Q:No inspector would intentionally overlook a dangerous existing situation re: crane usage in a major city---so what went wrong--never before has this happened and now two majjor incidents?: Buildings Department records said officials halted work at the Upper East Side site after the crane failed load tests on two straight days, April 22-23. However, the crane passed another test the next day. No violations had been issued in connection with the crane.They said the turntable popped off-even though there are 16 bolts that hold it down. It could be an issue with the bolts. My heart goes out to the families of the crane operator, Donald Leo, 30, and another worker, 27-year-old Ramadan Kurtaj killed in this awful accident. A third construction worker was seriously injured, and one pedestrian was treated for minor injuries. Love honey

Q:I'll be graduating from a Korean language extra school in 1,5 years, and one of the teachers there is really amazing. Essentially, she has taught me the most compared to any other teacher there.Would giving her a 1000 cranes (and a bouquet maybe?) an appropriate and good 'thank you and goodbye' gift? Q:How do they get big cranes up on skyscrapers for renovation? and how do they bring it down? And where they keep the cranes after done?: Renovation of skyscrapers typically uses a crane, if it has one, that is built up the side of the building, resting on the ground but fastened to the frame periodically for bracing. Tower cranes are built in sections and assembled in place with smaller cranes. To a large extent, renovation of skyscrapers is done from the inside - modifying some of the existing elevators, rather than doing anything from the outside, breaking through the walls to get stuff inside.

Q:How do you jump a crane? I know you jack it up but how is that done?: I have no idea what you mean by jump a crane? What type of crane? Truck mounted, overhead, pedestal?

Q:It got me thinking.: I have not seen the movie, but I think I saw what you're talking about on a preview. I would think that the safeties involved in the control system for a crane would make it highly unlikely to happen. There is no absolute assurance, only probabilities or likelihoods. You just hope that you have enough failsafes in the system so if one part of the system fails, the others will take over, or shut the whole thing down properly.

Q:the way u find them climbing with the building makes me wonder how they become this long and what is the mechanism for that: The base and the arm can be expanded like the ladder of a fire fighter car.

If you have seen it, you can probably recall one of the final scenes where head Gamemaker Seneca Crane is being walked to his death by two Peacekeepers. I really want a picture of this! Why?
