Q:How can I get dried nail polish out of my carpet?
1/2 bleach 1/2 water and some sop it will do the cleaning
Q:I've moved into a new apartment and have discovered that the carpet REEKS of cat urine! I've tried odour neutralizers in the carpet, as well as powders and baking soda...nothing is working!! What do I do?!
Nature's Miracle, found at pet stores................but, if it's really deep down in the padding, you may be S.O.L no matter what you try. If it's really bad, tell your landlord he has to replace the carpeting because it's making you sick from the smell. And that's what burns me up about some stupid cat owners. They're the ones that give CATS a bad name. There are no smelly, dirty cats. There's only bad cat OWNERS. And the reason alot of landlords won't even allow pets in the first place. But, yea, I'd be talking to that landlord if it's getting to you. You're not paying rent to be made sick.
Q:Hi. We're currently redoing our spare bedroom complete with new carpet, new paint, and new molding. We've ripped up the old carpet and removed the old molding from the walls. We plan to paint next weekend. My question is, do we install the new molding before or after the new carpet is installed (in about two weeks after painting is done)? Which is the best way to go?
Oxyclean. If it's the powder then wet the spot and saturate the area with the powder. Let it sit for a while. Maybe even overnight. You will have to have a carpet cleaner or shop vac to suck up the old oxyclean. Then you will probably have to reapply several times. I do this with my laundry that gets mildew and mold on it and it works like a charm. If you use the liquid oxyclean that comes in the spray bottle then just spray it on and suck it up with the carpet cleaner or shop vac. This is the method I use on my carpet with pet stains and I love it. hint: liquid tide in the carpet cleaner works wonders too.
Q:The tar has been on the carpet for four months
try dawn dish soap.
Q:i have just rented a house and started to clean the rugs now smell a strong urine oder, can anyone tell me how to get rid of this fast.i tried boarax, backingsoda, vinager , peroxide, and nothing seems to help. i will give 30 points to someone if they help me remove this smell.
You might consider calling your landlord and complaining see if they can send a pro out. Its not your mess and its not something you should have to deal with. If that is not an option I would rent a steam cleaner, just scrubbing will make it soak into the pad and spread but a steam cleaner will suck it out. I think it was bissell (bought mine at target) makes a pet odor remover rug cleaner for steam cleaners, it does help a lot. Before steam cleaning you can pour some pet enzyme cleaner on the area, one I used was called Petzyme and can be found at pet stores. If its really bad though, not a small area but a large area that appears to have been urinated on multiple times its most likely going to need to get replaced. That again wwould be your landlords responsibility, they should not rent out a house with unsanitary conditions.
Q:I was hoovering today and I took a closer look at the carpet when I realised my carpet is full of little white cm long bugs. I searched on google and they are saying it is carpet bettle larve. But looki g at the pictures of these beetle larve they look nothing like them. To give you a picture they are pure white cilinder shapes that have a sort of tuft on each end. They are a cm long and I'd expect a mm in diameter. Please help
Carpet beetles and clothes moths attack fibre of animal origin, avoiding the synthetic fabrics. Even synthetics may be attacked if they are soiled by food or animal excrement. The blending of animal fibres and synthetic fibres is now commonplace and make such textiles susceptible to carpet beetle and moth damage. Both carpet beetles and moths prefer secluded areas such as behind curtains and furniture where they are seldom disturbed. In each instance, it is the larva that will cause damage to carpet and other fabrics. Prevention Some carpets are treated during manufacture and should give protection against infestation until the chemicals are removed, either by cleaning or have lost their effect due to normal chemical breakdown. Prevention and correction of carpet pest infestations require special skills and extensive knowledge of the problem and careful workmanship. Protection of carpets and fabrics with high animal fibre content is an ongoing challenge which is now not always possible with the range of safer, less persistent formulations in use in the marketplace today.
Q:Our family just moved into an apartment with 4 year old carpet (the manager verified the installation date). We plan on moving in 4 years when my husband is done with medical school. Therefore, the carpet would be 8 years old. We would like to pay to replace the carpeting, but the manager is claiming that the carpeting we are looking at isn't quot;commercial gradequot; and that it won't last after we move. The manager also claims that the carpeting that is currently installed could potentially last another 4-8 years. The current rule here is that if you damage the carpet and it must be replaced within the first 7 years, you must pay x/7 of the value. My question is: If we trash our carpet and move out in 4 years, they won't be able to charge us. Why can't I just replace it now with carpeting that I like? Does this sound right? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
One reason you can't replace is because it isn't yours..you are only renters and until you get permission there really isn't much you can do If the carpet is bad, I would take pictures with or video with the date on them on hold on to that until you move out and get your deposit. He can't make you pay for normal wear and tear on carpet.
Q:I have wall to wall carpets in my apartment. I have placed large rugs on top of the carpet. Without damaging the carpet or the rug, how can I stop them from .wrinkling and moving? Is it caused by static electricity?
A grand piano would keep the rug in place. Short of that i'd go with a felt pad or something similar. Remember, as you walk your feet are pushing the rug in the opposite direction that you are trying to go, that is why they are wrinkling up over time. So you can either pin them down under something (piano), put some friction between the rug and carpet (felt pad) or stop walking on them.
Q:What good is a carpet?
Carpet insulation effect is good, in winter, warm effect is reflected, the first visual warmth, and then the texture.
Q:cats knocked oil lamp on carpet, contents spilled
place paper towels over the effected areas to soak up as much as you can, replacing the towels as needed, then, if you have one, take a wet/dry vacuum and a spray bottle with warm water and spray the area then vac it up repeat this process until they oil is up. this also works well on other spots, just use clear water, no soap or spot removers.
