Q:I have a 2010 Lancer gts and I‘m goin to be buying a greddy catback exhaust system for it alone with a test pipe to replace the cat and also headers. Has anyone ever used greddy and can you tell me what you think? I‘m lookin to get some power increase and a lower grumble sound not a ricy sound.
a test pipe actually hurts the power it dosent increase it and by putting an exhaust in it youll probably gain 3 to 4 horse power
Q:Difference from a muffler and exhaust system? Do they both make noise? Is it possible to have both a muffler and exhaust. I want a loud car?
The exhaust system connects to the engine and goes under the car and out the back. Exhaust manifold(s), catalytic converter, muffler, pipes.
Q:I have a 2005 mazda 3 S. I was gonna put a glasspack on but I‘m being told it‘s rediculously loud. My friend has a whole exhaust system and I think it sounds cool, but I don‘t have a ton of money to blow. I‘m thinking maybe under 300? Recommendations?
To get a deep agressive tone is not easy, particularly from a low cc 4 cylinder car. I got a cat-back exhaust system pretty cheap (440 AUD) fully fitted for my mitsubshi 6 cyclinder (which contains 2 1/4 piping plus a sports muffler). Sounds great. A little bit of research will tell you whether the 3 has 1 or 2 cat's. I would think it only has 1, but Im not sure. Even then, I dont see how it will make much of a difference if the cats are linked in a serial fashion (as in the gas goes into Cat 1, then Cat 2, then the muffler then out). Go Ebay only if its a trusted source and you can fit the thing yourself (you'll need welding equipment and good knowledge of how to do it). I would ring up a few places and ask them if they have put a cat-back system on a 3 before. Only if they have will they be able to tell you the ins and outs of doing it.
Q:i know its only a 1.4 im not expecting much but the insurance will cost ?2500 so what exhaust system should i get i was thinking a vr6 exhaust system but im not sure if it would fit right so any ideas would be great
If you want curls very badly, then get a perm.
Q:If so which one would you reccomendI drive 44 miles a day on the thruway from to school and back
It might help a little, but it would need to be a full cat-back system, which for your car could get expensive. Generally a good intake filter like a KN is the best bang-for-your-buck. After that would be a cold air intake, as they help efficientcy a little more. Then, after either of those, if you still wanted to see more improvement I'd look into exhausts. I have a cold air, iridium spark plugs, and a cat-back exhuast on my Tuscani GTV6 wich is rated at 18-21mpg. I now get about 25mpg If I drive conservatively. *** PS you car has nothing to do with dual exhaust as it is either a inline 4 or VR6 motor. dual exhaust or true duals is a term used to describe two seperate exhaust paths coming from two seperate exhaust manifolds and is mainly just for bragging rights, as the performance increase over a standard system is little to nil. Every motor VW has ever put in any Jetta has only had one exhaust manifold so the concept doens't apply to your car anyway. Just thought I'd clear that up. PSS Snaglefritz answer below me is entirely accurate for his application, but there is a couple things that may be missleading. Primarily it is correct to say that a performance exhaust system will indeed allow you to burn more fuel, increaseing power and decreaseing economy. The difference is that it is a dirt bike, and is ridden at wide-open-throttle (racing) just about all the time. Secondly, it doesn't have an ECM to control fuel delivery. As he stated it uses a carb, which is a mechanical device that uses jets to determine fuel flow. In your Jetta however, the ECM computer can calculate that, thanks to your free flowing intake and exhaust, it can provide the same cruising speed (like your commute to school) while doing less work (delivering less fuel) as it has to work less to suck the air in and to expell it out. ) But yes, if you floor it you will go faster and use more fuel )
Q:i have a 2005 scion tc and i wanna make it sound mean. should i‘ve looked at cold air intakes but should i get that or an exhaust system or a muffler? i also want to make it fell like it has more power. would the cold air intake do that?
muffler will make it sound louder and help exhaust flow a little--cold air intake will help for about 3% increase in power--if you really want to wake it up find a turbo set up and install--turbo is about the cheapest thing to install for increased power-they came from the factory on some TC's--as you know the little engine doesn't have a lot of horsepower so the turbo is your best bet--I have 2 XB's- so while I am not a speed merchant I do know a little about them--good little cars
Q:Can i use a merged exhaust system without a cat or muffler, on my 1600cc vw aircooled and be street legal?
No the merged system simply collects all the exhaust gasses and ports them out in a single location. You need to attach a muffler to that (not a cat. converter since the old VW's predate that requirement). Without the muffler, the bug is REALLY loud (which will get you the wrong type of attention) and there may not be sufficient back pressure on the valves. .
Q:I own a 05 Acura RSX type S with a race header already installed. I plan on installing a supercharger kit that will produce over 310whp. I just need a list of parts for an exhaust system and size. I don‘t want it to be too Loud. Thanks.
Search in your local area for the specialist exhaust fabricators, and also consult the owners' club members in your area, to find what they have found to work. Consider also, that you can't have it all - you either have a silent exhaust, and lose a lot of power, or a free-flowing exhaust, with a glorious, bellowing animal tone. An over-silenced, small-tube system WILL cost you power, so decide what is more important to you.
Q:Hi,I have heard about a type of exhaust system you can install on your car where when you press a button or flip a switch, the headers or some part of the exhaust opens up basically making the car temporarily have open headers. im not sure what type of exhaust this is/what it is called. if anyone knows that would be greatly appreciated. thanks
Hello If you are going to replace the Master Cylinder you might as well drain all the brake fluid and refill with new anyway. As it would need bleeding anyway Andy C
Q:I have a 05.5 VW jetta 2.5L and i want to put a magna flow exhaust system on it. How hard is it to do this myself? And any idea how long it will take? I dont know all that much about cars but im thinking i can figure it out.
If you don't get the direct bolt on kit, it may still be simple. Just take acurate measurements for purchasing exhaust couplers and clamps if needed. You may have to do some cutting with a hack saw or just use a grinding wheel to cut out the old parts. If you were to have everything on hand and no or minimal trips to the auto parts store, you may do it from anywhere from 1-3 hours. This also depends on your know how and creativeness. Hope this helps and good luck.
