There is a free software I use call Ableton Live. You can use it for free, but there is a catch... You can use it limitlessly... but you can't save anything... In order to save your work, you have to buy the code from the company, but there are ways getting around that; like finishing your work and then using another program like Audacity or Wiretap Pro to record your finished product. To get started, I would use ableton. Get comfortable and there are many youtube tutorials to help you get started with ableton. And here are the dance artists who use Ableton: Deadmau5, Sasha, Armin Van Burin, Pete Tong, Daft Punk, Dirty Vegas, and Kaskade. They use Ableton mainly because it's great for arranging your music, and with it's sound tools, your only limitations is your imagination.

Q:It seems additive layer manufacturing comes in laser to metal format,if so, acquring just one of these machines (although I realize at a ridiculously high price) covers all the functionalities of many variations of CNC machines. (like mills, lathes, routers etc, of which I assume there are limitations on angular production)Will this not cut the learning curve and rapid prototyping time significantly?Or is there limitations in these type of rapid prototyping machines as well do you think?I just think, learning and using many different machines these days on manufacturing is quickly becoming obsolete. 3D printing is a great technology getting better all the time. While the 3D printer can make all of those shapes within a certain precision (they lay down thin sheets of plastic on top of each other) there are many limitations of the process, such as size, materials, precision, and manufacturing throughput that make it not the best choice in all cases. I designed a part recently out of aluminum that thermally connected a tank to a cold plate heat exchanger. It was made on a CNC mill and could not have been made with 3D printing. Because of the size of it, even if there was a material available, 3D printing would likely have been at least 10X more expensive than CNC milling was. More processes gives engineers more design freedom to come up with better stuff.

No. It all takes a rather large and expensive machine to make sensible amounts of it. CO2 from a pressure cylinder is just a way to avoid having to buy the machine that put the gas under pressure... somebody still needs to have that gear. It's just not you. You could potentially make very small amounts of dry ice with a very well designed triple peltier cooler. But since dry ice sells for a dollar a bucket, or something like that, why invest time and money to make small amounts of it? And the other person was right... what feels dry about it is your skin freezing. Be careful!
