- Q:Hello! I was wondering if Vacuum cleaners get rid of germs. I mean, when I think about it, doesn't it probably suck all the germs up? Perhaps it may not kill germs, but it at least gets rid of them on a particular surface(like the carpet.)And if they don't get rid of germs, than how can I get rid of germs on the carpet? I know that Steam Cleaning and shampooing the carpet are good measures, but I don't want to do that on like a weekly basis. I am looking for something that can get rid of germs at least once a week.
- clorox came out with a product recently that is like their hard surface sanitizer but for fabrics. I like it and use it probably once a week on everything ( mattress, carpets, etc) It does however say that over time it may lead to fading of dark fabrics so beware.

- I love my dyson vacuum. I can almost take it apart to clean out a clog tube or to clean the rotating brush. I have 5 animals and it picks up animal hair with ease. My son vacuums for me a lot. He doesn't watch what he does and vacuums up everything. It has survived him and the pets My was new when bought

- Q:Okay, I won't tell you who thinks what, but one of us think that you should dust your furniture, before you vacuum that way whatever dust gets on the floor its vacuumed up. The other thinks you vacuum before you dust...So which is it, do you dust before you vacuum or after?Please help this is so small but I would just like to do one of those kinda I told you so things.. Its a wife thing!
- Always dust AFTER vacuuming because almost all vacuum cleaners expels some dust particles into the air. Now tell him you were right and make him take you out to dinner. <edits I see the majority says dust first, and I 100% disagree because of experience and having been a house keeper all my life. Think about it or better yet get a flashlight, turn the lights off and turn on the vacuum cleaner then shine your flashlight at the vacuum cleaner while it's running and you can see the dust particles flying out of it... and where will it go? on your freshly dusted furniture. I rest my case.

- You probably need to change the vacuum bag. I clean houses for a living and your vacuum cleaner will smell like whatever you suck up. If I clean a house that has a lot of animals and I suck up a lot of pet hair and then I clean another house after that without changing the bag, the vacuum will emit that animal hair smell into the other house.

- In my opinion, no. You don't have to spend that kind of money to get a good quality vacuum cleaner. I own a Hoover, have had it for 17 years, have never had any trouble with it, and it works like a charm. I've heard a lot of bad things about Dyson, including the lack of customer service. If you want a 'premium' vacuum cleaner, Oreck is very good quality and the company stands behind its exceptionally good warranty.
