Q:I have broken tiles that i desperately need to fix ,but i cant seem to find a match for the existing tile , is there any place that make the tile for me?: Maybe a pottery shop could possible make a close looking tile but it would still stick out like a sore thumb. Then you ll have to give them a sample pc of the tile to try and get color , texture and glazing close as possible.. This may not even be feasible for them to do. I would continue to search. Q:The hammer took a chip out of one tile, the chip is about the size of a pencil eraser. I‘m just heartbroken as we just had this tile installed 12 days ago! Is there any way to fix this- short of replacing the tile? I‘ve already bought a rug that will cover the hole but I‘d still like to fix it if I can. There will be to much deflection in the floor , the bond will break between the thin set and the sub floor. There is a thinner system you can use called Ditra. Thin mat that is applied to the sub floor and then tiled over. If your dishwashers adjustable legs can be adjusted more or if they re all the way adjusted to max you can tile up to them. You ll still be able to get the washer out. I have seen one yet that can t be taken out,its a struggle but it can be done. I suggest the 1/2 cement board,properly installed, since this meets all tile codes,(both ATC and TCA) to properly support tile. Only serious replies please.Thanks: I ve worked with tiles for over 20 years and I find no difference in tiles from different areas such a Italian , Indian .USA, Brazil, China etc. They all have excellent and garbage tiles. The vitrified tiles is a type of tile as is ceramic and porcelains. Usually a bit harder bodied and the the sizing is better on vitrified tiles. Get what coloring and style fits your needs.
