Q:Do stages have sprung floors. I heard it is bad to dance on a floor that doesn't give any. So if the stage isn't sprung you could get injured. So do they have sprung floors? Thanks in advance!
it depends on the facility. usually theaters have elevated stages, not necessarily sprung or set like dance studios floors are, but the elevation takes off the impact on your body. to be on the safe side, always practice proper and safe technique and execute your movements with plies
Q:My garage floor has settled and now an area of about 4' x 4' is about 1" lower than the rest of the floor. Can I use floor leveling compound on this? If so , what is the maximum depth for the compound? I will need it to be about 1" thick. Can I do this in one application or should I do it in 2 applications of 1/2" each? The part of the floor that settled will not have car traffic, just foot traffic, Thanks for your help
You can do it in one aplication, it would be better. With a chissel make small dents on the existing floor in case it's cement or concreet and that would make the leveling compound better.
Q:I want to redo my kitchen floor (ugly 1970 looking linoleum) in a 120-year old farm house. I want to do something unique that fits with a primitive look (knotty pine walls, original doors and woodwork). I have a pallet of old slate roof shingles that were salvaged from the barn when it was torn down. Most are still in very good shape and I was wondering if there was any way to incorporate this material into the flooring. Can this be used to tile the floor? I'm looking for anyone with info on using slate for flooring - pros, cons and so on. I'd also like info on recommended thickness, type of adhesive, grout, etc.? I've done ceramic tile and refinished hardwood floors, so I have some basic flooring experience. Thanks in advance for any information!
I have a slate floor and it
Q:What is a laminate flooring AC rating?
confusing factor. browse using google. that may help!
Q:Chinese hospitals only have 4 floors ' was a fact of the day at school. Why can't they have any more floors??!
Your fact of the day at school was wrong. Many hospitals have more than four floors. The hospital my husband was in last year (in northwest China) has 14 floors.
Q:I am gonna be a RA next semester. i am placed in all-boys floor. I need to figure out theme for the floor. Help me out!
My floor theme freshman year was really cool. Not an all guy floor but a good theme for guys. It was like double identity. For example you have two people in a room. One of their name tags on the door would be Clark Kent and the other Superman. Or Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I'm a girl and mine was like Posh Spice and my Roommate Victoria Beckham. Just to give you some ideas. It was a cool theme...better than the average/boring movie poster floors. Good Luck!
Q:We have a huge basement that we have bamboo flooring to lay down on. The question is...I heard that floating the floor will actually devalue the house because it is a cheap way to do the floors. Is this true and we have a cement slab to install the flooring on...how would you do it?
The floating floor, as it is called, a an unsecured floor that floats on a material similar to bubble wrap. One respondent mentioned cork, and that has been used too. All floating floors are laminate material, and you do not want to put them any where near moisture. Even in the kitchen causes problems. They cannot take a puddle sitting on them. They are usually made out of chip board or particle board, which is essentially saw dust. Floating floors work okay in dinning and living rooms if an entry way doesn't open to them where water can be tracked in. My advise would be to NOT put them in a basement if you are in a moisture prone area of the country. If you are in say a desert region, you could get away with it. They don't lower the value of the house, unless you house is a grade A, high quality one, then it looks cheap. If you have a relatively good slab, why not put down ceramic tile? It is durable, water resistant, you can do it yourself, and for warmth, you can throw down some area rugs. Just use a dark grout on a floor as the dirt will turn a lighter grout Grey. Good Luck
Q:helpppppppppppp!!!!! Floor problem a1, a4, a7, a10
The floor function just means to take the greatest integer less than or equal to the number inside. Therefore: a(0) = [0/4]*4 = 0*4 = 0 a(1) = [1/4]*4 = 0*4 = 0 ... a(4) = [4/4]*4 = 1*4 = 4 ... a(7) = [7/4]*4 = 1*4 = 4 ... a(10) = [10/4]*4 = 2*4 = 8
Q:Carpet or hardwood floors?
How can you even ask, LOL! Hard floor every time! Carpets are disgusting traps for hair and dirt.
Q:We are putting new floor in our bathroom but we need some advice. We have linoleum floor on top of linoleum floor. There is also a small area that sinks down when you step on it, because water got under the linoleum floors. The floor right now is not completely glued down, there are some lose parts and that's why we want to get new floors. So is it okay to put cement board over the existing floor and then tile over that?
For okorder /... It is always recommended to have a level surface when installing new floors. I wouldn't install over the linoleum... take it out. and level your new subfloor to make your tile flooring really perfect. On this link above are tons of helpful hints on how to do this, what to do etc,. Have a wonderful day!
