- Q:I have a t-mobile cell phone and since I returned home from vacation Sunday, I have noticed that my phone now says ATT as its service, not 'T-mobile.' I haven't done anything to my phone, and have no idea why this is happening! A few of my friends who live next door also have T-mobile and have the same thing happening. What's even more odd is we have far better service now (even though ATT has horrible service in this area- New York's Hudson Valley).Any idea as to why this is may be occurring?
- It just means you're connecting to an ATT tower instead of to a T-Mobile one. Sometimes that happens because there's an issue with the T-Mobile tower and your phone can't connect to it. (Like if they're working on it right then or it's just busted, which seems to happen often.) If it's giving you better service, that's awesome, so don't bother to ask T-Mobile to put you back on their towers (tech support can do that I think). Roaming on other towers is included on T-Mobile so it's not going to affect your bill at all.

- Hello, I just did this recently. First, once you sign on to Yahoo Messenger, down about 3/4 of the way down, below your friends or family list of names online, you will see Phone Out and a Phone In. You will need to click on the Phone Out and follow the instructions for calling, including entering your credit card number. Then, to begin making calls, you will have to follow the instructions that are sent to you from Yahoo in an email they will send to the email address you provided to them. This will take a few days to get done, so, you may not be able to make calls this way til after Christmas. Sorry
- Q:I have tried to send SMS messages using Yahoo messanger to my friend's mobile phone in India, both from Yahoo Messenger on my phone and my computer. He rarely receives the messages. Also, I have received notification of only one his messages on my mobile phone but couldn't open it to read it, and I have only received a handful of messages from him to my computer. How can I get this to work? And if there was something like he had to have responded to my first SMS before he can get anymore, how do I reset that so we can start again? - Best is a subjective measurement. For me, my Trac Phone is the best because it does exactly what I want and nothing more. No cameras, no MP3 players, no internet, no nonsense. The battery lasts about 7-10 days between charges. I have never been anywhere (and I travel all up and down the west coast and up into the mountians) where it would not get signal but other phones would -- just the opposite in fact, mine is usually the only one that WILL get signal out of the major metro areas. The phone itself costs about $18 and if I loose it or break it, there is no charge to transfer my minutes to a new one (just $18 for a new phone, less than most others). The minutes are a lot more expensive though, unless you buy the service contract sort of thing. But I like being able to just quit using the thing if I don't need it and no further expenses.

- You can, or you can get one with a SIM already installed and get the mobile phone provider to transfer your old number to the new SIM. This process takes a few days. The main difference is that using your old SIM will mean that you are still using the same network. If a different network is offering the phone and/or calls etc more cheaply, take the second option with a new SIM on the new network, and your old number transfers to the new network.
