A: Sure. All of these could be provided with extra cost upon the clients' requirements. But according to general practice, remote control is not suggested because most of the operator feedback operation in the cabin will provide a wide working view.

Boot camp and schools do count as mobilization, though. As a crane operator, I assume he's is going into the SeaBees. Those guys are being deployed with great regularity to the sandbox for terms of 6-18 months at a time. different rules apply for deployments, including you being eligible for Medical and dental benefits while he's deployed. You and he both need to sit down and have a good long conversation with his recruiter to find out EXACTLY what will happen as far as his tarining goes and where he will be sent for his duty station.

- Yes- it almost certainly will be covered. Most (if not all) homeowners policies provide coverage for driveways, walkways, etc. See your policy for specific language. I was an adjuster for 15 years, and I handled this sort of claim on a regular basis. It is very common for large vehicles to damage driveways, especially dump trucks. As long as there is sufficient evidence that the crane caused the damage (rather than normal wear and tear) it will almost certainly be covered. Your homeowners insurance will then subrogate against the tree removal company.

- Usually the counterweights can move back and forth on an arm. They are moved toward the crane when there is no load and away from the crane when there is a load. If the counterweights can't move, then the crane must be designed to hold (at least) the minimum counterweights in their fixed location. As the crane gets loaded, the net moment decreases, and then increases in the other direction as more and more load gets added. It is still likely that the maximum design moment when loaded far exceeds the moment due to the counterweights on an unloaded crane.

- Talk to a lumber yard that has a boom truck. Ask them how much to do it. A boom truck will cost much less than a crane. A boom truck can reach 45 to 50 feet. In this economy they are looking for anything they can get. They will most likely do it. But when really busy they wont. But things are slow. Builder 30 years. A crane will cost about 250.00 of the first hour. with a one hour min.
