I like Bill's answer. I was military. I would honorably follow orders, knowing what following those orders meant and knowing what I was getting into by taking that position. Personally, though, I would never get myself in that position. Such a position was once offered to me. I guess you're asking why this is so. Or are you asking is this so? If you are looking for answers you really ought to start by asking unambiguous questions. I'll answer both possibilities. It is so. Big bangs can come from ignited grain dust in silos. Grew up in farm country with lots of soya bean and corn silos around. Occasionally one would go boom and ruin the farmer's day. As to why the dust will go boom, but the grain lying in a pile will not; it's because the dust is surrounded by air with oxygen in it, while the grain is exposed only on the top of the pile. In fact the surface area of dust relative to the volume (mass) of the dust is rho = A/V = 4 pi r^2/4/3 pi r^3 = 3/r This means that as the bit to burn gets smaller and smaller when r gets smaller and smaller, there is relatively more surface area exposed to the air and the oxygen it contains. And the more surface area there is relative to the mass (volume) of the bit, the more rapid it will burn. The very rapid burns are called explosions. So if grain were to ignite, it would burn more slowly than the dust with its higher A/V ratio. We used to have those, too; slow burns in the silos.

Q:Why are grain silos round and tall?
Curved un-stiffened structures can take higher pressure than ones made out of flat plates, hence the needed thickness of plating would be thinner. Thus silos are made round. Grains have very high angle of repose which means that the inverted cone at the bottom of the silo should be steep in order that the grain would drain properly. A wide silo would therefore require a deeper cone and thicker materials to make it. So instead of building silos wider and bigger in diameter they are just built taller and more slender to reduce the construction cost. Also taller silos would occupy less ground area than fatter and shorter ones of the same volume.

No, yet confident. you won't have the capacity to import 3-D fashions so no you won't have the capacity to...yet with cut back mapping, textures would be performed in Photoshop then exported to 3DS, Maya cinema 4D etc etc...you could export in PSD, JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF, and a ton of alternative formats!

Q:Finding the radius of a silo?
Well, I can point you in the right direction. Treat this problem as 2 parts...the volume of the cylinder and the volume of the hemisphere (1/2 x the volume of a full sphere). Then just plug in R for the radius (variable since it's unknown right now), 25 for the height and 935 for V, and solve for R like: Volume_Cylinder(R) + Volume_Hemisphere(R) = 935.
