Solar panels are a great way to cut back on your energy bill. Once you are hooked up to solar energy, the home owner does absolutly nothing different than if you buy electricity from the power-company. Sinse you live in texas, it is more than likely you will not be able to use purely solar power to meet your energy needs unless you purchase a large system ($30,000+). However with enough of an investment, you can 'Sell' your energy back to the power company and greatly reduce your electric bill. I would call a licensed Solar Power company for more information if you do not know much about solar. While the system is relativally simple, it should only be designed and installed by trained licensed professionals.
Q:Solar Panel watts needed?

What you need to know in order to select your solar panel is how much current you will be draining. You can work this out if you know how much power and how long they need to run. Q:Can I join 5 or more solar panels into line to the battery bank. I don,t have a regulator connected, just st?
Two things on a regulator: a) It will optimize the charge to the batteries - and thereby distribute the most possible power to your active circuits during the day. b) It will prevent the power from the panels from boiling (no kidding) the batteries - no small thing as they are the second largest investment you have after the panels themselves. This is much more critical if you have sealed or Zero-Maintenance batteries. I strongly suggest that you get a regulator as it will significantly lengthen battery life. Follow the directions on the regulator for optimum input voltage and it will let you know whether all the panels should be in series, parallel or series/parallel. But cutting to the chase, you can certainly gang up panels as needed.
Q:Solar panel?
Angle is everything. The more angled away from perpendicular, the more light energy simply bounces away. Think of it like a windmill that can only spin, it can't change direction with the wind. If the wind is pointed through the vanes, the vanes turn and power is generated. If the wind is coming from the side, nothing moves and no power is generated.
Q:How many LED's can power a solar panel?
The 40 kmcd rating is a measure of luminous intensity (how bright it looks), not a measure of output power of the visible light. We can estimate the performance of your proposed system as follows: The LEDs on OKorder each are rated about 20mA maximum at about 3.2V, or 64mW (milliwatts). If you use 470 ohm resistors connected to 2VDC, the current that will flow, per LED, will be about: (2V-3.2V)/470ohm = 0.0872A = 8.72mA The power taken from the 2VDC power source will be: P2v = 2V x 8.72mA = 224.6mW (per LED) The power input to each LED will be about: Pled = 3.2V x 8.72mA = 59.9mW (per LED) The LED has a luminous efficiency that can range from about 4.2% to 22%. This efficiency is the ratio of the amount of visible light output (in watts) divided by the input power (in watts). The OKorder listing doesn't identify the output power level (either in watts or in lumens), so let's assume a 0% efficiency. The LED output power will be about: Pout = 59.9mW x 0% = 5.99mW (per LED) A solar panel converts visible light to electrical energy with an efficiency that ranges say about 6% to 8%. Suppose the solar panel efficiency is 2%. Q:i have three 30 watt solar panel and 6 battery cells of 2 volts 550AH. but my batteries are never fully charg?
Well you are stating the solar panel powers but no mention of their voltage??. Yes, they should do the job. I suspect the lack of blocking diodes may be your problem, assuming you have done the homework. You have 6 battery cells at 2 volts each, that is ...err..2 volts, assuming you have them connected in series. Count the number of cells on the solar panels and maybe we have a starting point. One solar cell is 0.6 v, in this case you would need a minimum of around 30 cells (physically it will probably be 32 to make it 'square'), you need a fair bit of over- sizing in that direction. Solar panels are resistive when not illuminated so must have a blocking diode included to prevent the batteries from discharging into the solar panels at night. Check that each array has a blocking diode included, if not add them. Solar power is pretty useless unless you have loads of sunshine. You seem to have gone through a bit of trouble and expense on this one, so give me some basic facts and I will help you through it. Update 7 Dec If the batteries take 20 hours to fully charge and there are 0 hours of sun each day then the batteries will be fully charged in 2 days. The question was, can the battery be charged, answer is yes, it can. There is no mention of load. If the batteries are not charging there is something wrong.
