AC Frequency Conversion Motor
The induction motor AC drive system is the new technology developed in 1990s.
The working principle is that, the three phase AC is sent to the stator winding, generating rotor winding and current.
The rotor will then rotate along with the rotation direction of magnetic field.
The vector controlled frequency controlling technology is applied to the motor controller.
The predominant feature of AC motor is no need of carbon brush, and no limitation to the maximum current. So that
the motor will get larger power, bigger braking torque force, and run with faster speed.
The heat of AC motor generates mainly at the stator coil of motor shell, easy for cooling and heat radiating.
Compared to the DC motor, the AC motor is equipped with fewer components and no need of easy wearing parts.
So it hardly needs maintenance, and is more efficient and reliable.
Thanks to the development on frequency conversion technology of AC induction motor, and improvement on the
powerful semiconductor and microprocessor, the induction motor AC drive system is with higher efficiency, smaller
size, lighter weight, simpler structure, easier cooling system and longer working time.
The speed regulation range of AC drive system is wide, so that low speed and constant torque operation or high
speed and constant power operation is realized, which greatly meet the practical demands of electric vehicle.
Regenerative braking is a type of non-contact braking with simpler structure. No matter whether the driver
brakes by braking pedal or by direction switching, the motor will always be at generating state, and
transform the electromagnetic torque into braking torque. As a result, the wear of braking sheet is
reduced to the minimum and the mechanical wear is also greatly reduced, so that the maintaining
fee is reduced and the operation cost is lowered down.
The AC motor has higher efficiency in operating and braking. Regenerative energy will be generated
when braking or switching, the harder, the more. The energy storage device of AC drive system will
be turned on automatically during braking or switching, and send the energy back to battery, prolong-
ing the battery working time. For some DC drive truck lift, the regenerative braking works only for hard
braking, which means part of the regenerative heat has been transformed into heat. However,
for AC motor, regenerative energy will be generated and persisted at any case,
with higher regenerating efficiency.
