Q:I am intersted in becoming a real estate agent. The situation is: I am currently attending college for my master of bus. adm. (MBA). 1. What is the duration of a real estate class? How many weeks, and hours per day?2. How difficult is the exam for licensure?3. What are the costs--for the course and the license itself?4. Given the demand of the career, is it possible to be a real estate agent while attending college (I will be taking two classes at a time--one during the week at night and one on saturday morning).I would appreciate any honest opinion! Thanks!!!
what I did before i took my exam.. i wrote 500 resumes..that I was interested in working as an assistant........I took all 500 resumes to each real estate office nearby and put a resume in each realtors mailbox.. i got 2 replies immediately and worked out some hours with 2 busy high producing realtors.. i was then able to decide if this was the position I wanted or not...... a friend of mine did the same thing..(a very very well educated lady)......and she was hired immediately..and did mostly spell checking for a high producer.. you get to see the job personally then...........and decide if that is what you want......
Q:Is there really any difference? The past boom in the housing market has lured every scumbag on the planet in to become a real estate agent / realtor. Here in Charleston, SC they will LIe, Cheat and Backstab anyone in thier way to get your business. Why would I trust someone like that to help me find a home, let alone sell mine?
For one, you want someone who's done it for years and you like them. Every industry/career has scum bags. And actually, funny thing is, the last car I bought when i called later to talk to the salesman, he was leaving the car dealership to become a realtor. ha.
Q:When a real estate ad reads investors property, are other eligible buyers permitted to obtain financing on these homes?
This is just the newest way for Realtors to try and sell homes. I would be very wary of anyone saying this is a good investment. Really, if it were so good why isn't the agent buying it and making the money? Can also mean that the house is trashed and it will require tons of money to get it livable. Run. That is my two cents worth.
Q:Well i'm really thinking about going into real estate as a side job. I wanted to do it when i go to college to help pay for expences, I heard you can make a lot of money. Now I don't want to make this a career, but i'm pretty intrested. Now my questions are would this be a good idea? What would i have to do to be lisenced? I'm still in High School, but i thought this would be a good way to start making some money.
Attending college and real estate, NO! You can stop by any real estate office in your state and inquire. New agents in the market today will find it extremely difficult. Those that tell you to get the license then they will use you, not going to happen until you get experience, know how to market, etc. In the North Atlanta area, one of the best during this decline, it currently is averaging for new agents 6 to 8 months to sell or represent a qualified buyer under contract. It does cost to work in real estate. You need a decent late model 4-door auto/suv, your state laws for agents have auto insurance requirements before taking clients. Other costs, school (offered many ways), state test, broker fees you elect to work at, if broker requires (most do), membership fees to join a professional real estate organization, purchase of business cards, purchase of signs, some brokers have fees if you need an office or space in office, costs to print or make copies (different for b/w and color), etc. I, personally, including school through my first 30 days with the broker spent $1,400. Sold first home my 6th month, now 3 years in business averaging 2 a month, but it took time. To be successful, making calls at night when people are home, working weekends, being available for clients. YOUR TIME will be valued as you begin college. At this stage in your life I do not recommend real estate due to time to learn as you begin with a broker, time frame to sell your first home, added expense to begin a real estate career. Hope this helps, stay in-focus with continuing education.
Q:does real estate require a minimum investment?in what denominations is real estate sold?are there fees for withdrawing your money early?is real estate risky or not?what is the interest rate on real estate?when is interest compounded if compounded at all?is real estate protected from inflation?what are the advantages and disadvantages or real estate?i need help with my homework!
Yes, your down payment is your minimum investment. Usually 5% of the purchase price or more. Sold in all denominations unless you buy stock in a Real Estate Investment Trust which might have a $10,000 share price or minimum investment. No fees for withdrawing early but there are selling costs involved. Real estate is risky. Apx 5% interest rate for a buyer today. Not compounded. It is amortized. Real estate gains from inflation.
Q:I have a 9 month contract with a real estate broker - is there a way that I can get out of that contract and still be able to sell my house this year? The way that the r/e agent explained the contract was that I must honor it for 9 months + I think 3 or 6 more months after that (in case someone who came to her open house chooses to purchase the home at a later time)
It okorder Best of luck!
Q:Im homeschooled and really want to be a real estate agent but it says that one of the requirements is to have a high school diploma. Would I have to go to college to get it or would it be different because Im homeschooled?
I thought home schooled kids earn their high school diploma at home. Add: Sorry I couldn't help. Maybe you can post your question in the real estate section and ask some agent if you have to have a traditional HS diploma or not.
Q:I have always wanted to own my own business and be an entrepreneur. I plan to travel the world in the future and I know I am going to live in a big city when I'm older. I have been thinking about going to college for Communications because I want to work in the entertainment industry or something with traveling. BUT if I chose that road, I wouldn't be really owning my own business...So, I've recently been taking an intereste in REAL ESTATE and I know that they can make a really GOOD income. If I chose that route, I could own my own business, work when I want, and when I do work I would be getting paid a lot more.SOOOO my question is...Do Real Estate Agents in NYC get paid alot of money? How would one go about starting THEIR OWN real estate business?
You need to take the training, pass the test, pay the fees and then beat out all the other thousands of brokers for the business. Common logic should tell you that anything that provides easy money is going to be overcrowded.
Q:This is a feild that really appeals to me. I have always been interested. I know it's hard to start out...I have tried and gave up once because of the costs....I was going in debt...lol. But, I want to try again. Any tips? What are some good companies to work for? Any of you make any money within the first couple months? Also, after you work for a while is it possible to work at home...or at least part time at home? I am going to have a baby in the near future? Also, is it better to start off working for a builer rather a real estate company?
I held off on real estate until my children were older because I did not have someone to drop the children off with at a moments notice.,(I was a legal secretary title company closer, which provided me a structured schedule that worked with small kids), and if you are working hard enough to get that phone to ring, there will be those moments notice. Strong buyers know they are few far between and expect to be treated appropriately. Both professions entail a lot of self marketing Know how. As the previous poster mentioned its go/go/go. You must enjoy people resolving issues. YOU are the one that has to decide what you want to do, take it from there. The plus with a small baby, he will sleep a lot so you have time to take online classes learn as much as you can. As to the companies, Interview them, decide where you feel comfortable, don't just run to the first one, but do look around and find your fit. I have met quite a few people who worked for builders and exclaimed how easy it was to get buyers, in most states that is not the case any longer and they are being let go, only a select few remaining. With a real estate company you will get as much experience as you want, I wish you the best and enjoy the baby..
Q:Whats the best way to approach cold calling a large commercial real estate firm about career opportunities? I'm a recent a graduate with a Finance and Economics degree, but I don't have a real estate license...
You don't need a real estate license in order to apply for a job with a commercial real estate company, plenty of people work for commercial real estate companies in positions that don't require one. If you want to go into leasing then you'd need one. What position are you looking for, corporate accounting and finance etc? I guess just submit your resume and ask for a business card for the person who you could speak to then make a follow up call a couple days later.
