Q:Ok, simple question, on a 1992 Jeep Cherokee 4.0. The water pump sucks water (not push) through the heater core correct? So the flow of water goes from the block, through the heater core, into the water pump, right?
The heater middle is placed on the passenger edge on the firewall. From the water pump there'll be 2 small strains going into the black container on the firewall. The heater middle is interior the container. you have gotten a undesirable radiator hose. this is the extra value-effective restoration. If it replaced into the water pump, your automobile could over warmth in minutes. the warmth interior the automobile would desire to be from a vent door caught open interior the heater container.
Q:i have a 97 mercury mountaineer and i recently got the thermostat changed in it. after doing so we noticed that the car was leaking antifreeze. we checked to make sure everything was tight and there was no cracks and my uncle said he thinks its the water pump how can i tell
since the leak only occurred after thermostat change ? it is reasonable to assume it is leaking around the thermostat housing. check this area first . ( did we fit a new gasket ? etc) water pumps have a small hole on underside that will weep ( leak) when seals are worn and pump needs changing. we can check pump is working by observing coolant flow. with a cold engine remove coolant filler cap.start engine and rev a few times to around 3000-35000 rpm observing ( may need an assistant) coolant flow into expansion chamber ( where you removed filler cap from) you should note coolant flowing across or into the expansion tank. if our pump has failed we would over heat !! check engine cooling when driving.
Q:Hello, i have a 1987 volkswagen cabriolet that i purchased earlier this year. So far its been a pain in the butt. Recently i noticed it overheats real quick, but it didnt use to. then i noticed the coolant/antifreeze was being used up like no other! I discovered, after being parked at work, that it was leaking. it leaks basically anything i put in there now!! it leaks from the water pump housing,.,.... at least thats what the internet said it was.. its leaking from the end of the hose that connects to the engine... (the hose that comes from the coolant reservoir.) What do i do? I dont feel any cracks? does this part crack? is it an o-ring or somehting? how can i fix it? what happens if i dont? I am really absolutely NOTHING ABOUT CARS. Please help!!
The water pump a vent designed in the housing that will drip coolant when the water pump seal is blown. Replace the water pump.
Q:I have some black RTV silicone that I got with a gasket for my oil pan. Can I use some on a gasket for a water pump instead of regular sealant or is there a particular type I need? If there is a certain or preferred type please give me a link to it at like autozone or something, thanks!

Q:My water pump keeps getting quite hot after each use. Everything seems to be working properly, except I think that the heat may cause it to burn out and that would cause a huge problem. My pump pulls water from a ground level water tank and pushes water up three flats to the part of my house used for living quarters. The pressure setting is set to cut out at 40psi and cut in at 25psi. What can I do myself before calling in expensive experts?
You need to be more clear.. is it the pump thats getting hot or is the motor that drives the pump. If its the motor, well that may be normal cause motors are made to work. depending on how old the motor is the windings in it may be losing their insulation. the more insulation is lost the hotter it will get and eventually come to the end of its life. If its the pump only getting hot then it could be that something got inside it and is causing it to run hot. Usually its some debris that got inside of it. If you can, open it up and inspect it. There are many types of pumps so which one you have i can not say but this should lead you to the source of the problem. Was there ever a time when the pump ran cooler or is this something you just discovered? It may be normal for it to run hot. Motors are workhorses and they just work.
Q:I just replaced my starter on my mustang and i when i took it out for a test drive i noticed the engine temperature rising. i drove for maybe 2 minutes max and when i parked the car it had a small amount of white smoke coming out of the engine so i let it cool down, and when it cooled down i checked the radiator, it had absolutely no anti-freeze, which is weird because i had just put a gallon of 50-50 anti-freeze maybe a week ago. So to test it i put 3 cups of water in the radiator turned her on and water was spilling from the water pump. So me and my dad have concluded we have to replace the water pump. I called up Autozone and they have a water pump replacement kit for $70. We don't have money too pay for the labor so can some1 please give me a step by step guide to replacing the water pump.
So did you get it changed? mine just broke. do you got any pointers?
Q:We have a 3-story (including ground floor) house. We have 2 bathrooms. We need to invest in a water pump to deliver water from ground floor to all floors + 2 reservoir tanks (one located on first floor, and the second tank located on the second floor).Which water pump do you recommend among these:(1) Valco 261PL or Valco 261PT(2) Davey HS50-05TI'd be MOST grateful if you could kindly advice me on any reliable brand that you know (apart the ones that I mentioned). We're basically looking for a very reliable pump up to around $700 (preferably less).BTW, according to you, what's the typical horsepower we should be looking for? Will 1hp suffice??Thank you very much!
Nobody can accurately answer this question until you give more information. To size a pump, you need to know the flow rate you are trying to acheive (gallons per minute) and the total head (feet) you are trying to acheive. GPM is based off the max flow rate of the fixtures you are using at any given time. Fixtures such as toilets and sinks have typical flow rates. Head is calculated by taking your incoming water pressure (psi) and subtracting pressure losses from pipes and fittings (psi) and working pressure of your furthest fixture. For a small building, like a house, you can probably estimate your head to be the height of your building (incoming water pipe to ceiling of top floor). If that distance is 30 feet, you'll want a pump to acheive 30 feet of head at about 5 gpm. 5 gpm will allow for a shower and a sink to run at the same time. Toilets are low gpm unless you are using flush valves instead of flush tanks. I've never heard of Valco or Davey. In commercial applications, I've always used Bell and Gossett, but that may be overkill. Just make sure the pump you are getting is a pressure booster pump and not another kind of pump.
Q:removed my water pump to replace it. i have the fan and clutch assembly still attached...i have no idea how to remove these...the fan clutch has bolts that hold the fan to it...and i did remove those but im just not sure how to separate this assembly...my water pump pulley has 4 holes...and no bolts so i presume it's pressed on...and there looks to be a very large nut between the pulley and the fan/clutch assembly...any help would be appreciated on this...i'd much rather go to the parts store w/ the old pump instead of guessing.....thnx in advance...
The fan has a large nut that needs to unscrew off of the water pump. It is easiest to do that when pump is still on engine. It should be standard righthand thread.
Q:How to introduce water pump?
A pump is a machine that transports liquids or pumps liquids. It will be the prime mover of the mechanical energy or other external energy transfer to the liquid, the liquid energy increase, mainly used to transport liquids including water, oil, alkali liquid, emulsion, suspension emulsion and liquid metal, but also transport liquid, gas mixtures and liquids containing suspended solids. Pump performance of technical parameters are flow, suction, lift, shaft power, water power, efficiency, etc.; according to the different principles of work can be divided into volume pumps, vane pumps and other types. Displacement pump is to use its studio volume changes to transfer energy; vane pump is to use the rotating blade and water interaction to transfer energy, there are centrifugal pumps, axial flow pumps and mixed flow pumps and other types.A pump is a machine that transports liquids or pumps liquids. Q:replaced water pump and thermostat, flushed, opened bleeder valve had long life red colored original coolant, no visible leaks obstruction, when became hot on highway, accelerated quickly and temp back down to norm, eventually after 3hrs driving o.heated stopped and got towed home, new water pumps fins/pulley not turning as freely as old one, no leak out of inspection hole, hoses good shape.2001 2.2l ohv sunfire, air cond.
Your new pump will be tighter then your old pump just makes sense and no you can not pack grease around the bearing, it's sealed you can't even see it. You have given me the best clue you could have and that was that you accelerated and the temp went down. What you did was force more water to circulate in the system. So that leads me to think you have air in the system or the fan is not doing it's job. I'm going with the air in the system but if your car has a viscus fan drive I'd give it a turn, it should not free wheel. Why dose the work head gasket ALWAYS have to come up when someone say overheat? Keep it simple and go back to the last thing done.
