Q:How to deal with the chewing gum on the hotel guest room carpet
stir up the carpet, apply edible oil in the back of the place with gum coated , after a few minutes the chewing gum can be taken down, and then thoroughly clean grease on the carpet.
Q:How should I place a rectangular rug under a horseshoe sectional?
I like to see area rugs placed at an angle under horseshoe configured sectionals. You can put it just under the front so that there isn't a gap that will get dirty right in front of the curved portion of the couch. You are placing the rug to anchor the couch to the room and protect the flooring underneath, having it under the couch doesn't serve either purpose. This saves you a little money as well in that you don't have to purchase such a large area rug...
Q:Residential And Commercial Carpets Difference?
As well as being made of a lesser fiber blend the carpet is often treated with fire retardant and pesticides before installation, dyes are also different, matching a commercial carpet color to a residential retailer will mean a compromise.
Q:how do i unbend a rug and keep it from wrinkling?
Hi, ... Hope this helps.
Q:carpet stain, help walked in automotive grease?
first off, i gotta say this: you are a brave woman having beige carpets and a mechanic in the same house! i avoid buying anything light colored for that very reason. to remove the grease though: Dawn dish soap. it is great stuff! just take the Dawn, mix a tablespoon or so in you sink and add like 1/2 an inch of water. swish it around with your hand to get it super bubbly. take a damp sponge and scoop it through the bubbles. rub the bubbles into the stain really good getting more bubbles periodically. let them sit for about 20 minutes, get your carpet shampooer out if you have one, and use that to rinse the spot. if not, use a rag and warm water. you might have to do it a few times, but that has gotten grease out of my carpets on more than one occasion. Gojo works pretty good too, or fast orange, or whatever he scrubs up with at work, but the pumice is hard to get out of the carpet, so look for one with no grit. the Gojo works great on greasy work clothes though, with or without the grit. (with grit works great on denim.)
Q:Is it possible to convert a pre-installed home carpet to an area rug?
Yes you can have it bound at the edges to make an area rug. Call around to carpet showrooms and sometimes even companies that specialize in cleaning area rugs have sources for this project. A warning though. Do not place the bound carpet transformed into an area rug directly on your new hardwood flooring. The backing on carpet will act like sandpaper against the flooring and will scratch it horribly with foot traffic. Use a carpet pad or protector between the new carpet area rug and the hardwood flooring to provide a buffer. You can purchase carpet pad protectors by the size of normal area rugs, 5 x 8 for example.
Q:carpet cleaners?
rent one of those machine things
Q:Rug Burns vs Tatami Burns?
rug burns are worse! although tatami mats to leave attractive imprints on your body after prolonged contact
Q:is steam cleaning better than dry cleaning carpets ?
Defiantly steam clean them. If you are talking about the spray foam like you can get in a can and do it your self. You will accomplish cleaning them some. But what you actually end up doing is to make the carpet look better, but the foam is pressed into your carpet and left to dry (embedded) in your carpet. Not only does it leave residue in the carpet, it also caused dirt ,spills. etc to build up on your carpet quicker than it did before.
Q:Grease stain on woven rug (due to Bissell fiber cleansing cleaner). Any suggestions?
woven rug Is this a hand made rug? If so the colors may have run. As for Bissell, I have used their products for years and never had a problem. Of course, i read the warnings and disclaimers like test on a small area first. These machines were designed for standard carpeting. I know you don't want to hear this, but if this is a hand made rug, the fault is yours.
