Q:How to remove the musty smell of carpet

Q:I recently had new carpet installed in my home, and I was confused that the name of the color I picked out at the showroom was called quot;Fawn's Leapquot;, but 3 weeks later when the installers arrived, the tag on the carpet roll was named quot;Creston Winter Minkquot;. I called the carpet store and asked them if this was the same carpet I picked out since it seemed a bit lighter in color. They assurred me that it was the same carpet, and that the factory that made it uses that name, whereas the store uses the other for generic purposes. I kept a swatch to compare later on at the showrroom. But is this common with the carpet industry?

theres 2 scenarios that fall into play here.1st- the carpet mills produce the carpet in large lots, some mills give their product a name others a number.carpet distribitutors and stores are able to give carpets whatever name they like, hence the reason you go to home depot w/ a lowes name and you cant find the name but the exact carpet. for example: my carpet distributor has a product line made by shaw mills, called apt +2, but its the only place to find that name. a store that i worked for dealt w/ masiland mills , almost everything that came from that mill had a store given name like the owners sons nickname for example. it makes it seem like that carpet is exclusively made for that store, also, not all dyes are mixed the same way giving a variance in dye lot (the difference between your swatch and the sample. 2- worst case, you picked out a carpet and the store you bought it from found a comparable piece for less money and ordered that thinkin you wouldn't notice the difference and they put even more money in their pocket. go back to that store and see if they have a rug by the name you got and not ordered, if so check the price if different i would seek legal retribution

Q:We are looking for a round rug that's at least 4ft and in a nice brown/tan colored design. We are having a hard time finding one. It must be under $60. Any ideas?

Q:I'm interested in re-carpeting our new house in two small bedrooms, which are approximately 12x14 each. I'm assuming carpet is $1.50 per square foot, but I have no idea about carpet padding.I'm looking into Home Depot for installation.What do you think a rough estimate for my budget should be?Thanks!

It really depends on what you pick out. Synthetic is cheaper than wool. I've recarpeted the same house twice. Once I put down synthetic pile and it was under $2000. Once I put down wool berber and it was $4500. Just really depends on what you pick out. Also, if you pay someone to do the installation, they will charge for every piece of furniture they have to move, charge for pulling up and disposing old carpet, and if you have stairs, they charge extra for those.

Q:Found it on rug after 2 nights, whats the best way to get it out?

Have you attempted baking soda with ginger ale. location the baking soda at the spots and pour a few ginger ale on it allow it set for a at the same time. Or use orange cleanser diluted with cool water.You too can use somewhat bleach with very bloodless water and a broom, if the carpet is off white this must now not exhibit.Bleach could be very, very powerful so it might exhibit on a darker carpet.

Q:my rug is filthy ....we moved in after these people had dogs in my room and it smells like pee when it gets hot so i decided to clean it today and i put Woolite on and scrubbed it then water and soap on it( i didnt care) now its wet and i want to vacuum it up with a regular vacuum .. is this ok and will my carpet stop making my room smell since i scrubbed it twice with Woolite and water and soap

It is best to wait until the rug is dry as you don't want your vacuum powered by electricity to have contact with anything wet. It could cause an electrical shock and you'd get fried. Also, when vacuuming a damp carpet, the floor debris mixed with the dampness can clog your vacuum. To get rid of the smell of urine, mix a shake of baking soda, one cup of vinegar with a gallon of water and a squirt of dish soap. Blot it over the spot and blot dry. The vinegar concoction will take the odor out. It has worked for me.

Q:I am currently building a house. We're almost ready for flooring. We've chosen to put carpet throughout most of the house, besides the kitchen, bath and laundry room. Anyway, we are on a pretty strict budget. I need to know what quality of carpet is best. Like, do I have to buy the super expensive stuff for it to last and stay looking nice? I know that carpets have different weights and densities, does anyone know I should look for when I begin shopping around? oh, fyi: it's about 2000sq ft.

eliminate the pad, dry carpet, put off carpet if mildewed or moldy, dry and manage basement with mildewcide. and do not call any of the restoration agencies that come out and would charge a huge volume merely because coverage is footing the invoice. previous journey with basement would element out you'd be better off doing away with the carpet. How about stained concrete
