Q:Water pump for trough, size? type?
Some people put goldfish in their troughs; I don't know if this is a great life for the goldfish but it would be easier.
Q:what kind of noise does a water pump make when it is going on a car?
There is no noise associated with a water pump going out that I am aware of other than the engine exploding due to excessive heat. The dash guages; especially the engine temp guage, will give you a clue as to a cooling problem, whcih is what the water pump is for. The water pump prevents the engine block from overheating. When the pump fails, the engine overheats and will either shut down, or the engine will burn out. The best way to tell is to monitor the temp guage. If the engine is running hot, it either the water pump, lack of water in the cooling system, or Thermostat failure. Best to have a mechanic check it out. Cheers!
Q:How do I replace a water pump on a 02 Pontiac Grand Prix Se?
WP replacement mini-writeup 1. Empy Coolant from Radiator drain 2. Remove SC and Acc. belts 3. Remove the coolant resevoir tank 3. Remove the Idler pulley with a 15mm 4. Remove the 4 WP pulley bolts with a 8mm 5. Remove the 2 Power Steering Pump bolts with a 13mm(bolts are at 12:00 and 6:00 accessable through the PS pulley holes) 6. Push PS pump 1 inch to the side 7. Remove all 8 WP bolts with a 13mm and a 10mm(3 are 13mm/5 are 10mm) 8. Collect extra coolant until flow stops(a few cups) 9. Apply RTV to both sides of the gasket and WP bolts 10. WP bolts should be torqued to 11lbs+80*/Idler pulley bolt at 36lbs/WP pulley bolts at ~9lbs 11. Reinstall everything and fill the coolant back up 12.
Q:Water pump Decision : NAPA $42 or GM $165. Labor about 4 hrs plan to keep the car.?
I would go with the NAPA one, the GM one that is on the car now did not last forever either, I have had very good luck with after market water pumps for GM vehicles. 4 hours seems a little steep though......Good luck
Q:What is the difference between self-priming and non self suction?
Self suction pump, pumping water conservancy machinery used, composed of a pump body, a rotating assembly, leading assembly, trash cover, and inlet and outlet pipe, a blocking net general assembly; start the motor, dynamic linkage, rotary assembly in promoting the impeller centrifuge, bubble up surging, generates suction. The air inlet pipe, the outlet pipe from the pump body, air exhaust, water outlet pipe outflow, the water pump, excellent performance, deep suction lift, large flow operation, saving time and labor, is the most excellent mechanical pumps in the realistic society.1. self suction pump, as the name implies, pumping tube is under the condition of air, use form a negative pressure pump at work (vacuum), under the influence of the atmospheric pressure will be lower than the water pumping port, then discharged from the pump discharge end. Before this process, there is no need to add "diversion water". The pump with this capability is called a self suction pump".2., some centrifugal or rotary vane pump, before absorbing water, you must add "water diversion" in the pump cavity to form a closed environment, and then pump operation to form negative pressure, to achieve the purpose of water absorption. For example, a manual pump used in rural areas. No self-priming capacity of the pump, each time before adding water to add "water diversion", it is very troublesome.
Q:Why is water pumping cool water is normal, but when pumping hot water pressure and flow are very small?
There may be: first, the water temperature is too high, the impeller damage! But this may not be very likely! Second, but also the water temperature is too high, but may be too high water temperature will be hot water pipe deflated, resulting in no water. Third, it is possible to buy fake and shoddy products!!! Another important problem is that you didn't tell me what kind of pump it was! What forms of work do you have?
Q:How can the pump be stationary?
1, the pump bearing lubrication interruption, bearing burn.2, locking the rotor is jam.3, foreign body corrosion serious impeller lock.
Q:Dry Bearing in my water pump?
i havn't heard of that, but i hear new things every day, sounds to me like it could be timing belt or gears, or a bad W/P it happens if he says its making noise tell him you would like it replaced under warrnty, cuz any were you get them they have at least a 1 year on them, cuz if you pay for a part weither it works fine or not, should not make noise it is not supose to.......i work for NAPA auto parts.....and ask were they got the pump, if he sayz auto zone you best tell them to get the sec on some were else
Q:Could I replace a water pump myself?
Go okorder.com They have on-line repair manuals for just about every car. You'll be guided through entering your vehicle make and engine size/type. Find the water pump and read the directions they give you. I changed the one on my Buick this way. It's cheaper and easier than buying the manual. If it looks to complicated, then take the car to a shop.
Q:water pumps?
Water pumps are available in different types. 1. Centrifugal type: Operate by increasing the velocity of water which, when the velocity is decreased by the Volute casing, the pressure increases. 2. Rotary Gear type.: Operate by Displacement of the water by rotating, gears that trap water between the teeth of 2 rotors of inter-meshing gears that release the water at a higher pressure on the opposite side of the pump to the intake. 3. Piston (reciprocating) type: Also a displacement operation by a piston moving backwards and forwards within a cylinder (like a hypodermic syringe in operation). Back stroke takes water into the cylinder and forward stroke discharges it at a higher pressure. (Double acting types are also used that take in and discharge alternately from both ends). If you mean the water pump of your car, they are generally of the Rotary type.
