- Q:Did they have electricity and indoor plumbing? What were the rooms like? Was the house kept tidy? What kind of cleaning equipment was used?Did they have vacuum cleaners, bleach and air freshener?
- Most homes from the 50's were pretty modest. The average one is probably about 900 square feet. They did have electricity. Rooms were smaller than today standards, Houses were kept very tidy, they had bleach and vacuum cleaners.
- Q:how much air does a rainbow vacuum move?
- You okorder /.. If not, you'll find the web link and phone number for Rainbow in the upper right corner of the page.
- Q:crazy. Although I empty my bags or canister frequently, my vacuums only seem to last a few months. I just got a Dirt Devil about 2 months ago and its suction is just horrible now. Can anyone recommend a vacuum for under $500 that will last? Thank you.
- well i have several canister vacumes that work great kenmore's, but for the dog hair i use a small 5 gallon shop vac so that my vacumes wont smell like dog or get clogged.. try a small shop vac works great!!!! and cheap
- Q:Do any ladies have an old vacuum cleaner that they would love to part with? I'm looking for some older style soft-bag uprights if possible. What style/color do you have? Thanks!!
- none, haven't used those in yrs a have a whole house vac, system go to s used store or swap meet, they may have some cheap.
- Q:How does a bagless vacuum cleaner filter the dust? Does it cost as much to replace the filter as a bag?
- There are several kind on the market so can't quote cost. Mine is an Eureka Altima, comes with atatchment hose, xtension, nozel and furnature tool and a self cleaning ceiling fan and blind brush in small cylinder on the side. The basket and several filters are easy to remove to empty and clean. I have even used it's hose to clean off it's outside when needed. It uses what are called Heppa filters for dust etc and they too are washable. Got mine used for $30 at a flee mkt couple years ago and love it. I did break the brush a while back and when I replaced it I also got new filters and a belt. If you wash the filters each time you dump the basket they should last for years. The basket is large enough that you only have to dump it about the same as replacing a bag. The brush did cost me just over $ 30 but the belt and filters was under $ 10. Oh, my wife loves it too.
- Q:All of the quot;vaccum uprug cleaners say to quot;use with a fresh bag in the vacuumDoes that mean they are not appropriate for use with bagless vacuums ? Have any of you out there tried it ? I'd hate to ruin my bagless vac, esp. since it's a pricey Dyson.
- I would Not use the bagless vacuum, I'm thinking the particles from the spray my get lodged in the intricate parts of your vacuum and do something to it. If the particles are trapped in a bag no damage is done. I'm just guessing.Good luck.
- Q:How many of you have a vacuum cleaner that was made dirt cheap?
- Mine was free, I found it in a garbage bin. It's a type of Hoover that looks like a flying saucer, fixed the plug which was broken and volia new free vacuum cleaner. Its taped all over but works really well. Acey Deecey
- Q:Yeah they all seem great the first time you vacuum, but then no matter how clean is the filter they just don't suck. I don't have $70-$100 every month to go and buy new one especially knowing that it's not gonna pick up what it's supposed to. I don't have pets and the carpet is short. Is there anything else out there that works? Does Dyson work as they claim? Please don't tell me to switch to wood floor or tile.
- I own a Kirby. My mother owned a Kirby. I have a neighbor who owned a Kirby for twenty years. She just bought a new one. She didn't retire the old one which still works, but put it in the garage to vacuum the car. (with attachments, of course, not as an upright.) We live in high dust country, the arid southwest. A Kirby is high end on the purchase, but it can vacuum up what the wind brings in for years without problems. Even if it ever has problems, a small engine repair shop can probably refurbish it for you. Just be sure to order lots of bags, and change the bags out regularly.
- Q:I'm having a carpet cleaner come today because the previous renter left some nasty stains and one of my dogs was recently sick and added to it.I was just wondering, before the carpet cleaner comes am I supposed to vacuum, or is that part of their process?
- Vacuum first
- Q:Because it seems to be clogging and breaking all my vacuum cleaners =/
- we have a great Pyrenees and deal with like tons and tons of white Cotton like hair and this may sound crazy but we went through four vacuums yes four before we started doing this get a large push broom freaking sweep up as much hair as u can this actually works really well to get hair up and they sell hair sponges made of foam rubber for furniture which also lift hair up brilliantly without needing refill ! we've had the same vac now foe two years other than maintenance cleaning it has survived thanks to this pre vac step
