Q:I have a cabin in the woods and need more light. I do have enough sun but I was wondering how or where do I get a solar panel to lead to a power outlet? In a perfect world I would like to get a solar panel with a connecting wire to an outlet or something so I could power a small TV. I know its hard enough but can I get that pre-made? Or even lastly should I look at wind power consider I would like this to be under $500? Thank you for putting up with this bundle of questions.
Wow. I couldn't tell you how much something like that would cost, but I would expect it to be pretty high. I don't think you are going to find a panel out there that is going to pump out enough juice to provide 0ac. It would involve a battery system and a DC to AC power inverter. You would have to let the system charge for a time and then you would be able to use if for a little while.
Q:Can solar panels be installed on public parks or gardens?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on public parks or gardens. In fact, installing solar panels in these areas can be a great way to promote renewable energy, reduce carbon emissions, and generate clean electricity to power nearby facilities or feed into the grid. Additionally, solar panels can provide shade for park-goers and enhance the overall sustainability of the space.
Q:Hi everyone, I am a novice in solar energy system. I want to know if I am on the right track. Recently I bought a 30 W solar panel, 5 Amp controller, and a 22 Ah battery, how many watts and what kind of INVERTER do I need? I did an research some said 50 W and some said 300 W. And am I right on the 5 amp controller and 22 Ah battery to provide larger output of electric, or the higher the # the greater output for 30 W solar panel?Really appreciate for anyone who help!!!
With a 30 watt panel, producing about 2 amps, your not going to have much power from that. A 22 AH battery will give you 2 AH of usage. A battery should never be drained below 50%. What this works out to be is simply Amp draw for 2 hours. Which equals to 2V light bulb that draws amp for 2 hours. Not much. Now to replace that usage with your 30 watt panel, provided the panel is clean and in max sunlight, it will take 6 hours. If you attach an inverter to your system for 5 Volt Usage then the DC voltage drawn from the battery is very high. Example: Say you use a 5 Volt component that requires 50 Watts per hour to operate. The inverter will draw 5 Amps out of the Battery every hour to operate that component. That gives you and /2 of use before the battery is down to 50%.. Maybe that will be enough to charge up a standard Laptop battery. I have 2 30 Watt panels that produce 5 Amps, 4 6V batteries that have 480 AH and a 25 Amp Controller with a booster that increase the amp output to 20 Amps per hour. I live full time in an RV and raise the panels to get max output when I am parked. This system provides me with all the 5V throught the 500 Watt inverter that I need. Good luck on you system.
Q:is this fact true? - its a limitation to solar panels during summer when it's in extremly hot countrie. I've heard it from my science teacher .. please give detail if you have any and any more benefits/limitations is welcomed .. Thank you :) !
So what do higher temperatures do to solar photovoltaic panels? As temperatures rise, the efficiency of solar panels decreases. Heat causes electrical resistance to the flow of electrons. On days where the temperature is more than 75 degrees, the electrical resistance makes the voltage fall thereby producing less kilowatts per hour. Your roof is much hotter than temperatures on the ground. That’s why solar panels are not mounted flat to a roof. There’s usually a few inches of spaces between the panels and roof so air flow can easily pass through and cool the panels down. There are some photovoltaic panels that are designed specifically to operate in hotter temperatures. These panels have a higher temperature coefficient. This is especially important in high heat climates like Arizona or New Mexico, but probably wouldn’t make too much of a difference in New England (except maybe this year). If you do live in one of these areas, you should speak to your solar installer to make sure they are using they right equipment for your region. Please note: Solar thermal panels used to heat water can withstand high temperatures without any degradation. In fact, hotter temperatures would actually be better for these types of modules.
Q:Can anyone give me a link to a website that sells really big solar panels? Enough to run a small cafe on entirely solar power.
I think you may be surprised how much energy a little cafe like that uses. Since the air conditioning, refrigerators, and other appliances are going nonstop, I'd expect the energy usage to be several times that of a normal house. If you have access to the electric bills of the cafe while it was in operation, look up the kWh's used per month. For scale, I will say that our house uses 500 kWh per month, and needs 3 kW of panels to keep up with that. Scale up to match the restaurant, as a ballpark estimate. If you don't have access to the electric bills, then go visit a similar cafe in town, or a nearby town, and ask them how much their electric bill is. If the ballpark estimate still looks doable to you, then contact a professional solar installer to get an accurate, no-obligation estimate. Most likely, the cafe will use gas heat for cooking. But if not, electricity from solar panels is probably the most inefficient way to cook. Consider having solar ovens for most of the cooking, if you have land, with gas as a backup on cloudy days.
Q:I'm from Toledo, OH about 2 miles from the MI line. We are a foster family and have adopted 5 children. We just moved into a 5400+sq 2 story home. We have (3) 2.5-3 ton AC units to cool this huge house. We got the house cheap...$75k couldn't pass it up! Anyway...I was wondering how many solar panels it would take and of what wattage to power these Central Air Units and maybe the rest of the house. We have 3 people in our home......9 of which are children who leave the lights on and run hot water to beat the band. We have all brand new energy star appliances and front loader washer and dryer. Gas Range and Gas hot water tank. Was thinking of using metal window frames and buying solar cells and making my own panels. Just don't know how much to buy. We face south with no trees. Constant Sun. thanks for your help. An e-mail address to bounce questions off of would be helpful if you experienced. tx.
Basically, the answer to your question is forget it. Your approx 8 tons of AC will require about 28 KW of electricity just to run them. Add the rest of the house requirements and your talking a load of 50KW or more. Even if your state has a subsidy program, (and most of them are out of money now), it's a $200,000. system. Making your own panels would be a mistake. Reliability and survival are the key measures for a panel system and homemade panels are just not going to be reliable enough to survive the cold winters. In the end, it is always cheaper to buy good, conservatively rated commercial panels, especially in view of the fact that prices have been tumbling lately. Often, the mounting, interface and conversion costs are greater than the cost of the panels themselves. You might save some bucks by fabricating a mounting framework yourself and installing it, but such a system would not qualify for most state programs and.... you had better be an expert architect or engineer to put together something that will work well. The basic problem after all of this is that your maximum demand will be at night and the panels put out nothing at night. Better to forget about a 00% solution. You can install a modest 0 - 20KW system for perhaps $50,000 costs after rebates and subsidies and perhaps ... it might cover about /4 of your energy needs and might just, pay the investment back in 0 to 5 years. Get first rate equipment and professional installation, if you want the system to perform reliably. Solar voltaics make a lot of sense for Arizona and perhaps Florida. For anyone north of the Mason Dixon line however, fossil fuels are cheap, reliable and work far better.
Q:Can solar panels be used in areas with high levels of noise or vibration?
Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high levels of noise or vibration. Solar panels are designed to withstand various environmental conditions, including noise and vibration. However, it is important to ensure that the mounting structure and installation are done properly to minimize any potential impact on the panels' performance.
Q:Can solar panels be used to power swimming pools or hot tubs?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power swimming pools or hot tubs. Solar energy can be harnessed through solar panels and converted into electricity to operate the pumps, heaters, and other equipment required to maintain the desired temperature and cleanliness of the water in swimming pools or hot tubs.
Q:thinking of getting a portable solar panel laptop charger...may be a stupid question but may be a very intelligent one as well ;)
If you intend to use your panels inside a plane, answer is: solar panel intended for indoors use would most likely work inside a plane without problems. If you intend to mount your panel outside a plane :) it would actually work better than on the ground - there is more light at high altitudes and above clouds than it is on the ground. I'm not sure what portable in this case means - how big or how small is your panel? Solar panels are known for their low efficiency, so high-power solar panels are too big and too heavy to be used in aeroplanes.
Q:i want to build a stationary model of a solar panel and i dont know if it is going to be too simple or not i also want ideas to make it betterplease criticism is allowedmy idea was to make a case, just like a real solar panel, and take plexiglass to make it. i want to add some models of photovoltaic cells that look like they are in a solar panel . i want to add the fake shoulderings as well . i want to make the case openable by hinges.i would like some of your thoughts and ideas to help me .thx
