Q:The inverter I am using gets the required 2 DC volts from the solar panel, but fo some reason it just won't output the 0 AC voltage. When the inverter is hooked to a car battery, it works just fine off the same 2 DC rating. Help me out please...
Solar panels output a very small amount of current. Even though you're getting 2V from the panels, you aren't getting enough amperage to power even the inverter itself, let alone anything plugged into the inverter. Car batteries are able to be used with inverters because they can crank out enough amps to power the inverter and whatever is plugged into it. Inverters only step up voltages and change DC to AC. They do not increase power (wattage) potential. If you want to plug in a 20W appliance into the inverter, the 2V source must be able to deliver 20W of power regardless of voltage. In pretty much everything solar powered, the panels are used in conjunction with batteries. The solar panels slowly recharge the batteries. The batteries are where most of the power comes from. Nothing is driven directly from the solar panels themselves unless the power requirement is low enough, such as a calculator. Solar panels will have an output rating in watts (W). If the wattage of your inverter plus whatever you plug into it is lower than the panel's output rating, then it can power it directly, provided you have 00% light input into the panel.
Q:I have a home made 24 volt electric cart. It is powered by two 2Volt deep cycle batteries. Since the motor runs on 24 volts the batteries are wired in series to produce the 24 volts. I only have a 2 volt battery charger, but I also have two 2 volt solar panels. It is a pain having to unhook wires, rewire it, or charge them one at the time.HERE IS THE QUESTION REALLY... Can I wire the two 2 volt solar panels together in series (ie: negative to positive) then connect it to the existing 24 volt system and have it charge the batteries fine. I know basic wiring, but I know nearly nothing about solar panels, will it work fine? will it cause them to break? or short out?(additional info, the solar panels are only rated at 5 amps so it will not overcharge the batteries or anything)
Wiring the panels in series should be ok as long as they are exactly the same. Different impedance's could damage the panels. Remember that Voltages and Amperage's are indirectly proportional meaning that if you series your panels your voltage will rise but the amperage will be reduced.
Q:What is the cost of installing solar panels?
The cost of installing solar panels can vary depending on several factors such as the size of the system, location, type of panels, and any additional equipment or services required. On average, the cost can range from $15,000 to $25,000 for a residential installation. However, it is important to consult with solar installation companies to get accurate quotes tailored to your specific needs.
Q:Can solar panels be installed on data centers?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on data centers. In fact, many data centers are increasingly adopting solar energy to power their operations, as it offers a sustainable and cost-effective solution. By installing solar panels on data centers, they can reduce their carbon footprint, lower energy costs, and contribute to a greener environment.
Q:How do solar panels affect the homeowner's insurance policy?
Solar panels can have an impact on a homeowner's insurance policy as they are considered an additional structure or improvement to the property. While they may increase the overall value of the home, they also introduce potential risks such as damage from storms or accidents. Homeowners should inform their insurance provider about the installation of solar panels to ensure adequate coverage and potentially adjust their policy accordingly.
Q:Ok so my electric bill is through the roof because of the air conditioner (mini-split). Is there any kinds solar panel I can buy at a store and install it myself? Do I need any skills? Which brand? blah...blah...blah...
Unless you live in an area with a very high UV index, like Las Vegas for example, solar panels are not cost-effective. You definatly should not attempt to install solar power yourself if you intend to power a residence with it (unless you live in a shack). A certified electrician is required in order to connect your equipment to your house's electrical system. It isnt just as simple as a few panels. You need a converter that turns the DC voltage generated into AC. You also need equipment to connect to the metering system for your house. If you want to see if it is cost effective, you will need your electric bills that show usage for a year and the price per kWH. There are a lot of websites that have calculators for solar power systems.
Q:I want to add solar panels to my home. I was looking online and it seems there are so many different kinds! How does it hook up to the electrical grid? How much do I need for a 2000 sf home?
There are different solar panels for different uses For a domestic home it all depends on how much electricity you are going to use per month or per year For a normal use home (2 adults, 2 children) I presume one need to install a panels that would produce about4 to 5000 Kilo wats of energy per year Based on the type and the out put of the panels the suppler and the person who is advising you will guide you how many panels you will be requiring to install Take a professional help They are better informed and also knowledgeable
Q:Mitsubishi Solar Panels For Home Installation: How Much Do The Panels Cost?
Mitsubishi solar panels are sold in pairs. I was in the market this week, checking on solar panels to install in my own house / workshop. Here's the price list I got from online and wholesale dealers for a pair of Mitsubishi panels: * Model MF20EC4 (20 watts) -- $590 * Model MF25UE5N (25 watts) -- $60 * Model MF75MF5 (75 watts) -- $799 * Model MF80UD4 (80 watts) -- $820 * Model MF85UD5 (85 watts) -- $850 BP Solar, PowerUp Solar GE Solar too have their own panels with a low-to-high price range. Go for BP solar panels as they're more affordable for home installation and good value for money.
Q:Can solar panels be installed on south-facing windows?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on south-facing windows, as long as there is enough sunlight exposure throughout the day. South-facing windows tend to receive the most sunlight, making them a suitable location for solar panel installation. However, it is important to consider any potential obstructions or shading that may affect the panel's efficiency.
Q:I am planning to buy some solar panels for my cabin and i want to be able to store the electricity. what kind of batteries should i get? i will be running simple things like a tv and radio. where can i buy these batteries? where should i look for the best batteries?
If you will be storing them outdoors, you can use auto batteries. Indoors, use sealed marine batteries. Number and size depends on your needs. You will need a charge controller between the solar panels and the batteries to get the maximum power out of the array and to avoid damage to the batteries. And you will need an inverter to convert the 2 or 24 volts to 20 or 240 VAC. One large lead acid battery will supply about 000 watt-hours of energy, enough for 200 watts for 5 hours. You have to look at your loads and decide on how many batteries you need. Frequently it is cheaper to buy new appliances that use less power, as that power difference can save a lot of money in batteries, inverter, charge controller and solar panels. But it sounds like a few thousand watt-hours will be enough, or 2 large batteries. The real limiting factor is how much money you want to spend for the solar panels themselves. .
