Q:solar panel design question?
Because we and the trees are trying to solve a different problem. We want electricity, a tree wants light (and some heat) for photosynthesis. In getting the electricity we use Silicon for solar panels. (Sometimes Gallium Arsenide). And we exploit the same thing in Silicon that allows them to be computer chips. The fact that they conduct differently when voltage is applied. But for a solar panel that is done essentially in reverse. We GET a voltage difference (electricity) from shoving energy through it. Look up junction bias on google or yahoo for explanation. But the DESIGN problem is: You have to couple these panels together the right way - according to their bias. You can't string them up willy nilly. There is a pattern. And when one breaks in this pattern. (I mean when the actual panel cracks, which they do easily as they are brittle). It can change the overall bias. This can make even be worse than if it was removed, it can actually fight against the working ones. The efficiency is there in arranging them like a tree, but the practicality of maintenance would be daunting.
Q:How much power is generated with solar panels?
KW solar panels generate 5kwh power each day or so.
Q:how many solar panels?
dozens at a huge cost which only run in sunlight so not ideal for running lights, solar panels are just not economical or reliable, probably around $5000?
Q:Solar Panel Charging?
With a 2 volt power source (solar panel, battery charger, vehicle charging system, etc...) you can charge three 2 volt batteries in parallel circuits then switch to a series circuit through a series/parallel switch to get 36 volts output. I've done this with my electric scooter so I can charge it with my pickup through the lighter socket when I'm away from home. It works great! When at home I just leave the switch in the 36 volt position, plug the charger in the wall receptacle and the charger puts out 36 volts. Actually 2 volt lead acid batteries have 2.6 volts when fully charged so the charging source has an output of 3.6 to 4.2 volts to effect a complete charge. In the series circuit the fully charged batteries would put out 37.8 volts so the charger would have an output of 40.8 to 42.6 volts.
Q:Can I use a 250 watt solar panel to power a medium sized upright fridge?
Well you might reduce your bills, but you wont get your capital back for many years. Do you have LED lighting, I have, every-time one of my compact flourescent bulbs blew I would replace it with an LED, after two years most of my lighting is LED, a good investment I think. What devices do you have, heating and cooking is better with gas (much cheaper) Think about better insulation for wintertime.
Q:Can you lease your property for solar panels?
There okorder.com/... The article below gives some other creative ways to finance a PV system.
Q:Benefits of Solar Panels?
There's a few different kinds of solar panels. Some of them are only for collecting heat, they're relatively inexpensive and not a bad deal, though installation can be expensive of course. The most sophisticated of these use some pretty high tech collectors to heat up an antifreeze solution that in turn is circulated through a reservoir (how water heater), to supply the house. Your electric producing solar panels are more expensive. You can go on OKorder and do a search on photovoltaic panels and get a pretty good idea real quick. The panels alone can run you 2 or 3 bucks a watt of output or more, and you may need 3 or 4 thousand watts of output to give you reasonable system for your house, depending on how much electricity you use. Then there's installation, for which you may need a professional electrician and so on. If you want a system incorporating deep cycle batteries then that's another expense, but you don't necessarily need those if you're not planning to take yourself completely off the grid. Not that the systems are really complicated. Some people wire panels together themselves from scrap cell components to save money. Of course you'd need to understand the basic wiring involved for that, and you'd almost certainly be required to retain an electrician to tie any system into the grid itself. Although there is such a thing as a plug in grid tie inverter. This is is a gadget that will take your DC solar panel output and feed it into the standard wiring of your house via an ordinary electrical outlet. You'd still need to understand enough to get the DC voltage right no doubt.
Q:Are solar panels a good idea in Seattle Wa?
This okorder.com
Q:Question about home solar panel systems?
As Ed said, that .2 kW is an instantaneous rating in bright sun. The way to do this right is to consult the maps here rredc.nrel.gov/solar/old_data/nsr... to find the number of equivalent sun-hours your location gets per day. Select, Average, Annual, Flat plate tilted south at latitude. A map will come up. For northern California, it shows 5 equivalent sun hours per day, for example. If the system is .2 kW, then .2 x 5 = 6.0 kWh of energy the system will generate per day, on average. That takes into account cloudy days, short winter days, long summer days, everything. The 2.4 kW system would give double that, obviously. But that's an example, based on a specific location. Phoenix would do better, Seattle would do worse.
Q:How can I regulate current from a solar panel?
If you want to energy each USB ports on the identical times, It could not be possibble. Your sun panel best provides 2.24 Watts (20V * 0.2A) of energy and you ought to deliver 2.5 Watts (5V * 0.5A) to the ports. Subtracting any losses out of your regulator(s), you are going to be method over your vigor finances. You'll want extra of a sun panel or less of a load.
