet on special pricing costs about $20/sq.yd. $20 x 89 = $1790 pad runs $5.31/sq.yd. x 89 = $473 basic labor = $199 there is a $4.99 per step charge average is 12 steps 12steps x $4.99 = $60 total for the room is about $2522. That is for them to come in and install the carpet. that does not include removal of carpet or furniture moving. The pad at $5.31 is 8lb. with vapor barrier. Prices are subject to change in other areas of the country.
