Q:I don't know which color to choose. The walls in our living room a a light cream color and we have wood floors.that are a medium brown. We have wood furniture. We will have a baby and that's why we're choosing leather - easier to clean. Which color do you this it's best given this details? Thanks!
All metals are perfect reflectors of electromagnetic radiation. Your suggestion of aluminium foil is a good one but it needs to be perfectly smooth with no wrinkles or creases and I imagine that might be quite difficult to achieve.
Q:Why don't fire fighters use that white foamy stuff that you get in fire extinguishers to fight everyday fires, instead of water?Basically I was watching the news today and there was some cottage fire's some where in England and it just got me thinking. Is the white foamy stuff in fire extinguishers only good for small fires? That makes no sense though. And also if water is better for the bigger fire's then why aren't fire extinguishers filled with water. As soon as this popped in to my head I knew I wouldn't be able to stop thinking about it.So to recap my main question is;Why is water used instead of the stuff in fire extinguishers to fight fires?Any help would be great. :)
When these units are professionally installed, especially on a wood floor, they are always connected to a floor drain. The pans are designed to contain a certain amount of water related to minor spill but would not, (obviously), take care of a major leak. If I were installing this I would locate the floor drain and then cut the pan at the bottom to match the drain. Depending upon the size of your drain, (usually 3), you should be able to by an adapter to slightly raise and seal the drain to the pan. Don't forget to caulk the fittings
Q:I'm retrofitting my air conditioning. my lines are full of this slimey green goo, which smells like lime. what is it? is this bad?? do I need to replace everything??
In most cases yes, however there are NPT(National Pipe Thread) ,Compression, Flared, and HT(Hose Thread) brass fittings. Most PVC fittings are NPT, although you may find HT and very small compression pvc fittings at some hardware stores. The link below may help.
Q:ok. so i bought a pair of bourkes told i would not be able to put them on my helmet. im fine with that. but i have a 4 face shield and its a pain. i would like to have a flashlight on my helmet but if i put it on with the faceshield it creates a problem. If u have a faceshield and a helmet light, explain what you have or what you reccomend
1) Wash your hands 2) Wear tight fit gloves 3) Wash all apparatus with appropriate liquids before and after experiments
Q:Could anyone cite me the exact law and perhaps the reasoning behind it?
Entirely dependent on application. Supply lines can incorporate unlimited bends and fittings. Waste piping shouldn't vary by more than 1/8 per foot. Provide context.
Q:I am planning on doing a science project that involves dry ice and the fog that it creates. Will the fog set off smoke alarms? (I can t find any clear answers)
Maybe they lived in the Montana State University-Billings dorms for a while. The fire alarms would often go off at 3 in the morning on the worst days for weather out of the year, for reasons such as a pipe froze and dripped water on the control panel or a random glitch in the system. This would sometimes happen more than once in a night. It became nearly impossible to take the fire alarm seriously. Especially considering that in the probably 15 or more fire alarm soundings they experienced during the four years I was there, NONE of them were for an actual fire! The closest thing to an actual fire was some burnt toast in the cafeteria. No actual fire, just a thin cloud of smoke and a barely perceivable black circle on the ceiling. I can't say that I really take any fire alarm seriously after that. I take notice when I start seeing smoke.
Q:I want to get a 5mW blue laser pointer, but I know laser pointers can be dangerous so I need to know if there is anything I should know before I get it. Do I need any special goggles or glasses to look at the beam?
That's an old wife's tale. Lightening strikes the same places time and again.
Q:Question: firefighters suggest that the best way to put out a magnesium fire is to pour salt or sand over it. Why is this better than using a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher? This question has something to do with Double/Single displacement reactions.
No. If you punch him in the face, he can bite your fist, and then you'd be a zombie too. May I suggest a shotgun?
Q:I know about the tent and sleeping bags. But for fire and food and going to the bathroom etc
Hello. My name is Richie. I am a 26 year electrician and a home improvement expert. I will help you the best I can. No there is no poison to the touch. PVC cement will dry like plastic. It is paint-able however but it will dissolve paint when applied to it. PVC cement actually melts PVC pipes and fittings together and seals them. Once dried, it is as hard as plastic. Good luck and God Bless. Jesus Christ loves you.
Q:grooving 3 sch 40 pipe without go-no/go guage or vic ruler. wondered what the consequences could be? installing industrial air cond
I would go with the variable blower. It's much more comfortable, quiet and economical. I don't know about other brands, but I have never had one go bad. I install Arcoaire and Comfortmaker, which is the same as Bryant/Carrier (same factory) and it comes with a 10 year parts warranty, and a 10 year no hassle warranty (free furnace replacement if the heat exchanger cracks). Also if the blower motor did go bad the furnace circuit board is configured so a standard blower motor can be used if the tech didn't have one on his truck. I'm not so sure about the brand you chose. I installed one westinghouse a few years ago and didn't like it. By the way, it's CO that's the dangerous one, not CO2 Be sure the furnace is at least 95% efficient so you can get the 30% tax credit off your taxes. I'm a contractor.
