Q:Before you say it yourself, yes im an idiot for how this happened. The drivers side windshield wiper arm is not giving any pressure towards the windshield anymore this was because we were kidding around and someone ended up pulling the whole thing down. it is a 1987 chevrolet celebrity. motor and everything else works fine im just getting no pressure on the window so its not making full contact.what can I do myself? please dont say see a mechanic because that is a last resort for me.im looking for help here :)thanks!
The pressure on the blade is derived from an over center spring under the arm attached to stops at either end. The works of the spring is to either hold the arm way up off the glass for wiper service, or to apply pressure to the scraper blade allowing it to roll over according to the direction of travel. If the spring has become stretched beyond it's working range, it will appear normal and Must be replaced as an assembly. If it is missing same fix. But if it is there and not mounted, you might be able to reattach it. Caution as you can get cut trying to fix it.
Q:I have a 94 Honda Civic Del Sol and recently i‘ve been having problems with my windshield wiper blades being really slow. They have always been sub-par (in my opinion). However, comparing to a family‘s 95 ford windstar my FASTEST setting is slower then her SLOWEST setting. Its so bad that during a relatively normal downpour I have needed to pull over due to lack of vision. I have invested in new blades and Rain-X to help. But its really a safety hazard still and I am looking to upgrade. Im pretty sure the motor is shot, so now my question is. . Instead of buying just a replacement motor of what I have. . is it possible to upgrade to a new wiper motor and wand selector that have many speed selections? not just intermittent, low, and high? Possibly a newer model Honda can be used?I like my mom‘s 05 ford freestyle‘s that has 5 speed settings and 3 positions that multiply the speed for a total of basically 15 individual speeds. (or something like that, all i know is its nice)
The blade is the metallic springy area with the rubber in it. Do your self a want and do not play round with branch shop stuff which in no way suits like OEM factors. if your Camry is 13 years old you want to interchange the blades. They couldn't have adequate spring left to correct carry the rubber (which, through ways, is termed a top off) adverse to the windshield. bypass on your Toyota broking service and purchase new blades on your automobile. they ought to fee lower than $20 for both blades, which includes tax. In many years you could only replace the refills. The blades will very last many years and the hot ones will make your wipers artwork like sparkling. it is helpful to have the capacity to work out the position you're going interior the rain, properly? reliable success.
Q:I am shopping for new windshield wipers, and I don‘t know what size to get. If i get longer ones, will it increase my visibility at all?OR if you have a reccommendation for me, my car model is a 1994 Honda Civic EX. :) Thanks!
Yes, the length of your wipers makes a big difference! The wipers are a certain length for your car, longer wipers would probably hit each other. It's a matter of timing. I would recommend either going to an auto parts store a asking the clerk. Or, and this is my choice, you could go to Wal-Mart in the automotive dept. and look at the reference book that they should have and find the listing for your car. There are a number of brands and styles of blades to choose from. You might consider a triple bladed wiper that helps remove mud, etc. Also check out a product called Rain-X, it causes rain, mud, and virtually everything else to slide right off. Just follow directions.
Q:I have removed plastic cap nut but can not pull arm off. The reason is right arm stopped moving so I have to get the grill off that is covering Mtr.
If you have already removed the cap and nut then just take a flat head screwdriver and pop it up to remove the wiper arm. This should work if everything is disconnected from the wiper motor.
Q:10 drink windshield wiper fluid at Ark. day care. How dumb are they?
mmm. windshield wiper fluid. yum not very bright in their part though. Gotta say thats a little retarded. if u think the same thing then we are on the same page amigo.
Q:I have a 03 silverado and the windshield wipers are stuck on. The only way to stop them is to remove the fuss.
Sounds like you need a new switch.
Q:my wife‘s 2003 volkswagen beetle. the windshield wipers don‘t have much power. you need to clean all the snow off before they will move. but even in the rain they will only work for a while. they start to make a growling sound then will just quit. wait a while and they work again. whats the problem? do i just need a new wiper motor?
I can't recall if there is a TSB (technical service bulletin) for this one or not, but in some cases, the wiper shafts will corrode in the bushings that they rotate in causing the wipers to operate slowly or not at all. If you are mechanically inclined, you might try some penetrating lubricant at the shaft to bushing interface on both wipers. Otherwise take it to a good VW mechanic or dealer.
Q:i have a civic hatch that im almost done building and one problem that keeps going through my mind is that i have a rollcage in the car and that rollcage goes through the front and blocks where the windshield wiper assy. goes. i dont want to cut the left bar ( to keep the car stiff) any ideas?
check there is the correct amount of fluid in the gearbox and it is a deep red colour.
Q:I have a ‘97 Pontiac Sunfire that otherwise works fine, but the windshield wipers are acting up. When they are on they work just fine, but when I go to turn them off, they park in the middle of the windshield instead of stowing at the bottom. Any ideas?I already tried taking them off and resetting them when the wipers were off, but that just made them stay at the bottom even when i turned them on.
The wipers sit on what is called the transmission or linkage. That is probably what is wrong. Most likely, you need a new one of these. It is probably missing a few teeth on the linkage.
Q:okay i just a nice honda civic which was previously used for drag, so they got rid of the whole windshield wiper system. where can i go to to buy/install it. i don‘t much about that part of cars. maybe the wires and motor are still intact but i‘m not sure.
Yes and no. While it is possible for new deposits to form due to volcanic and hydrothermal activity, these processes are generally slow and we use them up much faster than they are produced.
