Q:Its in a vase with water now.
I got1 recently from a friend, I also had my clipping in a vase with water. I left it in near a sunny window until it rooted fairly well(1'' roots or so) and then planted it in a small pot. Just be sure2 bury the roots and cover them well with soil, otherwise exposure to light could kill your spidey! Also, always remember2 water a plant after potting or re-potting.
Q:I‘ve prepared a plastic container with a couple of holes. Can I use potting soil instead of vermiculite? will the eggs be lack of oxygen if i close the lid?
Potting soil is fine, so long as it is sterile. Use steam to sterilize it. The box will have plenty of air. The main problem is drying out. If you have a good scale, weigh the box every so often and add a ml of water for each gram of weight lost. If you don't, just wing it.
Q:i think it would look better... any advice?
I use vermiculite.Moisten it with water. You want it moist, but not wet.Use a plastic container ( gladware or even an empty diaper wipe container) make an impression for each egg and place them about 2/3 into the vermiculite but do not cover them completey.Put on a loose-fitting lid or a lid with a few holes punched in it and place it in a warm place. I have incubated eggs on top of my cable box and on top of the refrigerator. The one on the cable box took nearly 100 days to hatch, while the ones on the refrigerator took from 52 to 70 days. Check the eggs every few days to make sure that they are not too wet ( condensation) or too dry ( sunken, dry feeling). Also watch for mold.If the vermiculite starts to dry out,add bit of water, but do not pour it on the eggs. Also,do NOT turn the eggs,as this will cause the embryos to drown. You can carefully pick an egg up,holding it in the exact position that it lays in the container, and hold a flashlight behind dark room. You wil then be able to see the developing embryo. It's pretty cool. When the babies hatch, place them in small containers on damp paper towels until their egg sacs are fully absorbed. Then you can transfer them to an aquarium with a mixture of lizard litter and moist green moss.Make sure the babies stay hydrated ( use a very shallow water dish, like a peanut butter jar lid) and feed them a mixture of hard-boiled egg yolk, chick starter and canned cat or dog food with cooked, finely mashed carrots, banana, scraped apple and small insects. You can also feed aquatic turtle pellets, moistened and mashed. Add a calcium supplement and a vitamin every other day.
Q:I have to store some Coast Redwood seeds in a bag mixed in with vermiculate. What is that stuff? Is there a way I can grow the seeds in vermiculate without have to put all of the seeds together? I want to grow them in their own pots. Also, How do you grow American Elm? I planted some a while ago, but none have sprouted..... Do they need moisture?
Organic refers to the source of the rice, that is, the farm where it grew. So, if it's from an organic farm, it's organic. Enriching it will not change that status. If it doesn't say brown rice on the bag, then it's just white rice that's been colored in the processing. Uncle Ben's may do that; I'm not sure. Brown rice has more nutrients and fiber than white rice, but is also more susceptible to mold. You have to keep it in a cool, dry place.
Q:Question: How does intraspecific competition affect the growth of individuals in a population?1) what would be the manipulated and responding variable?2) using these materials what kind of procedure could you create to test out the question stated aboveMaterials:Seeds(basil, raddish, grass, lettuce)vermiculite or potting soilflower potsscissorsrulerbalance
Intraspecific Competition Intraspecific competition is a particular form of competition in which members of the same species vie for the same resource in an ecosystem (e.g. food, light, nutrients, space). This can be contrasted with interspecific competition, in which different species compete. For example, two trees of the same species growing close together will compete for light, water and nutrients in the soil. Getting less resources, they will perform more poorly than if they grew by themselves (for example lowered growth rates and fewer seed output). Trees have therefore adapted to grow taller or develop larger root systems through natural selection. Grasshoppers provide an animal example. By eating grass, individual grasshoppers deprive their fellow conspecifics of food. This is an example of exploitation competition, which means that the grasshoppers do not interact directly with each other, but have a negative effect on others' growth and reproduction by their effect on a resource (in this case, grass). Here you can plant the seeds and check their growth using a ruler. You can find that they have intraspecific Competition among themselves.
Q:When I got up this morning I found my roommate sitting at the kitchen table eating what I thought was a bowl of cereal. As I began to make coffee and tell him what a drunken jerk he had been last night I recalled that we had no cereal. When I looked at the bowl I recognized that what he was eating was the vermiculite that I keep in a large Tupperware container for indoor gardening use. He had found it, assumed that it was some kind of Rice Krispy - like breakfast cereal and had put milk and tons of sugar on it. At that point he had finished most of the bowl. Being a grouchy, hung-over jerk he refused to believe me, try as i did, that it wasn't breakfast cereal and finished it. I think the stuff is pretty much inert but I'm no doctor. Should I take him to the ER? Call poison control? At this point he has gone back to bed and is snoring loudly as usual.

Q:my leopard gecko laid eggs two days ago and i already candled them and one of them has a bulls eye thing and the other one is yellow but it has small veins at the bottom of it that kinda form a small circle and this egg is bigger than the one with the bulls eye and neither of them have dents in them or mold or anything they are puffy and white
The bulls eye thing is an embryo, but I believe the second egg you described is infertile.
Q:last night my bearded dragon layed her eggs in her large water bowl,i didntsee them till this morning. she layed 22 all together. i took them out and put them in the container with vermiculite and into the incubator. that was 5 hours ago now. they are still very plum and if i candlelight them i can see the pink spot inside, only thing is they have a yellow tint to them and smell. is there any chance there still alive?what should i do please help!!
What you SHOULD have done was taken the large bowl out and put a small one in. Remember that next time you breed her (if she wasn't bred, why are you incubating slugs? XD). You're probably **** out of luck this time. Incubate the eggs until you're 100% sure they're not going to hatch (i.e. they start to leak or such).
Q:They seem to be healthy. They are both active and eating. They enjoyed a small helpng of some veggies. They also enjoyed a nice soak in a warm bath. I am new to dragons but these guys seem really friendly. How should I prepare for there sudden arival?
I assume you are more concerned with the gravitity you need an incubator for the eggs I have a hovabator they are about $45.00 her gestation period is about 3 to 5 weeks so you can figure how much time you have. do not be disappointed if the first clutch fails its perfectly normal. I will also assume she is over 2 years of age. if not she will need to be watched by a vet because under 2 years can have detrimental affect on your girl. here are some websites that can help you good luck you will love your new buds. My personal opinion is beardies are the best.
