Q:i am traveling to tw. would like to know in taipei where is the spot to get cash from ATM. also would like to know if the power outlet configuration in taiwan is the same as that in the US. thank you.
In early may, the temperatures should range from low 20 degrees celcius to low 30 degrees celcius. It might be rainy more than not, which may make it feel colder sometimes. expect hot and humid. I think May is the 'plum rains season.' Beitou is still quite pretty in parts even when it rains. Be ready to buy an umbrella and have some kind of hat ready to go with you. you should make sure your ATM card has a cirrus logo on it or some other international money transfer standard. I haven't heard of your bank here so be prepared for it to possibly not be here. (it might actually be here, I just don't pay that much attention to banks that are not mine) Having a visa or mastercard is a good idea as a backup if your bank is not internationally recognized. most hotsprings will be family hotsprings and will require you to wear a swimsuit and possibly a swimcap. If you pay extra you can get a room with a private tub and you can do whatever you want in that. Most doctors don't recommend staying in the water more than 20 minutes. If you feel dizzy, get out and drink water. Most department stores or electronics stores will have international travel power adapter kits. The power in taiwan is 110V AC I believe (if i am wrong, someone please correct me!) It is the same plug in as Canada or USA, with 2 prongs that are straight. Some outlets have 3 prongs (top 2 straight, bottom one cylinderical) but the top 2 is all you need.
Q:Aren't they giving the corporations and banks more power by giving the government more power? And then they want the corporate controlled government to create more regulations that will shut down small business so big business doesn't have to worry about competition.
The US consistently ranks as among the most corruption free democracies in the world. However, in public opinion polls of how citizens see the corruption level of their govt, the US consistently ranks quite lowmeaning we tend to think of our govt as corrupt even when it is not, whereas most other nationsincluding the really corrupt onestend to have the opposite perspective. If you want to know who has the power in our govt, just follow the money. The largest drivers of spending are entitlements. Programs aimed at the poor. Defense certainly is a large component as well, but it's growth rate is fairly flat and those entitlements are growingexponentially in some cases. It is the poor who wield the power. The notion that a minority of wealthy power brokers runs things is a great Hollywood story, but it is untrue. The money flows show that it is the poor who run the govt. They pay negative taxes with the EITC, and receive substantial direct payments and support. And many regulations are aimed exclusively at their benefit at the expense of everyone else. Perhaps you think that is how it should be? So be it. But let's not continue the fairy tale that rich cigar smoking white dudes gather in shrouded rooms to control the govt. If such a fairy tale were true, the spending would reflect it. The taxation would be regressive, not one of the most steeply progressive in the world.
Q:I'm doing a mock trial, and I have to question Nicholas Biddle. I'm defending Andrew jackson that he did not violate the separation of powers wen he destroyed the bank. I have already questioned John Marshall and Andrew Jackson, asking questions along the lines of is the veto unconstitutional. Any ideas on what i can ask Biddle about the bank and if he thinks that Andrew Jackson should be innocent since all he did was veto? Questions can be about anything related to the bank
Ask him questions centering around the idea of whether it's right for one man to have so much power over other people's finances. Andy lost a lot of money because of the bank, so you could bring up that too. Do a lot about the common man power of the people
Q:I see those wind turbines and the floating wave power towers for producing electricity.I was curious, is the Great Lakes good for producing wind and wave power generation like in the Oceans? Thanks!
The wave power is not a good option for the Great Lakes. Although you could generate some power, I don't believe that it would be a viable option for the cost to energy produced ratio. The waves just don't have the umph as the ocean. Of course, if you had the capital for the wave power, given enough time you could pay back the investment easily. Wind power though would be great solution there. Wind power provides more energy than our current solar-power technology, and you can be charging your battery bank overnight, as well as during the day.
Q:I'm 18 years old now, and I need to learn about the fundamentals of banking. Is there a site that can easily explain all aspects of banking there I need to know?My family seems to enjoy having power over my money and bank savings, and I want to know how I can shift these things.
I suggest going into the branch and speaking with an account representative. I've banked with Wells Fargo for over 10 years now and have had very good experiences with them. They can sit down with you and explore all of your options.
Q:economics
Central Bank The Federal Reserve System, the central bank of the United States, was founded by Congress to provide a safe, flexible and stable monetary and financial system. The Federal Reserve carries out the nation’s monetary policy guided by the goals set forth in the Federal Reserve Act, namely to promote effectively the goals of maximum employment, stable prices, and moderate long-term interest rates. The Federal Reserve influences the economy through the market for balances that financial institutions maintain in their accounts at Federal Reserve Banks—Federal Reserve balances. The demand for Federal Reserve balances has three components: reserve balance requirements, contractual clearing balances and excess reserve balances. The supply of Federal Reserve balances is affected by a number of factors, including loans from the Federal Reserve through its discount window facility and term deposits accepted by the Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve Banks offer a range of Central Bank Programs to provide tools and information to assist financial institutions in meeting reporting requirements, understanding policies governing reserve requirements and learning about discount window lending programs.
Q:If you are going to build a solar dish using photovoltaic cells to power a 40,000 homes, would you use a utility grid or battery bank?
Solar dishes are not used to drive photovoltaic cells. You collect the solar radiation direct on the photocells. And usually feed that power to a battery bank for storage until needed. Solar dishes concentrate the solar energy to be used either to warm water ( for heating ) or to boil water, for electricity production, which again is usually stored in battery banks. For large scale ( 40,000 homes is large ) it might make sense to store the energy as GPE in a high level lake ( called pumped storage ) or as molten salt and you would then need a grid to distribute the energy to those who need it. Note that the grid itself does not store any energy, so the choice you are given , grid , or battery bank, doesn't make sense. They do not do the same job.
Q:A. It gives traditional banks more revenue. B. It controls government spending. C. It gives traditional banks more power. D. It protects public deposits.
D is the answer. Not A. First you look at WHO controls the reserve requirement. Govt. Central Bank. Option A cannot be the answer as it is not an objective of the govt. Govt looks at social welfare of its citizens. The public deposits is the money the govt owns (not the consumers' money, pls do not misinterpret.) By ensuring proper accountability of the reserve req, the interest rate and hence value of the public 's money is ensured. Hence, it allows the govt to retain or even inc the value of public deposits to being about public welfare when it is spent (on infrastructure healthcare, etc.)
Q:but i make like $600 per month at this stupid job i have.I could buy a house where i live but it would be one for like 750 square feet.I live with my parents and i'm 29.I am getting like and average of 3.2% interest on my money at the bank.Iknow this sounds liek a stupid question. But really, what should I do?
Where do you live? You could possibly move away from the city and get something bigger. Or wait until you finish school or what ever is limiting your income and then use that on a down payment for when you can afford larger payments.
Q:if you were a superhero, what would your super power be?
I would have all the same powers as superman, but it would be a little bit evil :-I would be trying to impress you by flying you to heavy steel bank vault and bending it open for you, or maybe peeling big steel blocks into flowers hehe
