Q:I realize that it depends on the welder, type of metal and type of car/truck but in the big scheme of things how hard is it to weld and exhaust?
If you are referring to welding on a used system yes it is way more difficult. The pipes have been hot cold many times, the dirt, mud and road grime is baked onto the surface, If you know basic welding you can do it with a little practice. If the pipes are old enough to be almost rotted out then time to replace.
Q:I have a 2007 v6 mustang and I recently got a Pypes true dual exhaust kit making it, dual exhaust from the stock single exhaust and giving it a much better sound.i can see the mpg I get on the dash and I was used to seeing 16-19 but when I looked it said 13.8. I have had the exhaust for less them a week and sure, I‘m being a little harder on the gas to hear the noise but a loss in mpg is a lot to lose just to be a little harder on the pedal.my hypothesis is that I am losing back pressure/force because the air is coming out two pipes instead of one, but I am no car expert at all.why is this happening? and how can I fix it?
If you have been heavy on the throttle, that is all it takes. I owned a SHO that could average 27 mpg, but if I got on it the MPG's would drop to half of that. As for back pressure, not. A change in resonance, yes. This affects savaging of the cylinders, the better this is done the more fresh air mixture is used to fill the cylinder on the intake cycle.
Q:could someone explain the basic meaning of all these terms?High Flow CatsCat-Back Exhaust SystemTrue Dual Exhaust SystemY-PipesX-PipeTest PipesDownpipesResonatorsMid PipeIf you can tell me any of them or point me in the direction of a site that gives similar information other than pedia i‘d appreciate it
Sounds Exhausting to me! High flow cat converter? Higher than stock converter exhaust flow. Cat back system Is a complete exhaust system behind the stock cat (legal) that will either be true dual two pipes front to back or single pipe. Y pipe is for single to dual or dual to single tube. X pipe smooths out the exhaust pulses by blending pulses from both sides. Test pipes are cat converter eliminators (Illegal) but some time necessary in order to make the 5 gas testing equipment work at the Dynometer shop to adjust the fuel and timing tables. Down Pipe generally is from the manifold to first connection or turbo outlet. Resonators is a tube/muffler to silence some undesirable noise. Mid pipe is in the middle? There are many manufactures of exhaust equiptment if I knew what the make and model engine size car your working on? Good Luck
Q:I have a hole in the top of my muffler and a hole in my resonator as well (rusted out). I can‘t find a cat-back system, so I‘m forced to buy everything a la carte. I have worked on my car a lot under the hood but have never worked on the exhaust system. My question is what the difference between a flange and a clamp is? Don‘t they serve the same purpose?
Flange is where they meet up, one male side, and one receiving female side. They clamp together to seal it off, exactly like the flange on the exhaust manifolds where they meet the pipe. The clamp style slides together and you use a cheap u bolt style clamp that holds it all together. Either will work but i would guess that pieces of pipe with ubolt exhaust clamps will be cheaper. Dont be afraid of working on exhaust, it is easy and very hard to mess up. You will know if you dont get a good seal. If it is small there are puttys that can seal it as well or tapes but our idea is solid, just go the more inexpensive route or the one that fits your needs.
Q:Is it headers to mid pipe to catback with the exhaust tips coming out from the rear Or is it mid pipe to headers to catback
Mid means middle so it's not at either end. Not all cars have headers. Google exhaust system diagram This is one that uses the word catback (which is new to me)
Q:I want to get an Skunk2 Mega Power Exhaust System for my Acura 03 RSX (Base Model) part no. 413-05-1563. Does it come with Hi-flow cat? And also do you need headers and CAI before putting it on, because I already have AEM V2 installed. So does it matter if I buy the exhaust system and then later buy the headers for it?
Sounds to me like you have a perfectly running HD.
Q:I own a 2008 Nissan Sentra S, its 6 speed, stock, I want to make my sentra a little louder , is it possible to install the cat-back on a 2008 nissan sentra S. I know its possible to install on a SE-R or Spec V but will there be problems installing it on S model. Or what are some other exhaust systems that are good.
get a custom magnaflow exhaust system or flowmaster, if you look at their site you can make a custom one, but Im not sure if they make a custom B-pipe for you're car. Hope this helped and Good Luck
Q:I have a 2000 Ford Focus SE that needs a complete exhaust system. Anyone with any insight into a cost?
can you get parts still ,is it an off brand,is it clean and starts fine is the clutch good, tires,
Q:what is a catback exhaust system?
when the two tail pipes cross to make an x shape and then they exit the rear of the car. You cant have a catback exhaust if you don't have dual exhaust
Q:how many Db is a stock exhaust system on a honda crf250?
I found the following website that has what I think is the information you are looking for. I hope this helps. * db level: DRD 99.2db, Quite Core insert 96db (Quiet Core sold separately) (Dirt Bike quoted the db level to be 92.18 with insert installed) Stock 96db I'm not sure if this document will help you any or not. It has a chart that shows a chart listing 'Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust System' and it has the dB/rpm as 98/5500 and I listed that site 2nd below. I hope this has been at least a little help.
