- Q:My 2001 Chevy Impala windshield wipers park in the upright position. The wipers function normally, but when they normally go from the Intermittent low position to the park position they hesitate, and then they go up to the and stop in the upright position.I tried taking the fuse out, forcing them down (even when they are off they automatically reset back up to straight up and down, versus lying flat.I see plenty of Chevy/GM vehicles with this issue, is it just a crappy motor/linkage/tranny?This all happened when the wipers failed to go down into the normal lower lying flate park position when they were blocked by a little bit of snow. It‘s as if they don‘t remember where to park, because they go right to the up and down position to parkAnyone have a quick fix, or is this really just another crappy part made by General Motors?thanks in advance for your help!
- Yeapper you will desire to eliminate the motor and realign the gears. with a bit of luck that's not stripped and that's merely an alignment. that's like a series of tooth on 2 wheels and that i think with the load of the snow one wheel grew to become and the different did not
- Q:My daughter is 21 mos. old and closes her eyes tightly and cries whenever the wipers go on. Has anyone had a similar experience? She seems like she is in pain and I don‘t know what to do??
- lol, I'm so sorry but that sounds so cute and funny.Kids become afraid of the darnedest things sometimes. Personally, i think it is a combination of the rainthen this sudden noise from nowhere!.bam! then these weird looking things are moving on the window.eeeeeek! Get me outta here, this place is crazy! at least that may be whats going on in her mind. you can try warning herlike use the same phrase each time b4 you turn them on.Such asits raining, i have to turn the wipers on.Kids like to be warned about certain things. And she will still be afraid but at least she was warned. you can also let her use the button a few times to show her.She will most likely jump out of her seat when she hits that button then those wipers come on.but she may relax after a few once she sees that she can control it. You can also try getting her a toy car with noticeable wipers on itshe may associate the 2 and calm down after a while. Either way, i think this will pass and she will get used to them.Just try using them a little more often when she is in the car.
- Q:I have a ‘97 Pontiac Sunfire that otherwise works fine, but the windshield wipers are acting up. When they are on they work just fine, but when I go to turn them off, they park in the middle of the windshield instead of stowing at the bottom. Any ideas?I already tried taking them off and resetting them when the wipers were off, but that just made them stay at the bottom even when i turned them on.
- Your car is over 10 years old now. I agree with cat lady. Replace the linkage. it's probably worn out. GM has had a lot of models with this problem. look at all the cars and vans with the wipers stuck in the up position. most are GM models or Ford taurus.
- Q:Im trying to piece back together my 66 caddy hearseI need some advice how to remove the wiper assembly from the posts-any advice would be appreciated!
- Lift the wiper arm and look at the base of the stem and wiper. There will be a little square tam hooked over the stem. Pry this with a screw driver and lift up on the arm. There is a special tool for this as the spring tension is hard to over compensate to pull off the arm. But if you wiggle the arm while pulling up on the other side of the base of the arm, it will eventually come off.
- Q:Its funny what liberals call entertainment
- obama and the windshield wipers both go back and forth so often that it is hard to keep up with their current position. A more interesting comparison would be a movie about the guy who invented windshield wipers vs a movie about the guy who invented obama.
- Q:I currently have a 2004 Pontiac Vibe, and they are using the Stock Windshield Wiper Blades.I want to know, what are the best Blades that I could purchase for my car, that don‘t leave streaks when it rains? The ones I have now are alright, but they don‘t have even pressure. What would be the best Blades, I could use that keep even pressure, and do not leave streaks during rain storms? How much would they cost? How much would the be, Installed? And where could I purchase them? Thanks in advanced!
- The Rain X wiper blades are over priced and not the best. About 3 months ago I bought the Bosch Icon wiper blades and I've been very satisfied with them. However, make sure that you don't buy the Bosch Marathon blades, which aren't as good, and if you get any streaking, clean your blades with a small amount of rubbing alcohol. My icons were streaking about a month ago, but cleaning them with rubbing alcohol and paper towels got rid of the streaking.
- Q:yesterday was driving home in pouring rain and my wipers wouldnt come on i tried every configuration, delay, fast, windshield wash,, but nothing seems to me they always go out when i need em most, any ideas on what the problem is?
- Check the fuses. But if the fuse is blown, then what took out the fuse? Could be the wiper motor or a short in the wiring to it. The wiper switch could also go bad. I had a car which a plastic bushing in the wiper control arm went bad and allowed the wiper arm to come off the motor Tips; Never use wipers to clear ice off the windshield this makes the motor and arms work harder and it just chews up your wiper blades, use the defrost to melt the ice then the wipers to clear the water. Carry a spare set of wiper blades in your trunk, they'll only blow off when you need them the most!
- Q:Problem with my 1997 Toyota corolla ce windshield wipers not working.?
- may still be a fuse that looks good, but is not, or even the switch in the stalk that controls the wiper
- Q:My windshield wipers stopped working.a while ago maybe 5 months or so, but I have always made due, never had problems with weather, but now winter is approaching and I NEED them fixed. The motor sounds like it is working, but the arms will not move.My guess is they will have to maybe just replace them and go with all new everything - - - im no machanic so i really have no idea. What does something like this cost? I know the couple places I called have $45-$75 per hour for labor :(
- I have no idea what kind of car you have so I am gonna have to guess at what the problem is and what the cost is. Usually if the wiper motor itself is running but the wiper arms are not moving on the windshield, then I would say the the linkage has come loose from the motor. This model of vehicle may have what is called a wiper transmission on it and it may be damaged also As to price somewhere between 100 and 400 bucks. sorry hard to give a great answer without knowing what kind of car it is.
