- If you are serious, most work with a motor driven high velocity low volume air mover. Air is sucked through a collection reservoir of some sort, Air is admitted to the reservoir. Yes, they can make ones that are less likely to get clogged, but they must be larger, and have larger motors, reservoirs, and hoses, but those are less suitable for general purpose household or commercial cleaning due to the size of the machine and their power requirements. They are made big for industrial dust/debris collection in factories, and vacuum material collection trucks.

- We've had good vacuum cleaners that lasted almost 20 yrs before the motor died. That one was about $300. Then we couldn't afford to spend as much and a friend bought a great vacuum at Sears with a 12 amp and does a great job. This Sears vacuum was about $150. Not too many cheap vacuums out now that do a good job unless you buy the new powerful Dyson brand for much more money. My Sears Progressive is just fine although it is heavy it does a good job and it is an upright which I like for me because it is easier. Good Luck

I have to vacuum frequently, but I feel guilty when I do because he is so afraid. We have had him for about 2 weeks and are still trying to figure him out. - We got one a couple months ago and I've had no complaints with it. The suction is fine and was as good, if not better, than the others in the store I tested. I like the quick disconnect cord too. You can't go wrong with this choice.

- Yes, they only work decent on wood floors,and it takes them a very long time to do the job, you can do it yourself in a fraction of time compared to how long it takes the robot to do it and some time it won't get the whole area, justs keeps on cleaning the area it just went over, I think they are worthless, just a novelty devise.I'll sell you mine if you really want one (LOL) oh... and they are worthless on tiled floors.
