An exhaust system is really only utilized when other performance parts are added like an ECU tune as well as a cold air intake or high performance heads. Also, most exhaust systems don't do much because no1 bothers to do exhaust headers, which are the most important part in my opinion. Your only as good as your weakest link. As for your question, the companies both make good quality stuff. Magnaflows seem to be a little quieter but have a very nice tuned sound. Flowmasters are a little louder (talking 40 series here) and a little more raw sounding. Either is an excellent choice. For trucks, i like the flowmaster 40 series. I hear good things about the 80 series as well. You can always Youtube the mufflers and i'm sure someone has taken a video of a truck like yours with those mufflers. It wont be great sound quality, but it might give you an idea. If your doing this, it'll be for sound, nothing more. If your expecting more power you are going to be really disappointeded.

Q:whats a cat back system and whats the diff between that and a muffler. if they are both desighned to make it sound louder then why not just get the muffler??? its cheaper and makes the car look nicer: a cat back system is a complete system that goes from catalytic converter to wherever you want it to exit and a muffler is just that a muffler not an exhaust system

Q:i have a 97 avalon and want to replace the whole exhaust system. what kind of system would i get? is there a basic exhaust system kit for cars? or do i need a special system for the avalon itself? the manifold pipe is rusted out and the rest is in pretty bad shape. just want to replace the whole thing and not have to worry about any other parts rusting and having to listen to the obnoxious exhaust leak: Landscape fabric and sand. You can find the Landscape fabric at Lowes and Home Depot. Landscape fabric is designed to prevent plants from coming up through it. The sand will also prevent the pool from being punctured.

Just buy a Mercury Marauder exhaust system. Same car dual exhaust. For starters reducing the number of cats In California NO. HOWEVER, in most states as long as you pass the emissions test you are fine. Two performance Cats will work just as fine as 4 chokers in a dual exhaust system. Remember that whatever you do, you must re-install an oxygen sensor so that the computer will properly work.
