Q:When you change the timing belt do you also have to change the water pump?
Just did this myself. You should replace the belt and water pump at the same time. The water pump is not a durable device, the pump seal will eventually start to leak. Getting your timing belt wet is a sure way to lead to a catastrophic engine failure. I replaced the belt tensioner as well. It's good insurance and since you're already in the engine, the added cost is small and the potential for failure moderate. This is not a job for an average DIY'r, I have a full shop and many years of experience and still had a hard time doing the job. I suggest you get it done by a pro. Astrobuf
Q:1995 Ford Contour: Have you experienced repeated failures of your water pump? I have...?
196,000 miles three water pumps is not that bad. Depends where you purchased them. If you opted for cheapies like auto zone then you get what you pay for. Since you are having this problem over and over again, I would agree with the ford technician, purchase one from Ford and see how that does.
Q:what r the signs water pump is going out on 2000 ford focus zx3 2.0l zetec dohc? thanx in advance.?
Its generally around 60 to 75 thousand miles, you want to change that belt. And yes. most of the people saying do the water pump at the same time are correct. That belt rides off the waterpump. That pump only costs around 20 to 25 bucks. it will save you all that extra labor in the end if that pump should fail. Do you HAVE to do the waterpump? NO Should you as a preventive maintenance measure YES.
Q:What does water flow mean?
Forehead... Flow do not understand it....
Q:where's the coolant water pump located on a 1999 Honda accord?
This Site Might Help You. RE: where's the coolant water pump located on a 1999 Honda accord? We've changed the hoses, and thermostat for the radiator. It still leaks coolant but we can't find out where it's leaking from.
Q:01 Tacoma 3.4 V6, does anyone know the average life of the water pump?
Water pump life is a direct function of proper maintenance, therefore there is no real answer to your question. At 89k you could certainly elect to replace the WP as long as the T-Belt is also being done, but it is purely a preventive maintenance item. Might save you a lot of money later, or it might not. Impossible to say. It will give you more peace of mind though.
Q:Why should the water inlet of water pump be fitted with reducer?
Increasing the pipe diameter can reduce the resistance loss along the path and reduce the suction vacuum of the pump! Before the inlet of the pump is a big diameter, when you reach the suction port, and the pump inlet diameter to be consistent, so the use of reducer joints!
Q:How many kinds of pumps are there? What are the advantages of soft start?
The starting modes of water pump are direct start, star triangle start, reactance start, soft start, step-down start and frequency conversion start.1, direct start, generally suitable for small power motors, generally only in the following 15kw pumps, cheap;2, the buck start is the star triangle conversion start, that is, the start is accelerated two times to reach the rated speed, generally in more than 18.5kw pump use, moderate price;3, soft start is gradually increased to the rated speed, the impact on the pump is very small, the price is relatively high, is generally 3 times the buck start;4, the highest frequency conversion is started, in addition to the advantages of soft start, but also can be set at any speed work, energy saving has significant effect.Advantages of soft start:1, the output torque of the motor can meet the requirements of the starting torque of the mechanical system, ensure smooth acceleration, smooth transition, and avoid the impact of destructive torque;2, the starting current to meet the requirements of the motor capacity, to avoid motor heating, causing insulation damage or burnout;3, make the starting current to meet the grid power quality related standards requirements, reduce voltage sag amplitude, reduce the higher harmonic content.
Q:how do I change the water pump on my 93 olds cutless?
For a 2.2 4 cylinder read below: Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain cooling system. Remove serpentine drive belt, then the alternator and bracket. Remove water pump pulley attaching bolts, then remove the pulley, Fig. 20. Remove water pump attaching bolts, then the water pump. Reverse procedure to install. For a 3.3 6 cylinder read below: Disconnect battery ground cable. Drain cooling system, then remove serpentine drive belt. Remove lower radiator hose and heater hose at pump. Remove water pump pulley attaching bolts. Long bolt is removed through access hole located in the body side rail. Remove water pump pulley. Remove water pump attaching bolts, then the water pump, Fig. 15. Reverse procedure to install, torquing bolts to specifications Hope this was helpful!
Q:Well Water Pump Problems?
Yes, they are trying to get your money. Check the breaker and see if it needs to be reset. If your pump is not submersible, you will need to prime it. Remove the gauge or one of the plugs and, with a funnel, fill it with water before you run it. This should be repeated until your pump is primed and filling up the tank. Make sure you have a faucet or two opened when you do this. No matter what, your well does not have to be dug up. It doesn't work like that. The power going out doesn't have anything to do with the water in the well or the piping going down to it. If all else fails, call a different well company to get some advice. Edit- If the pump is running ok, it should be primeable. It takes time to do this. If the pumps impeller was damaged by running dry, the pump may need a rebuild or replaced.
