Q:in the short story open boat by stephen crane how does he define Fate?
Without doing your work for you, Crane is a naturalist. They believe nature works at random, and is completely unsympathetic to man's plight in the process. Hence, the oiler dies. He was probably the strongest one in the boat. So, how does that translate into the concept of fate?
Q:What kind of force acting in the brake system which encounter the lifting material force and to maintain its level.
Cranes work using hydraulics and cables. The cables are wrapped around pulleys and the pulley is turned using hydraulic power. The brake system is simply stopping the pulley from turning by reducing power. The hydraulic system typically will turn a series of gears which in turn spins the pulley that the cable is wrapped around. It's different than a brake system say on a car where when you hit the brakes, pads squeeze on the interior of the wheel rim slowing it down. Cranes you just reduce power and stop the pulley from turning. They also have emergency stops. Older cranes have wedges that would be released onto the cable and then the wedges would grab the cable and slip into a ring. The narrow end of the wedges would slip into the ring first and then as the wedges increased in diameter the grip on the cable would get tighter and then stop the cable from moving. They also have systems on the pulleys to stop the pulley from spinning. They essentially work the same way as a car break. When the emergency brake is triggered, pads will squeeze on the rim of the pulley to stop it. These mechanisms work by friction. They could also have holes around the pulley and a steel pin would be pushed into one of the holes to stop it from spinning. Of course if the force of the weight exceeded the strength of the pin, it would shear.
Q:i have to make a children's story about how the whooping crane became endangered; (based on real facts) ideas?
You could write a story about an old Whooping Crane with lots of children that goes on migration only to come back and find her home has been destroyed. So she goes and starts trying to raise awareness about it, and eventually finds a new home due to her efforts. This would need much more tweaking and changing of course.
Q:I need it for my English class, not to cheat, but because my literature book only has an excerpt, in which I didn't even know Yukiko's name. And my teacher insists on finding it out for ourselves and I just want to know what the story is about and what the scandal repeatedly implied in the excerpt is.
It's been a while, but I believe the story is about a young girl who gets cancer, and sets about making 1,000 paper cranes for good luck, but she never made to completion. Just google to find info, or see if you can download the book.
Q:I don't understand why or how they still exist. I know I'll get some answers saying they're part of the food chain but what animal on earth would get a sufficient meal from one of these?
crane flies are very large. They might also play a part in pollination I'm not sure. I've never looked at the gawky insects before edit larave are decomposers in soil adults don't feed. So then the maggots are for the recycling of decayed matter. Thats their point. my info came from my field guide that is next to my bed at all times
Q:i need to write a 2 pg paper on this, and i cant even begin
Stpehen Crane used interesting literary techniques such as colorful metaphors which can easily be identified in eg like knowing eyes which represent the people of Dunnet (ammons, 84). Another literary technique he uses often is irony which is seen in chapter with Mrs. Todds variety of personality which shows how Mrs. Todd has this varied personality(eden, 141). Other literary techniques shown are comparisons and contradictions, dramatic personification and powerful paradox.
Q:He has to be in his 30's to 40's but I can't find anything that gives me a definite age.
Okay Well, You havent specified in what, but presuming you mean in the comics, and baring in mind he was the psychologist when Thomas Elliot and Bruce were only 7-8, then the bare minimum he could have been then was 21, though he was likely older. THEN presuming Bruce is around 35, though he also is probably older, then the bare minimum Crane could be is 48. that being said, he is likely between 48-60. He just looks good for his age ;). this of course is in the comics, however. The movie is different.
Q:Is there a crane lifting chart where I can enter info. to determine what size crane I need, if so where?
the 1st answerer, Irv S, is right. You need to call a craning service. They should be able to give an estimate for crane size based on what you tell them. You will need to know what your Load weighs. How high in the air the crane will have to lift it. ....Putting a swimming pool in the back yard is completely different ....than putting that same swimming pool up on top of a 15 story ....building. How close to the Load can the crane park? Or how far you need the LOAD moved. What a crane can lift, even if it a 100 ton crane is based on how far the crane has to reach to pick up the load and how much the crane has to rotate to place the load. The angle the crane boom goes to, etc. Our 15 ton PH crane can lift 30 thousand pounds at 10 feet from the Turning center. And only a 1,000 pounds or less if the boom is fully extended with the Jib on, that is 125 feet away from the turning center of the crane. Distance is critical! They will probably need to see the work site to give a really accurate answer. Wingman
Q:because i have this huge sofa i need to get to 2nd floor but i cant coz the staircase is too small
Talk to a lumber yard that has a boom truck. Ask them how much to do it. A boom truck will cost much less than a crane. A boom truck can reach 45 to 50 feet. In this economy they are looking for anything they can get. They will most likely do it. But when really busy they wont. But things are slow. Builder 30 years. A crane will cost about 250.00 of the first hour. with a one hour min.
Q:In Scottsdale AZ I have never noticed them before this year. They are on the walls all around our doors.
Crane FLIES not cranes. The winter crane fly has an abundant hatch--well, during early spring or late winter. In this they are just everywhere--this species just does this sort of thing. Typically crane flies are a rather rare sight, such as during the summer months, usually of an entirely different species. There's really not much to explain their abundance.
